What a great place to stay! Wish we took the time to walk around the grounds more, but such an incredible location. Quiet countryside with deer roaming, and only a short drive to central Edinburgh. Communication with the host was excellent and full of every amenity you could need.

We enjoyed our stay at the Garden House in Pathhead. The home is nicely maintained and we made use of the washer/dryer at the midpoint of a multi-week trip. The furnishings were relaxed and in keeping with the house's charm, while the kitchen and baths have been thoughtfully remodeled with modern appliances & conveniences (rain shower, heated towel bars). Beds were comfy, and we enjoyed walking to see the Castle grounds and nearby church & cemetery.Would definitely visit again.

Harriet is a wonderful host. The property is warm and inviting. The space allows for privacy as well as having areas to gather and enjoy spending time with family and/or friends.Highly recommend the property.

A truly wonderful cottage on the beautiful grounds of Oxenfoord Castle. Everything was incredibly clean, well appointed, and comfortable.Location was perfect after a week in London. A close drive to commuter trains into Edinburgh. Harriet was extremely helpful in her communications. A true gem of a place to stay.

This property and its garden is wonderful. So peaceful with deer and pheasant in the yard. The castle, grounds and church are all beautiful. Harriet is a great host with clear comms and very welcoming. We loved our time here and wished we’d booked longer. Highly recommend this house for a break just a short drive or train trip from Edinburgh.

Amazing place to stay. Property was immaculately laid out. The outdoor space was fantastic with the grounds of the castle to explore, the wildlife (frequent visits of deer in the back garden) and even space for a game of cricket. Would definitely recommend.

This place is amazing!!! We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more! The grounds are gorgeous to walk around.. peaceful and serene with the occasional deer and hare sightings. Harriet was a treasure beyond words and helped us with much needed ideas for navigating Edinburgh. If you want to truly have an experience, you need to stay here and enjoy this beautiful cottage.. you will not be disappointed.

Outstanding Place, Better than the Photos!

This was a wonderful stay. Wonderful, large cottage. Beds and furnishings very high quality. Kitchen a dream. Our four kids loved with the huge property in the back. Very charming. We’d stay again.

Fabulous Christmas stay

We had a fabulous family stay over Christmas and New Year. Plenty of space to spread out for the whole family. Comfortable beds, clean and warm house with everything you need in a beautiful setting. Lots of wildlife in the grounds. Easy access to Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We’d happily return!

Beautiful family sized home close to Edinburgh.

The property is amazing. Home is both charmingly historic while having all the modern needs available. The host was wonderful. They left us a sweet gift when we arrived and made the entire process extremely easy. I would recommend this for any family looking to stay in the Edinburgh area.

Interesting and Unique Place to Stay

We loved our time here. The attention to detail, from the dishes, the sheets, and the thick towels was great. We had fires every night and enjoyed running/walking the grounds (saw quail, sheep, and cows). We did have a bit of trouble finding the house once we turned into the estate in the dark. We highly recommend!

Tranquility in the Borders

This home was truly beautiful. The setting was a garden oasis with abundant wildlife in your backyard. The inside was nicely appointed - a very large fully equipped kitchen, a den for TV viewing, a formal sitting room and 3 large bedrooms. You won’t go wrong renting this home!
