Lovely spot in the woods. If you want a 5 star chalet this isnt it. What it is is clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage with a wonderful, resopnsive and friendly host!
Our family had a wonderful vacation. The cabin has everything you need and was very cozy. Also great fishing on the lake and lots of places to visit nearby will be back again. Thanks Liz and Jane for a great stay.
Great little cabin to escape to for the weekend. Enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed plus a cozy wood stove for the chilly spring nights. Thank you!
My husband and I really enjoyed this little fishing cabin in the woods. It was just what we needed. There are beautiful trees and the fireflies put on an amazing lightshow for us every single evening for the entire week that we stayed there. We had everything we needed and all that is described in the listing.Liz and Robbie were very pleasant to meet and speak with and told us a quite a bit about the town. I would love to go and stay there again. Sue & Dan
This is an outstanding cottage rental. A beautiful property that has everything one might want (and many things I did not know I needed but really appreciated). The owners were super quick to respond and extremely friendly. I highly recommend this place!!!
Was nice, but the weather was not, and sorry the table cloth got a burn hole in it, I will pay for it, thank you I would go back but in nice weather..ken
This is the second time I stayed at Moorehaven. Its a beautiful spot right on the water. The cabin is very well equipped and is private. Its a simple little slice of paradise.
We were so very impressed by everything, from the cleanliness of the cottage, to its location! It was so peaceful and we loved the choices of seating, as we had different views depending on where we positioned the chairs. (Water, deck, backyard). We will definitely be back next year!
What a cosy, comfortable place! We enjoyed the lake, the cottage, and the surrounding area to explore. The cottage is a real "home away from home". Details in the cottage give the impression of someone taking the time and thought to make you feel 'at home'. Thank you for a wonderful place! We hope to be back! Thank you Liz and Jane!
We loved our stay! The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for our trip away. Morning visits from the hummingbirds and the evening visits from the bats were really cool to see. If you're planning on doing any real fishing you’ll want to bring your own boat however, although my 3yr old daughter did reel in her first fish! Ask about the shared swimming spot too. I found that info out from the neighbor but not until our last night. Great spot to get away
We has a lovely time at this cottage. We had one day of warm weather (end of October) then it got cold. The 2 bedrooms had baseboard heaters so we were very cozy. Lots of wool blankets and quilts to keep us warm. In the living room was a wood stove that kept us toasty for 2 days! DVD player was great. We brought plenty of movies. The location is charming, the trees are HUGE and there were millions of gold leaves carpeting the ground as far as the eye can see. The host were very accommodating. There was every amenity we could think of. We has a wonderful rest and recharged the batteries. Thank you!
This is a sweet little cottage, it's all you need. Liz went out of her way to ensure it was clean and provided all of the essentials. The kitchen is fully equipped. Centrally located to so many fun things to do. The fishing was great, Pike, Bass & perch. We walked the Cataraqui trail near Chaffey's Lock, We visited Foley Mountain Conservation area and hiked to Spy Rock to get an amazing view. The trails are amazing. What a beautiful area!
We had a wonderful week away from home in this bright, cozy and clean cabin supplied with everything we needed. A yellow canoe was available to explore the nooks and crannies along the shoreline of Big Rideau Lake and the resident critters - feathered, furry and aquatic A peaceful and fun stay. Villages and towns close by to explore. We will return! Thank you, Liz and Jane. Karen
Simple, clean and fully equipped cottage perfect for bass opening weekend on the Big Rideau. Tighter squeeze for our 19ft Nitro and Denali to turn around so best for smaller boats if you are bringing your own . Fans are great but no AC, just to know in case someone absolutely needs it. We would highly recommend for a couples get away .
This is our 3rd time and the cabin and it was wonderful as ever! Would highly recommend for people looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway :)

End of season fishing trip
This small cabin has your basic necessities and was just fine for my father and I on our last fishing trip of the year. I booked this location due to having a boat dock where I could keep my boat in the water. Unfortunately, late in the year they lower the water levels on the lake and our boat dock was not accessible due to the low water levels. Pretty much mud at dock with only 6" of water at the end where owners pontoon boat was docked. Any other type of fishing boat, including mine would not be able to use. Fortunately, having friends that live on the lake I was able to dock my boat elsewhere to leave in the water. On another note, the access to this cabin is on a private road with very tight lane. I do not think I would have been able to pull my full size truck with boat trailer to cabin and get turned around or trailer unhooked to park so be prepared to leave your boat trailer elsewhere if you intend to bring a boat with you. Overall, we had a very nice time staying at this cabin.
Quiet cabin by the lake. Everything you need is present in the cabin! Clean beds, pots and pans, more than enough towels, games, wood for the fireplace, a big frisse etc etc. We had a very pleasant stay.
It was so nice to hear the loons at night.
Cottage was very comfy and close to store as needed - we all had a very restful time

Basic tiny cottage with typical cottage quirks
Great communication with the owners who were very responsive when the front door lock didn't work and who provided us with a functioning BBQ and helped us fix some TV service issues.Lovely people. The cottage is basic, with typical cottage quirks. No shower, ( a tub with handheld shower wand)and no swimming at the cottage. The mattresses were typical for cottages - one too firm and the other too soft. Bedrooms are small and hot.Fabulous quilts adorned the beds though. Lots of pots and pans. Great sharp knives.. Beware the oven runs 100 degrees hotter than what it's set at - I didn't see that note until the last day! The place would benefit from a good scrub - but it's a cottage ! The owners park their cars on the lot as they come and go to their personal cottage on a nearby island.. not at all an issue - they let us know by text when they planned to be on the property. We were there during a hot spell and the two bedroom fans ( also both a bit grimy) couldn't keep up. It was quite buggy outside, being surrounded by trees and a wetlands area out front - the owners did have some citronella candles and coils for us to use. Bring bug spray! There is a screened-in tent, but the bugs have managed to get in there, so we really didn't use it.
We tried fishing off the dock, and took the canoe out for a paddle. The neighbours are lovely. All in all, it was too long in a small hot cabin for us. I think that a shorter stay in cooler weather would have been great..
