About this property
Luxury central Edinburgh with stunning views of castle!
Location, location, location!
The Robert Louis Stevenson Suite is a luxury apartment with unprecedented views of Edinburgh Castle. Located just 2 minutes from the iconic Princes St on the corner of George St (lots of shopping, bars and restaurants) and North Castle St, the apartment is in the heart of the New Town, making it an ideal base for visiting all the main tourist sites of Edinburgh.
The apartment block was one of the first flats to be built in the New Town by James Craig in 1790 and sits directly adjacent to the Edinburgh town house of Sir Walter Scott! For the sake of clarity, the apartment is located on the first floor of the building and from street level there are approx 20 steps (no elevator as one of the first buildings to be erected in "The new Town" and is a listed building). The steps are more gradual and winding than steep and vertical.
The flat opens into a square reception hall providing access to all rooms. To the front of the flat and with a southerly aspect from its twin windows is a magnificent drawing room featuring a gas fire with iron grate and pretty timber mantle, dado paneling and delicate plaster work. A glazed door provides secondary access from the drawing room into a striking breakfasting kitchen fitted with an attractive range of painted timber units topped with thick granite surfaces and incorporating a full range of integrated appliances, including a recessed range cooker set, oven/grill, and microwave as well as a washing machine and full height fridge/freezer. The bedrooms comprise a generously proportioned master bedroom with a king size bed and dual aspect views towards Edinburgh Castle. This bedroom features secondary double glazing and also benefits from a luxurious en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is set up with twin beds (can be pushed together to form a double on request) and is served by an equally well fitted family bathroom off the hall. Larger parties can enquire about our apartment in the same building - The Walter Scott Suite ( same building below this one on the first floor), has the same high spec and stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. Combined, both properties can accommodate up to 8 / 10 people comfortably. It has the same stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and can be made available by special request.

The Flat was exactly as described and all amenities were provided. I have no complaints on this unit and would definitely use it again when visiting Edinburgh. The best thing is that everything is pretty much in walking distance and all the variety of pubs and restaurants to choose from. I want to thank Morris for opening his place for others to enjoy what Edinburgh offers.
Lovely apartment, great location. Earplugs are necessary for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights during The Fringe due to the proximity of the late bar. Will book again if we go back
This flat was absolutely perfect! Spacious, fantastic location, an incredible views of Edinburgh Castle. We will be staying here again. Morris was also incredibly helpful and friendly.
This is a wonderful comfortably well located flat. Morris is agreat host who has stocked.the flat very geneously with toiletries, tea and coffee and other bits and piecesSpotlessly clean. Comfortable beds, plenty of kitchen equipment. We had a brilliant stay during the Festival. Definitely recommended
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! Great location! Love that it was right above a pub but far enough away that we didn’t have any noise issues. Was fun to go walk down the stairs and get a cocktail each evening.
This lovely, light-filled, spacious flat is perfectly located to walk to most sites in Edinburgh. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Morris is helpful and responsive-we would definitely stay here again. The only negatives are noise at night (one bedroom has double glazing that helps), and stairs, if they are an issue for your party.
This was such a charming rental! Easy check in process. Walking distance to everything with a view of the castle. The kitchen was appointed with everything we needed. We tend to judge rentals we stay in based on two things 1) that there are enough couches and chairs for our family to be able to sit and relax. The sitting room was huge with room to spread out. 2) that the beds/pillows are comfortable. There was soft, cozy bedding. The host was friendly, responsive, and made some wonderful suggestions for places to eat and the best options for parking. There was even a folder in the apartment with detailed information on the area and the unit. We would absolutely stay here again!!
Stayed with my husband and adult son for 5 days, we were in Edinburgh for a wedding. Apartment was large and well appointed, even had an ironing board for our our formal attire that traveled in a suitcase. Easy walk to all the shops, restaurants, Old Town, the location couldn't be beat. I hadn't received detailed check-in instructions by the time we got there, but owner was immediately responsive to our texts and got us in quickly. I would definitely stay again!
Really great property. Tons of space, character, charm and amenities. Location was ideal. We were only here for two nights but my family wished we could have stayed longer and chilled here more. Would stay here again.
Traveled from the US with adult kids for a week stay. Everything worked out perfectly. Close enough to walk to all sites, bus and tram stations and in the evening there were so many restaurants in less than a block to enjoy evening meals together. It is a popular area for night life so a few times it was noisy but it’s part of the charm. Morris was very responsive. Would stay again and can highly recommend!
We loved our stay. Easy to walk every where from this property. View of castle was a bonus. Great restaurants a few steps from the front door. Thanks for a great stay.
The property was close to the areas of Edinbugh we wanted to see. The place was clean and everything was as expected. We would definitely stay here again. Just great!
Great location, great property, and excellent host. We've stayed at many rental properties hosted on multiple vendors sites over many years, and this ranks as one of the best.
I worked as an actor for many years and as a radio broadcaster on the BBC, presenting arts programmes. I'm also very interested in cultural tourism projects and in 1996 created The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour, an award winning tour performed by professional actors. It runs throughout the year and Rick Steves, presenter of travel programmes USA wide, is quoted as saying in a recent review, 'for an entertaining insight into the greats of Scottish literature, served up with new friends, good beer, and lots of laughs, The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour is my vote for the best way to spend an Edinburgh Evening!' so can't be bad!! Let me know if your interested in going on the tour at check-in and I can reserve you a slot.
