Tanners Cottage was built in 2014 on the land behind what was the old village shop and next to where the old tannery used to be located. The cottage is a detached property with an enclosed private garden.
Upon entering the property you'll find a cosy hallway leading into a modern fully equipped kitchen, the kitchen also boasts a dining area with views of the garden. Open the French doors onto the patio and you'll find an outdoor seating area to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
A utility room just off the kitchen containing a Freezer and washing machine can also be found next to the downstairs cloakroom.
The lounge is adjacent to the kitchen and again has French doors leading out onto the garden. The lounge comes complete with a log burner for those cooler evenings. A smart TV with Netflix and catchup TV can also be found.
Upstairs 2 bedrooms can be found, the master bedroom has a luxury king size bed and the 2nd bedroom has two single beds which can be converted to a king size. Please let us know the bed configuration of the 2nd bedroom when making your booking so that we can get it ready.
Located on the Isle of Purbeck (not really an island but a peninsula on the Dorset coast) and just a short drive to many local beaches it's a perfect location to relax and enjoy the generally warmer weather the south coast enjoys. Parking for one car adjacent to the cottage.

A very comfortable stay and very well equipped. We could not want for any thing more, wonderfully quiet. The location is also very good, close to Studland, Corfe, Swanage, Durlston Country Park, Worth Matravers. We walked a lot. In addition, the hosts were very generous with essentials in the fridge when we arrived.
Fantastic cottage at the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck, just what we were looking for. The cottage and facilities were as described and even exceeded our high expectations. The check in via the key safe was simple and efficient and the standard of the kitchen equipment was very high indeed. Many comments in the guest book mentioned repeat visits and we can see why. The owners were very responsive to questions and nothing was too much trouble. The village pub has a good selection of beers, friendly staff and a good menu. Whilst the short walk into Wareham is easy (even for us old timers) and has a good selection of pubs, tea rooms and restaurants. We were lucky to drop on one of the Wareham Wednesday family evening with stalls, bands and fireworks, that run through August. An added bonus was the good bus service with stops just outside which gave us options to explore without the car.
Well presented cottage, in ideal location to explore Dorset. Very clean, everything needed provided, nice touch having bread, flowers provided
A joy to visit
We all had an amazing time.
Ideal accommodation with the home away from home holiday experience, perfectly positioned for exploring Purbeck and the surrounding area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious, comfortable, clean, quiet, warm cottage. It is in a great location. We walked into Wareham, where we had a good meal at The Old Granary. We had a meal at The Kings Arms, a few minutes walk from the cottage, which was superb. We spent two days at RSPB Arne, which is only a short drive away.
The Property surpassed all our expectations, very clean, high quality appliances and decor. The welcome pack was a god send, would love to return again. Thank you so much for a very welcoming stay.
The fact we came back is testimony to our very positive experience. Lovely cottage in great location . Across the Causeway from a lovely little town and close to brilliant beaches and wonderful coast.
Very welcoming property , lovely roses to welcome us plus milk ,bread ,butter jam& two bottles of cider. We had issues with the plug in the bathroom ,prompted response very friendly .The location was perfect we didn’t have to travel more than eleven miles to visit attractions ,beaches coastal path & RSPB reserve. We would definitely recommend this cottage .
We stayed for a week as a couple and were very pleased with the overall layout of the cottage, it’s location in the village with the pub/restaurant 200 metres away and Wareham itself just a 10 minute walk. Set in a quiet corner, it was a great base to explore the many attractions in the area.
It was clean, comfortable and well stocked with essentials (and some goodies). In fact, the description in the listing is all but 100% accurate. A nice change!
One we definitely recommend and will stay at again.

great place to stay
Lovely location for a holiday and easy to get to many locations with little travelling. The cottage is full pf all you need in a home a way from home! All the little extras are here, and a lovely welcome pack too. Good comfortable sofas...with plenty of room in the main room, kitchen diner spacious and airy. The double doors in downstairs rooms are fab. Give good views onto the secluded garden but let in good light and make the property bright. The bedrooms too are both a good size and very comfortable.
A lovely stay and would return to without hesitation.
A lovely comfortable, quiet home. With everything you need and things you didn’t know you needed. Secluded garden. Close proximity to the pretty and charming market town of Wareham (walkable). Beautifully presented - quaint cottages feel, but with modern equipment e.g. excellent TV, WiFi, mobile coverage less reliable. Good food to be had in Wareham e.g. the Italian Bakery for excellent bread and great artisan pizza - a bit expensive, but as with the cottage, you get what you pay for. We thought the cottage was good value for money.
A beautiful place to stay, the cottage is a great size and very comfortable! The facilities are perfect and we really appreciated the considerate details and local treats provided. The location is fantastic.
Cottage was amazing, had everything we needed plus more, nice gift pack too, very peaceful extremely comfortable, hope to return,a wonderful little jem of a property
Super well-equipped, warm and spacious cottage in excellent location close to Wareham and very close to excellent pub just along the road. Everything was excellent and we hope to return!
Just a few words of thanks for our stay at Tanners Cottage , it was an absolute delight,we couldn't have asked for more , beautifully clean, so comfortable and provided all we needed for our weekend away together .. Great location, the short walk to pub which was friendly, walked into Wareham with lots of little shops, quayside, markets and plant of places to eat and drink fabulous.
Can't wait until we book another stay at Tanners Cottage!
The cottage is very well equipped, and very comfortably furnished. It is exactly what we hoped for from the description. It enhanced our vacation visit to the Dorset coast, because it was a pleasure to return to after a day of exploring.
