York getaway

We loved this house. It was beautifully set up with excellent amenities. We loved the cinema room and especially enjoyed watching the rugby on the big screen! Location is great with an easy 15 minute walk into town. Highly recommend.

Beautiful home in a great location but unfortunately let down by the cleanliness and general upkeep.Bedroom window blinds missing slats, and the floors were noticeably dirty. We found used dental floss & contact lens packaging on bedroom floor, food debris left under the kitchen table from previous occupants. We couldn’t get kitchen tap to work properly so had to boil water. No welcome pack so make sure you take what you need. Downstairs bathroom very smelly - running the shower helps. The outdoor pizza oven was also unclean, with utensils left outside and covered in green moss. The beds were comfortable, but one member of our party was bitten during the night. The bed linen is tired, rugs in the downstairs lounge were covered in hair, the cushions would benefit from a thorough clean, the floors throughout the property were dirty.Outside, there were dead plants, cigarette butts, an untidy garden, and broken garden furniture. The bins were locked, preventing us from disposing of our rubbish, entranceway was also unclean.A ground-floor window had dropped and could not be securely closed. We reported all issues immediately on arrival; however, due to the time difference and the owners being based in Australia, it was not possible to resolve them during our two-night stay. You’ll need to liaise with them directly see, there’s no back up contact in the vicinity to help.The property itself is lovely but it is marketed as a luxury stay and sadly it fell below that standard.

One of the best properties I stayed so far. First floor has a very big living room with an amazing cinema set up ( projector and sound system) where we spent the night watching couple movies. Living room opens up to a good sized garden area. Second floor is where the rooms, kitchen and dining area is. Big rooms, very clean and comfortable , very well equipped modern kitchen - it has everything you need. The view is also amazing - looking over to the river. The property is very close to the city center (10-15 mins walk). Sainsbury’s is at walking distance. We were worried about parking as the property does not have parking avaiable , however it is very easy to find a parking spot ( we parked close to Sainsbury’s parking area). Overall it was a great experience and our host Hannah was amazing, very responsive and helpful.
