"This was definitely a 5 Star Vacation Home. The home is very clean with everything you need to make you feel at home. The Home and area are very beautiful and quiet. The perfect place to relax after a day at a Beach. A short travel to Sanibel Beach and Fort Myers Beach gave us the ability to visit both beaches during our stay. For the Hospitality from Richard and Jane is also a 5 star. I Highly recommend this home and will definitely book again in the future.

Rich was fantastic to work with. He was responsive and checked in on us to make sure we had what we needed. They had a beautiful poinsettia and a nice bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us when we arrived. The pool was fantastic but the lounge chairs could be updated. Great host and house, I would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing home close to everything.

This home was perfect for relaxing in the pool or lounging inside. The home is close to all the sites/restaurants in the area. Saw a huge manatee and sting rays in the canal behind home.

Winter 2025

By far one of the best VRBO stays ever

We just finished our stay in Cape Coral at this location. This was by far the best VRBO experience We have ever had! This rental was perfect for myself, husband and 14 year old. You are close to so many beaches, restaurants and shops! The owner of this property is by far the best owner we have ever dealt with! We will definitely be looking to come back to this area and staying at this house again!

Great Stay for RHWS Baseball Tournament

We stayed for two weeks and the Boat House in Cape Coral was great for us - good restaurants nearby for dinners, easy drives over to Fort Myers for the baseball games. Rich does a great job communicating with us as needed, but everything was fine with the property - especially the heated pool. Was great to be back for the Roy Hobbs tournament & look forward to returning next year and finding more Cape Coral spots to hit.

5/5 Perfect Location!

My husband and I traveled over the holidays to find nicer weather. This property was perfect and just what we were looking for! It was great to utilize the outside spaces and enjoy the heated pool! The location is close to anything you could need, but also pretty private, you can forget how centrally located you are. Rich and Jane were friendly and very helpful. We will be back!

Excellent Escape from Winter

Everything was very positive, as expected. This was a return stay at this property and we have already reserved it for next year. Location, cleanliness, condition, and comfort were all excellent. Well equipped. Pool experience was excellent. Communication with hosts/owners was excellent. They were genuinely interested in ensuring our stay was a positive experience. We use VRBO all the time for travels. Highly recommend this property.

Best communication I have received in a long time!

Wow, nothing but positives things to say about this experience. Everything was great! The communication was wonderful and made the unknown so much easier. Rich was great to work with, the place was clean and just as it was described and he did a check in to make sure we didn't need anything. In advance he asked if we needed anything from the store since we were arriving Christmas Day.

Summer Vacation 2023

We were displaced from Captiva due to hurricane Ian. We found this wonderful property. Our stay was perfect. We brought our boat and having the canal out back was extremely convenient. We had some friends visit during our stay and it very comfortable. The house was spacious with all the comforts of home. The updated bathrooms were very nice. The pool was just right after a long hot day on the water or even for a chill day staying home. Being on the end of the canal gave us a sense of privacy. Rich and Jane were gracious hosts and communicated quickly to anything we needed. We definitely will visit again.

A Short Getaway From Winter

The owners, Rich and Jane were very good host. They greeted us with a bottle of wine, which was a very nice touch. They answered all our questions and were very helpful. The only bad thing was that there was no hand rail. My wife was unable to use the pool because of her neuropathy in her feet. I had a bad time also getting in and out of the pool because of my balance. Rich had told me that he would install the handrail before we got there, but the contractor was unable to get it in. That is why I am giving a four star rating.

Nice home

We enjoyed our two month stay at Pelican.. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, and very conveniently located with proximity to many of our favorite SW Cape Coral restaurants. The living area is spacious with a wonderful slider door to the large lanai and saltwater pool. It was especially convenient to have a printer at the house, an unexpected bonus! Communication with the owners - Rich and Jane - was excellent, and they were very responsive to the problems that arose. The one difficulty we had was with streaming TV. Even late into our two month stay, it could still be a struggle, and we're pretty tech savvy for old folks! Except for the TV issue, we'd definitely recommend their home for a Cape Coral stay.

Exactly what we wanted

This year for the winter holidays, we wanted to get away from the cold winter and hectic routine, so we opted to stay here in Cape Coral. Our stay allowed us to spend quality time together in this very comfortable and well-located home. I was able to easily make some home cooked meals as the kitchen was very well-equipped and the entire family spent most of the time outside in the warm pool. The layout of the home is very functional and there was nothing that we needed that was not available. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, yet located close enough to groceries, shops, pharmacies and restaurants. Some homes in the area are still repairing damages to their rooves and fences from Hurricane Ian but this house only had minimal damage to the lanai which did not affect our stay. Everyone in our family had the rest and relaxation that we were hoping for. Thank you to our hosts!

We had a wonderful stay. Everything was exactly as pictured. Questions we had about the unit were answered within minutes. We had excellent weather which may have helped, but the pool was perfectly warm. We took in the beaches at Sanibel and Captiva as well as the much more crowded beaches of Fort Myer and enjoyed them all. We danced four nights in a row at Cape Caberet just a few miles away and fit in well with the almost totally over 65 crowd.

Great vacation … even amid the devastation of Hurricane Ian

We were supposed to stay in the Fort Myers Beach area because we were coming to play in the Roy Hobbs Baseball Tournament. Not that I am happy that Hurricane Ian caused so much devastation, but I am sure glad we had the opportunity to check out other options. Rich and Jane are amazing and the house was very comfortable. The neighbourhood sure did take a hit with houses extremely damaged. We are extremely satisfied with our stay … the pool was amazing for our needs … the community felt very safe … the house was lovely … the hosts were very accommodating, communicative and friendly. If we could choose more than 5 stars, we would.

Rich and Jane Kroeze (Dick and Jane) arrived in Florida to "The Boat House" in the fall of 2017. Avid boating enthusiasts, they boated from Dubuque Iowa all the way down the inland river system to the Gulf of Mexico... ultimately arriving in Cape Coral where they now still reside. Rich is a 200 Ton Master Captain and as such, provides Captain services for all types of boats from 100' yachts to fishing vessels of all sizes and varieties. Jane manages a local downtown Fort Myers Retail shopping emporium called "The Franklin Shops" - 80 shops under one roof where you can find unique clothing, home décor, art , and jewelry. Rich and Jane are available for any and all questions pertaining to The Boat House and the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area.

Why they chose this property

The Boat House has wonderful amenities which is self evident, but also has a great location close to excellent restaurants, beaches, grocery shopping, waterfront dining, miniature golf, bowling, waterpark, and fun bars. The neighborhood is very quiet, safe and friendly. There are two airports nearby to get you in and out quickly: Fort Myers International Airport (RSW) and Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). Looking for a quick and economical flight? We recommend the Punta Gorda Airport - Allegiant Air.

What makes this property unique

We have a beautiful dock on a direct gulf access canal. You can sun on the dock and fish from the dock. If you wish to rent or bring your boat, we have a boat lift available. Please check with the Rich for further information.
