One Bedroom Luxury Casita w/lap pool on the Beach
- english, spanish
About Catharine Cooper
I am an avid water person - swim, surf, SUP, sail snorkel - and am proud to call Loreto my second home. A beach girl from the go - I consider it a luxury to launch my SUP boards, kayaks and sailboat from the sand in front of my home. My dog Buster was born on the beach in Loreto - the offspring of two rescue pups. He has become bi-coastal (southern California) and bi-lingual. Woof in both Spanish and English.
Catharine Cooper purchased this House in 2006
Why Catharine Cooper chose Loreto
Casita is newly built - 2016 - on the lot that was contiguous to the main house - Casa de Catalina - purchased in 2006. It was love at first sight - the only property I looked at and made an immediate offer. Perfect location - great neighbors - and the constancy of the sea just steps from the house.
What makes this House unique
Proximity to the water. The magic of the Sea of Cortez and Loreto which is one of a select Mexican cities to earn the title "Pueblo Magico." The CASITA, pool and entertainment areas were a 9 year dream in the making. Am thrilled to be able to share the location and unique building with family and friends - both new and old.

Enjoyed our time! Great place and great stay!
We stayed a week at the Casita and had a great time! Awesome place and would definitely stay again. Plenty of space and took advantage of the bikes, stand up paddleboards and Kayaks.
So glad you enjoyed yourself and the household ‘toys! Come back soon - those Loreto sunrises are hard to beat :/)
Paradise on Sea of Cortez
We celebrated our anniversary at Casita de Catalina. We found it perfectly situated, well appointed, & host Catharine was the best.
We look forward to returning to Loreto!
Thank you so much! What a joy to meet you - and yes, find your way back to Loreto and the Casita. It really is part of the Pueblo Mágica
The casita was perfect for the 2 of us. We arrived at dark so we weren't able to see how beautiful the courtyard and views around were. However, the gentle surf of the Sea of Cortez lulled us to sleep in probably the most comfortable bed ever. The bedding was just right; not too hot, and not too cold. The first night we slept with the sliding glass door open, and were able to hear the sea and the music from the malecon (we arrived during the annual Whale Festival). Other nights we closed the doors. The house was extremely quiet every night there. The view off the back patio is amazing. We sea kayaked and stand up paddleboarded. The beach is lovely to walk on; we hardly saw anyone. We grilled fish one night in the outdoor kitchen, which was so pretty with it's amazing Mexican tile and furniture. It's an easy walk into town as well. The whole vibe is chill everywhere we went. We will definitely go back. Catherine is a great host; if you need her she responds right away.
My husband and I enjoyed the views from the Casita. It couldn’t be prettier. The week we were there was a bit windy but we absolutely loved languishing under the palms and looking out to the sea. Walking right out onto the sand with a beer in hand is the best way to go on a vacation. The Casita is a perfect launching spot for exploration. We rented a car but we also liked walking into town via the beach. We will be back!
Cozy and cute Casita on the shores of Sea of Cortez and walking distance to Loreto ~ Pueblo Magico
We stayed for 3 weeks at Casita de Catalina and would highly recommend it. We selected the Luxurious Casita on the Beach for the amenities offered, mainly came for the SUP'ing and photo opportunities. It did not disappoint. SUP'ing on Sea of Cortez was magical, we saw turtles, dolphins, and a variety of fish. The SUP boards were stable and the paddles adjustable. We enjoyed many SUP sessions early, as the wind was likely to kick up later. We experienced some spectacular sunrises, big payoff for getting up early. The private pool area is sheltered from the wind, great place for a nap. Loreto is a short walk on the beach, we found the town clean and the locals very friendly. We tried some recommended restaurants in town, some disappointments, Los Mandiles was our favorite. Vista al Mar is a short drive away, highly recommended for an authentic Baja clam shack restaurant on the beach with great food, reasonable prices, and friendly service.
The only possible negative for this review is the indoor shower with on demand hot water, I can't say I had a shower that was just right that lasted more than 30 seconds. It was too hot or cold. I used the outdoor shower for washing my hair, but it is not private.
We would have liked to see more effort at recycling.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. Would love to see some of your photographs, should you choose to share.
And I'm sorry you had difficulties with the hot water. I honestly had no idea, and will see what can be changed to provide a better showering experience.
As for recycling, it's an on-going challenge. We have two initiatives in Loreto - and now face the issues created by lack of markets for the collected plastic, etc. Thanks again for being such great guests.
Fantastic for a couples getaway
Great owner to renter transfer of info. Well maintained, clean, private. Everything you need and more.
