Great hosts, easy to work with. House met all our needs -- good kitchen and nice living and sleeping accommodations. Ski in, ski out with a short walk to the nearest slope. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
This is an older home with top notch views and is a short walk/ski to hiking and skiing trails. Great for large groups. Bathrooms could use some updating as could the outdoor decks. Great location on the north side of CB.
The house easily accommodated my 3 adult kids and their families for a lovely summer week stay. The kitchen was well equipped and the view on the main floor was outstanding! Beware the hot tub is inside the house just off the living area. With 5 little girls splishing and splashing, it was a big challenge to keep as much water off the floor as possible. No easy task! For a large family gathering this would be a great rental property to consider.
We stayed with 13 of our children and grandchildren for a perfect ski adventure. Mary’s house was just perfect. The ski in/out location was really convenient and the house was spacious enough to allow us all to be together for dinner and games or separate for privacy. We couldn’t have asked for a more responsive and gracious host.
This is an awesome home. We loved the space, the large kitchen, and the variety of beds. The view is unmatched and the ski in ski out is amazing. Can't wait to come back!

My family in Crested Butte for a summer wedding found this house to easily meet the needs of our wide age group... & we had a very full house. Great views, we had good meal & social flows & most slept very well. The homeowner was great to work with.
The homeowner was fabulous to work with and always willing to answer any question asked. She made sure every detail was covered! The home was perfect for our family and as a gathering place for our group.
Nice property it accommodated our whole family and was conveniently located to a wedding. We were attending up the hill. Great communication from the owners. Thank you again.
We loved our stay at this property. Mary was fantastic to work with ahead of time. The house was clean and extremely spacious. Proximity to the mountain is amazing with just a very short path to walk to the mountain from the house. Kitchen was also fantastic and very big - plenty of room for big groups to store food and cook! We will definitely be requesting to stay here again during our next time in Crested Butte. Cannot beat this house/location/price!

Nina,
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and hopefully there will be more snow on your next visit.

Mary was a great host. House is exactly as described and fit our group of 3 families well. We had a hot tub issue that was fixed within 12 hours due to great communication with the host. As others have said, the hot water was something we had to work around and "schedule" our showers. It's about a 30 yard walk to the Homeowners run and you can ski in -- everyone was able to ski in, including the kids.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and I hope you will come back again. We are actively trying to find an electrician to replace the 90-gallon hot-water heater with a tankless one!! Hot water on demand.
Great location- house could use some minor updates!
Wonderful location and spacious setting. The house could use a few little repairs though. The blinds on one of the big windows in the living room is broken so you miss out on the view (the other large picture window is largely blocked by the TV). Hot tub is on main floor with a thin plastic cover so the whole house kind of smells like hot tub. Smoke alarm was missing batteries potentially left from the previous renter. Nothing major- generally speaking though a comfortable place for our group.

Thank you for letting me know about the blinds and the smoke detector! Everything was operational at the beginning of the summer, so its now on the list of repairs for the fall/winter guests. There isn't too much we can do about an indoor hot tub. We closed in the ceiling/loft area years ago, because of the chlorine smell. We know the winter guests enjoy the hot tub after skiing, but not so sure it's used much in the summer. Thank you for your comments. Mary
House was very big and we had lots of room. This rental was stocked sufficiently in the kitchen and had everything we would need. Cleaning crew dropped the ball prior to our arrival, hairs in beds in two rooms and outside trash cans were completely full. I called the housekeepers to tell them trash cans were full, they said they would empty them next day but never showed up to do it. House needs an update.

I agree with Scott. Housekeepers are focusing on COVID sanitizing and not paying attention to normal housekeeping duties. I can not confirm the sheets on all the beds were not washed, but always have been in the past. The previous tenants were responsible for taking the garbage cans out on Wednesday trash day, so it was a double drop the ball with housekeeping not following up when Scott called. I apologized and hope this won't happen in the future. Housekeeping has always been an issue in a small down, and seems to be our only complaint. We hope to do better next time.
The location of this property cannot be beat. It is about 100 steps to the run in the morning and you can ski right to the back deck in the afternoon. For large groups the house is great except for three things. The kitchen is crowded for big groups. Also, the bathroom off the indoor hot tub has two entrances to the shower. While convenient for rinsing off it is not lockable from the inside. So you can just walk in on someone taking a shower which made some people uncomfortable. A lock or latch or something on the inside would make it more useable. Finally the hot water capacity is lacking considering how many people this house can sleep.
Despite these issues we still had a great time. The value of this house is excellent for what you get. Great communication with the host beforehand.

Thank you for your review. The steam room/shower door hasn’t been mentioned before but definitely an easy fix. Can’t do anything about the size of the kitchen unless we did away with the dining room. And we have the largest electric hot water heater available. Hopefully, when gas gets up the mountain we can switch over to a gas hot water heater. Thank you again for taking the time to make suggestions for improvements.

