We are sorry that Hurricane Lowell significantly affected this guest’s stay. Losing power and air-conditioning for an extended period is certainly uncomfortable, but the widespread outage resulted from the hurricane and was outside the control of the property owner or Parrish. We do, however, need to correct several impressions in this review. Prior to the storm, Parrish sent guests multiple messages regarding preparations, including asking that loose outdoor furniture and other items be brought inside or secured and specifically advising guests to contact us if assistance was needed. This guest did not respond to those communications before, during, or after the storm. Multiple flashlights are provided in the home, including in the kitchen and bedroom areas. Our team also conducted door-to-door follow-up checks after the hurricane to check on guests, but we were unable to make contact with this guest at the property. Widespread power and cellular outages made communication extremely difficult throughout Kauai, but our teams continued working throughout the event. We also need to address the comments regarding cleanliness. Our records confirm that the property was professionally cleaned and inspected prior to this guest’s arrival, with inspection photographs documenting the condition of the home at that time. No concerns regarding dust, bedding, or general cleanliness were reported to us during the stay or in the guest’s post-stay communications. Had any housekeeping issue been brought to our attention, we would have addressed it promptly. The guest also states that she called the day before travel because the hurricane was imminent. Our records show that the call occurred three days before the expected storm impact. During that call, the guest asked what would happen if conditions required them to be rehoused. We do not have a record of a request to cancel the reservation at that time. We understand that experiencing a hurricane while on vacation is disappointing and certainly not the trip anyone hopes for. What we cannot agree with is the suggestion that Parrish failed to communicate, prepare, or respond. Our team was actively preparing properties, communicating with guests, conducting checks, and responding throughout an island-wide emergency under extremely challenging conditions. We regret that the storm affected this guest’s experience, but believe the full circumstances provide important context for prospective guests reading this review.

We understand your frustration and apologize for the problem with the air conditioning. Waikomo is full of rich gardens and tropical wildlife and we simply cannot control nature. We fully inspected the property prior to your arrival and this damage after the inspection, only hours before your stay. We are sorry that this happened and, as you mentioned, we tried our best to get it up and working while you were here. We worked hard to get the part overnighted and attempted the reair the next day, however, this was unsuccessful. We are sorry that this impacted your stay. Aloha Mark, I must say we are surprised by your review. When we spoke to you about the garbage disposal and had maintenance attend to it, there was no mention of the shower drain or the need for more fans. We certainly would have attended to both had we known. When you requested the late out, you stated you were "...having such a great time and don't want to go home...". We do know that it can get warmer when the trades are low and the sun is high, and are sorry that you did not have a more enjoyable stay. We can certainly guide you to a unit with AC for your next visit. Mahalo.

Mahalo Shawn for your review. We will check out the sleep sofa mattress, but in general we do find they are no comparison to a normal bed. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry about the roosters...Kauai's alarm clock with no set time. People love them or hate them for sure...
