Sunrise Shanty- Small Seaside Cottage

Small Seaside Cottage on Stonington`s Seawall. Sunrise Shanty is a small but sweet cottage built in to the seawall of Stonington’s picturesque village. The home enjoys eastern exposure which makes for lovely sunrises over the bay. Sunrise Shanty is definitely a tiny house but its got a lot of flair and provides great in-town accommodations.

Sunrise Shanty is a one bedroom, three quarter bathroom house on Ocean Street in Stonington. The cottage is small but mighty in its offerings. The primary access brings you in to the kitchen of the cottage, this space is freshly painted and has some nice updates including a new fridge as well as a small snack bar. From the kitchen there is a 3/4 bathroom with tile floors and a nice glass shower. There is a small set of steps leading up from the kitchen/bathroom space which opens to a living area with large views of the thoroughfare and comfortable seating including an arm chair and a full size couch. In the corner of the room there is a small dining table for two. The cottage is mostly open concept which makes the space open and bright. Another small set of stairs from the living area brings you up to the queen bedroom. The bedroom has views of the harbor, a full closet, two night stands and a dresser.

The outside of the cottage has a wonderful crushed stone patio with a gas grill as well as a sitting area. The cottage has access to the ocean at high tide so you could drop in your kayak and head out for a scenic paddle.

If you are looking to be on and around the working waterfront of Stonington harbor then Sunrise Shanty is surely a sweet place for you to enjoy some island time. Cute Cottage

Cute place with great location. Easy walk into town. Tiny for sure but the bedroom felt spacious as well as the living room. You can swim off the patio at high tide too! The bed was comfortable. Overall very nice place!

We loved our stay at the Sunrise Shanty.

The Sunrise Shanty is a perfect getaway spot. The Shanty is as thoughtfully designed and full of character on the inside as it is on the outside. Though it is a small space with regard to square footage, each living space is thoughtfully designed to maximize efficiency and livability. The harbor view is amazing and the multiple, beautiful, well-placed windows add to the beauty and charm of the Sunrise Shanty. In addition, the good people at the Island Agency are the perfect hosts. Not only are they kind and welcoming, but also they are also thoughtful, efficient and responsive. We had a perfect stay; we are grateful for the experience and plan on returning as soon as we are able.

Amazing location on the water in the most amazing village!!!

The cottage is deceptive in appearance and size. Most comfortable for 2 people with a lovely outdoor space. Close to town and fresh lobster right off the boat. Of course all the necessities are covered, even the lobster pot and utensils. The neighborhood is extremely quiet, even when the lobster boats go out early in the morning, you are right in the fishing harbor. All the shops, restaurants, cafe, library and farmer's market are all within walking distance, as is the very famous opera house. This is a dream location not to be missed. Waking up to the fog horn or the blue heron right out the bedroom window is quite special. I'll be back.

Satisfactory, as always....

We know the Shanty well, this having been our third consecutive summer stay. And, the Agency, as always, does its part to make the entire process as smooth and welcoming as possible. The Shanty is perfectly situated and as close as one can get to actually experience Stonington from the sense of being on the water or operating a fishing boat without actually being on the water. Its compactness and simplicity are also part of the appeal.

CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations must be in writing and received by Agent. Cancellations may only be made between the date that a reservation deposit is received and a date determined to be 45 days prior to the tenants scheduled arrival date. Cancelations within 45 days of arrival will not result in a refund in whole or part of rental monies received. If a cancellation is made prior to 45 days of arrival, the Agent shall, as an accommodation to the Tenant, make an effort to re-rent the property at the published rate for the rental term reserved. No refund of rents paid will be made until the canceled period is re-rented and confirmed. If the canceled period is re-rented, any rent and taxes paid will be refunded less a $100 administrative fee. If the re-rental amount is less than the published rate, any difference in rental rate remains the sole obligation of the tenant. If the unit is not re-rented, all rents paid, processing fees and taxes shall be forfeited as damages. This cancellation policy is strictly followed. Tenants are encouraged to purchase travel insurance for all vacations to cover many situations that may arise that might cause one to cancel vacation plans. There are many independent insurance providers available to tenants.