My family and I stayed at this property for a long summer weekend. The location is fantastic - beautiful views, convenient to hiking trails, and not far from the heart of the mountain village and (by car) downtown Crested Butte. We loved the location!! The house itself has a lot of room - great space for a family gathering with a big kitchen and living area and lots of bed combinations. (One downside for those with small children - the house has a lot of features that can be dangerous for littles. Ex: hot tub inside the house in an open room with no way to lock it off, railings with large openings, etc. Just be warned if you have small kids - luckily my baby wasn't crawling yet but a few more months and it would have been a disaster. And my toddler required very close monitoring at all times. Not an issue at all with older kids, and the architectural features are interesting, just a challenge with little kids.) The physical condition of the house is in need of some TLC. But it is decent enough and like I said, the space itself is great and the location is fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay.

Anne,
Thank you so much for pointing out your concern about the indoor hot tub and small children. We will definitely look into having some sort of gate system available for guests with small children to use.
Thank you again,
Mary

Ski In/Out property
Blizzard conditions. Unable to get in and out of driveway. Owner stated vehicles in way of snow plow ( even at 1 Am) 4 cars parked as high up driveway as possible and 3 snowed in. Where are the guests supposed to park if not in driveway? Tow trucks will push cars off road! Steps extremely dangerous ( several falls getting in and out of front door) never shoveled steps or decks. Unable to open doors on decks due to mounds and mounds of snow. Ski In / out impossible . Unable to see a path and I feel owner should have sent or at least recommended someone to come clear a path to the slope. The whole reason we stayed here was to ski in and out. Owner also stated the next guest had no problem skiing in and out and I don’t believe that is true unless lindsey Vaughn was staying there!!! Whole trip was very difficult every way you turned. Never want to see snow again!! Miserable trip. Ice maker did not work, dishwasher left dishes dirty, dirty dishes in cabinet and hot water allowed maximum if two showers which is totally unacceptable . Owner also said first she heard of hot water and that’s not true because I read that complaint in a previous review . Front door was also broken upon arrival. Most of the problems we had were related to the blizzard but I truly believe several things could have been done by the owner when we couldn’t ski in and out to improve our experience :

Im sorry this group was disappointed with their stay and honestly I’m not sure how to respond.
The website states “four wheel drive highly recommended in the winter” so if a 2-wheel drive vehicle shows up during a snow storm it would make it very difficult for the cars to get up the driveway. Due to two wheel drive vehicles being driven during this event, the vehicles were towed and dropped at the very bottom of the driveway which prevented a plow to enter the driveway, which also prevented the deck keeper to shovel the decks, and front porch. The driveway and decks were both cleared the morning of their arrival. The plows and shovelers come automatically at 6” of snow, but both were unable to access the house with the driveway blocked, and parking on the street is prohibited. With respect to ski-in and out, the access is between the two trees on the corner of the property. Previous guests and guests thereafter had no problem putting on their skiis and walking out the back door to the slopes. I even discussed with this particular guest over FaceTime how to walk out the back door, but I’m not sure this group had ever seen snow before. Additionally, we were unaware someone had forced open the front door until the day they departed, at which point we ensured it was repaired the same day. No renters prior to, or immediately following, this group complained of ice maker, dishwasher, or water heater. Ice maker works fine and 90 gallon hot water heater works fine if you space apart your showers. It won’t allow for all three showers to be used at the same time several times in a row, but I don’t know any home that will. Not sure how dirty their dishes were, but no complaints thereafter so I will look into it.
Its my personal impression that this group had no idea what to do in a mountain ski home in the winter. I’m more than happy to work with all renters to the best of my ability to make your trip enjoyable and convenient but please beware of weather conditions when traveling to a ski resort in the middle of a blizzard in a two-wheel drive car. The owner can not control those consequential events. We hope this previous review does not deter you from visiting our home. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. I have also offered the guest a substantial discount on another visit. We will be uploading photos on our website.
Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. The views are amazing! The house is well equipped and very accommodating for mid to large groups. The steam sauna was a great bonus! We saw deer and hummingbirds each day and enjoyed the fresh mountain air.
We had a large group stay at the house for a ski trip. Very easy ski in/out. Large main area for everyone to gather with great views of the surrounding mountains. Mary is very helpful and really quick with answering any questions. Great house, great location, we will be back again!
The location couldn’t be more perfect. Walking distance to the run. Mary’s home was cozy and well furnished. She was very responsive with my questions and requests. We had a wonderful time and would return again.

Location was fantastic. The property was not properly cleaned before our stay. For the size of house and number of guest the water heaters were not sufficient. Never enough water for showers

About the host
Hosted by Mary Burnett
This is a Great home for large families and friends to be able to stay together in the same property, instead of scattered in different condos. Lots of snow to make snowmen and sled in the afternoon. Large open windows and decks to watch the kids play in the snow. Very safe area, so the kids can get up early and ski on the back-side of the mountain, until you finish your coffee and meet up with them.
Why they chose this property
Mt. Crested Butte is one of the best kept secrets in ski towns left. Difficult location to get to, but always short lift lines, and great hospitality. Wonderful summer activities, including hiking, mountain biking (ride the ski-lift up in the summer with your bike and ride down!), 4 wheelers, and just great relaxing mountain drives.
What makes this property unique
Our home has great mountain views, lots of wildlife, and a very comfortable living arrangement for large groups. We love to bike, ride horses, go 4-wheeling, and hiking in the summer. Ski-in and out the back deck to the Goldlink/Painter Boy Chairlift in the winter. Wonderful relaxing decks and incredible views.
