The area was quiet and beautiful! We loved the sunrise and sunsets. Lots of animals around. The house was cute and very homey. Hosts were awesome and couldn't ask for better people!

Very charming peaceful and quiet. Host was amazing. The only thing I would say negative was that the house could use a good cleaning under beds, couch etc rest of the house was very clean and cozy. Lots of wildlife and beautiful yard.

Beautiful Countryside

We had a lovely time. There were 7 of us and the large house was good. Sitting around the fire was wonderful. We were a little disappointed that the lock to the upstairs bathroom did not work and the garage apt had no running water and the floor had not been swept. But in spite of it all we had a wonderful time.

Beautiful old Country Home

I reserved this beautiful home for 6 of my friends and myself to have a place to stay while we visited Gettysburg. It was just a short drive into Gettysburg. It was beautiful and we enjoyed staying together in one place . The table was big enough for all and we spent time around the fireplace both evenings. The quiet countryside was absolutely peaceful and gorgeous. Our favorite place was to sit on the porch and talk. We were a little disappointed that there was no running water in the garage apartment but my single gentleman friend stayed there and made it work. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Quiet Charm

Wonderful family homestead. The place is better than what the online pictures show, including how quiet it is outside of the home. FYI DO NOT TAKE THE CRUMMY ASPHALT ROAD! Google took me to a locked gate in a potato field at night lol. Strongly recommend and we will definitely be back next time we visit Gettysburg College.

Quiet and secluded

short vacation - loved it.

Loved the house. Needed all five bedrooms - perfect for our large family! Only disappointment was that the river was not easy to get to and not close to the house so no fishing. Otherwise, we couldn't have been happier.

Old Fashioned Family Vacation

We were very pleased with the area and the house. There was plenty of room for more than 8 people and we had 8. My only little complaints would be the old spices in the drawers (expired 2012), the small amount of dirt in the fireplace areas, and the low amount of time for hot water use during showers. All of these are easily over looked by the beauty of the views and of the spacious stone home. Our children loved the "hidden" bedroom upstairs and being able to run around and play hide and seek in all of the areas of the house. We highly recommend the place for families. You have a quiet, safe, beautiful area to spend time with your loved ones. The owners also provided games and toys for the little ones to use which was very nice! We will be booking this house again!

Away from the beaten path

Very pleasant quiet place. If you like solitude with a view of open fields and porch sitting while watching deer bounce through the beautiful green planted fields, this is the place to be. It was great inside and outside! Landscaping and interior decoration made it feel just like being home away from home while being able to drive a short distance to local attractions and a great downtown restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to go to Gettysburg. Communication with the host was excellent.

Perfect home for larger family

We loved the privacy of the home and no neighbors. Scenery was great, we watched the deer every day from the porch. House had plenty of room and everything we need for the 7 of us. I would stay here again. Communication was great, anytime we had a question we could text and she answered right back.

Lovely Property!

Gorgeous property, the host Melody was very good with communication. Just a warning that the house was built in 1900 and if you're tall you need to pay attention to the doorways, many of them are under 6ft.

Beautiful property but outdated home

We loved being all together and the house allowed for us to do that. Check in was easy. Location was great-nice off the main road but close to towns. Historic home so we expect the tiny door into the small room. We expect the themed rooms to compliment the hunter theme. Huge turkey was a turn off above the bed. We did not appreciate the dust all around, old beds, and stains on bedding. Kitchen pots and pans need updating. We ordered out food for most of our meals. Never heard back from with host about the catering that was mentioned online. That would have been helpful. Had to load up the two garbage bins outside. Again-lovely location. Very beautiful property. Be sure hunters are not scheduled the same weekend you have reservations. Was not comfortable walking around outside with visiting nephews and small children.

Peaceful and Comfortable

The house was so comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the lightning bugs as the kids played in the yard. I highly recommend. You won’t regret this one.

Great farmhouse

We loved staying at this home. The house was large and comfortable. The surrounding area was beautiful a d we enjoyed walking down to the river to fish. My son caught several fish and we saw deer crossing the river. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Farmhouse Christmas

We loved our stay at the farmhouse. The kids loved exploring the property. Adults loved the front porch for morning sunrises and the fireplace for cozy afternoons. The house was spacious enough for gathering with our large extended family, and the kitchen had everything we needed for preparing meals for the group! (Besides the can opener, which needs to be replaced!) The only negative was the extra sleeping space off the garage. We could never get the heat to work… so the couple who intended to stay there one night couldn’t. Luckily, they were from Frederick, so could go home instead. But it was a disappointment that they couldn’t stay. Otherwise, all else was perfect, and we hope to do it again next Christmas!
