We had a wonderful stay at this cottage on Chautautua Lake, it was a perfect spot to relax and escape the busyness of life for a few days. It was a lovely property, perfect for our family. We highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway on the lake. We were very grateful for our time there and would love to go back some time.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage was a very nice place to stay, easy access to everything in the area. My grandchildren enjoyed fishing off the dock and catching fish. The family thanks Matt and Sue for allowing us to stay in the home and giving us a safe, happy place to stay.
We loved the peaceful location! The lake was very relaxing. We enjoyed fishing and boating. We had one rainy day to visit Lake Erie area! Thanks to Matt & Sue , our hosts for the use of their cottage. It was well stocked for our enjoyment!

Nice accommodations with historical character
Overall a very pleasing accommodations. Bedrooms and bathroom had new linens, clean and spacious with comfortable mattresses. Smaller kitchen was outfitted well. Boat lift worked great and for the size of the cottage, seemed spacious including nice size porch. We enjoyed the rental and worked well for us. Owners were excellent to work with and really appreciated their hospitality.

Renters took good care of the cottage enjoying it. leaving it as they found it. Glad they found it to fit their needs and then some. Would gladly rent to them again.
Lovely little cottage on the water. Impeccably clean, and they’ve thought of everything. The house is well stocked and has all the kitchen utensils and pots and pans you could need, bathroom towels were plentiful. Our family enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boat, and loved fishing off the dock! Great house and the owners were wonderful to work with!
This place is actually much cuter and spacious than it looks like online. You can tell the owners took a lot of care in figuring out the best way to help their visitors have a comfortable stay with little signs to tell you how to use things and small things like towel markers, makeup cloths and a basket of extras in the bathroom in case you forgot something. Very nice place and great communication with any questions.

Awesome!
We had a great time at this little house on the lake. It had a little bit for everyone. We all loved the paddle boat. The boys loved fishing off the dock. My daughters loved the kayak. The house itself has a lot of character because it leans a little. The kitchen has everything you need except an oven. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Matt for your hospitality!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed our little slice of Chautauqua Lake.

Our group consisted of four adults and an infant. The cottage has historic charm on the water. While the property is small, it feels surprisingly spacious. It was perfect for a few days with family. The hosts were very hospitable, leaving a welcome note and bottle of wine :) There are games, good Wi-Fi, and modern tv options. We Loved the covered porch. Matt was gracious in sharing information and recommendations for the area. I would definitely return. It would also be a nice getaway with a group of girlfriends.

Party of Ten
This was our third trip to Lake Chautauqua we’ve stayed at three different places around the lake and this property was our favorite. We had a great time and the property provided everything we needed (except a stove). Initially I was concerned about having a full house of ten people, but it turned out to be perfectly comfortable and adequate for us all. Matt was great to work with and very helpful and kind. We would absolutely stay here again. 👍🏻👍🏻

We are so happy to hear that you had a wonderful visit! Sorry that there is not an oven. We hope that the stove-top and grill met most of your cooking needs.
This is an excellent property to rent! The house sits right on the water with a beautiful view of the lake from the famly room, and upstairs bedrooms. The owner thought of anything and everything. They have small notes to explain how things work, what attractions are where, and a great "incase you forgot something" basket with what most of us men seem to forget 😉. I'll 100% use this rental when I return to Chautauqua. Thank you for everything!
Oh my wife said I had to add the house has great charm. 👍
We had a fantastic stay. Very peaceful area of the lake the cottage was very clean and accommodating. Matt was a wonderful host and helpful at checking. We would recommend to anyone.
I knew when I saw the photo from the porch looking at the lake that this was just the escape my wife and I needed. The house is bright & cheery inside and the view from the porch is exactly as is pictured. Matt is terrific to work with and ensured we were set up for a nice stay.
This definitely was a special cottage and spot on the lake
We absolutely fell in love with this cottage. The décor was so warm it felt like home. It had every amenity that you would need for a stress free fun filled vacation. Matt & Sue were wonderful hosts...we will definitely be renting it again :)
The vacation house was very clean and comfortable. The view was breathtaking. Everything was provided for use in the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. It was very relaxing and we loved the covered porch. The owners were very helpful, informative and friendly. The neighbors were friendly too. Everyone enjoyed being there. Great place to go to to relax and enjoy the view.
This is an adorable cottage right on the waterfront. It was perfect for our family vacation! The cottage is not huge, but there is plenty of room & it sleeps 10 people. To us the best feature was being right on the water with a private dock! We had a small issue about the dock, but it was quickly resolved. We had a great time & would love to go back again!
This cottage on a lake was truly the wonderful break from reality that we were looking for. Our host greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of their home, and he was extremely communicative and helpful during our stay. The cottage is steps away from the water, and we fully took advantage of the peddle boat and the two kayaks to explore the area! I don't know whether next to tell you about the fire pit, porch, grill, or general coziness of the home, because everything really was perfect for our relaxing vacation.
The homeowners are the best to work with. They are so kind and helpful. They have thought of everything-from extra propane for the grill to toys for the kids to play with. We love staying at their place and hope to come back every summer.

Hey Dawn and Mark,
Glad you had a good time again. Sorry that the next trip isn't happening. Just a note for next year the lift will not be available. However, Holiday Harbor across in Celeron has cheap daily rates for slips and is a nice marina.
FYI be on the look out as a Cottage four down from us will be up for sale soon. The owner is an older guy and he and his son were down Monday preparing to list in the near future. Good size cottage with I think 25 feet of frontage. Two or three bedroom. Needs outside aesthetic work but unsure of interior. He has not been down from West Seneca in several years to stay.
Take care.
Matt
Great location on the lake. All the extras were wonderful! Paddle boat ,kayak and boat lift were a positive addition. The nightly campfires on the lakefront were excellent! We would love to rent again!
Our stay was absolutely amazing from the minute we got there. Hosts were there to check us in and greet us; tell us a little about the house. A welcome gift of pancake mix and syrup was left, which was delicious! The house was clean, great location. The use of the boat lift was a fantastic bonus. Will definitely be back in the future.

About the host
Hosted by Matt Hilton
My name is Matt Hilton and I grew up on Chautauqua lake. My wife and I moved to the suburbs of Buffalo for our jobs, but we always wanted to return to the Chautauqua area where we actually met. We have enjoyed renovating our cottage over the years, including opening up the walls to enjoy views of the lake from all rooms.
Why they chose this property
This property caught our attention because it is right on the water! When we first walked in and saw the view, we were hooked! It also has plenty of sleeping space so it is perfect for family and guests.
What makes this property unique
The location is great! Our property is close to supermarkets, Bemus Point and other amenities, yet it is situated on a quiet street. The neighbors are close, but they are very friendly. We love to relax on the rocking chairs and porch swing that are on the spacious waterfront porch.
