About this property

Charming Tuscan villa perfect for families and couples. 15 min from Lucca . A/C.

Casa Pettirosso is a charming holiday home located in the quiet little village of San Macario in Piano,Tuscany.
My name is Giovanni, your host. I’m proud to report Casa Pettirosso has averaged 5-star
reviews for many years now. I was born and raised here and this villa has been in our family for
generations. I look forward to creating your 5-star visit.
The house itself is quite spacious and I provide all the expected amenities. No Stairs nor first floor, easily accessible for all. It’s a very beautiful and relaxing place: look at the pictures and see for yourself. Guests can enter the house from the porch where a table tennis is or from the the opposite side where an external terrace with dining table and chairs is overlooking the view. There is a spacious and bright living room with 2 sofas , sat tv , cd player, air conditioning and fan, books and guides. The kitchen , in a rustic style , is fully furnished including oven , microwave, dishwasher , toaster and coffee maker and moka , kettle, dishes and utensils ,fridge and freezer .
Casa Pettirosso is surrounded by a wide park of shady oaks, providing an ideal space for children to run and play safely. The whole area including woodland and garden is not fully fenced . In the garden under the oak trees there is a dining table with benches and a portable barbecue that allows you to cook outdoor. There is an elevated pool measuring 8mt in diameter and 1,20 mt deep at the exclusive use of the guests. The swimming pool area is equipped with deck chairs , sun beds, small table with sun umbrella . A large parking area is just in front of the house , very handy for carrying suitcases and luggage.
Casa Pettirosso is a welcoming oasis after a day of adventure!

Giuseppe Garibaldi Connection:

This is the house where my grandparents lived: Gianni and
Vera Ristori.
My grandmother’s surname comes from a noble family
that boasts ancestors in the old Chivalric Order of Malta.
Her mother, my great-grandmother was Lucrezia Bidischini
dall’Oglio, belonging to a family of landowners which
possessed vast estates in Palmanova, Friuli in North-
Eastern Italy.
Countess Italia Bidischini Dall’Oglio was the sister of Count
Giuseppe Bidischini dall’Oglio, lieutenant of Giuseppe
Garibaldi who was imprisoned with him in Castel
Sant’Angelo in Rome. He was the father of my great-
grandmother Lucrezia Bidischini dall’Oglio. Her aunt Italia
got married with Menotti Garibaldi, son of the famous
Italian patriot; from that marriage Anita, Rosita and
Gemma were born and my father visited them in their
home in Rome. From them he received an authentic
photograph of Giuseppe Garibaldi and another one
portraying Menotti Garibaldi; both photographs are
displayed inside the Pettirosso house.

Location, Location, Location
First, let’s start with location. It’s perfect for the eager tourist wanting to take in all that Tuscany offers.
You will be 6 km from the center of Lucca, an historic town surrounding a walled Medieval-era
village with much to see and experience. And in just 20 minutes you can be on the beautiful
Viareggio shoreline.

Florence is 50 minutes by car. Casa Pettirosso is an hour from Cinque Terre, near La Spezia, by
car.

Food, Food, Food
Now let’s talk about everyone’s favorite subject: Italian food!
Food in the area is excellent. Within walking distance from the property there is a very good
Osteria - Alimentari called 'Il Ciancino.’
Nearby is a wood oven pizzeria and a really great ice cream shop. Dianda bar is perfect for
a good morning breakfast or an evening 'aperitivo'.
Near the town church is a high-quality food grocery, a bakery and a butcher's shop. All this is
within walking distance of the property.
On the road to Lucca is the Coop Supermarket and the Lidl on the opposite side.
Plenty of Adventure Close By
While it is true we are very centrally located to tourist destinations in the region, there is plenty
to do right in our own backyard. The surrounding places are very beautiful and allow you to walk in complete tranquility away from traffic . Within 5 minutes walk from the house is an animal farm leaving their animals free during the day .For those seeking outdoor activities, the area around Bagni di
Lucca in the Lima Valley offers some of the best scenery in Italy.
You can book soft rafting trips, quad tours, canyon walks and ride a zip-line through a canyon
park. You can also swim in the fresh pools of the Lima River.
The village of San Macario lies in the bosom of fertile hills, famous for their vineyards and olive
groves. Our region’s olive oil is known for its strong and sharp flavor – be sure to try it!
I personally offer mountain village tours by Land Rover, allowing you to discover this area’s
fascinating lost corners. I will be your driver and tour guide.
I’m told often my English is excellent (I spent two years in England). Please don’t hesitate to
inquire for further information and I will get back to you promptly.
Ciao!
