Enjoyed a very relaxing three night stay at Magnolia Cottage. Clean, comfortable and perfect for the escape from the world we were looking for. Spent many hours out on the kayaks and SUPs enjoying the water. Would love to stay again.
The location could not have been greater! Very private with amazing water views! Beds were super comfy. Everything was clean and neat. The fishing and crabbing from both the beach area and pier were a ton of fun! We would definitely revisit!!!
Fantastic location and well done cottage. Great spot to relax and let the teenage boys fish and kayak. Highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to relax.
This was our second stay at Magnolia Cottage. Great views, good fishing and a well appointed clean cottage for our group of 5 adults. We really enjoyed use of the paddleboards and kayaks. If you're looking for a nice cozy place to unwind, this is it.
I stayed here with my daughter and 3 grandsons and it was a wonderful getaway. We all enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards, the fire pit, and my grandsons caught a ton of fish! The house was clean and so nice not to have to bring sheets and towels. Very quiet and peaceful.
We stayed here a second time for a family reunion. The location was very convenient for us. The setting is lovely and quiet. The house is very well-equipped with thoughtful touches like power strips on some of the nightstands for charging phones. We were mostly at our relatives’ house but Magnolia Cottage was a comfortable home base. The owner responds quickly to messages too. Nice place
We stayed here for a nearby family reunion. The cottage is cute and is in a really beautiful and very quiet, very rural waterfront setting. The beds were comfortable and there were some nice touches like power strips on the nightstands. The bathrooms are pretty small and lack counter space but we made them work. Check in was easy and Karen, the owner, communicates well. All in all, a nice stay!
My wife and I merely wanted a few relaxing days to unwind and relax. And, that is exactly what we got at the Magnolia Cottage. Close to White Stone, Irvington and Kilmarnock. "Adrift" might be one of the best restaurants we have ever visited. (Thank you Host for that suggestion.) Thanks for everything!!
This property was top notch excellent for a quick long weekend stay! The beds and linens were absolutely the best and honestly reminded us of our stays at expensive Disney resorts! It is quiet and secluded but close enough to Kilmarnock if you are the type who need a little entertainment or sit down restaurants. The fishing and crabs were great! There is lots of sea life to engage young children’s interest in the Chesapeake Bay and the wifi is fast for your teenagers scrolling and streaming needs! The place was clean with a cottage country vibe set behind a beautiful magnolia tree. We have nothing negative to say about our trip! The only bad part is there were lots of jellyfish and we could not swim or use paddle boards but that is seasonal and no fault of the owners…that’s nature! We will definitely return and recommend this outstanding property!
My husband and I spent a long weekend at Magnolia cottage.
The views from the house and property are stunning. The area is quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the use of the provided paddle boards and enjoyed fishing from the dock and a picnic waterside.
Magnolia cottage is decently appointed, clean and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to provide a few simple pantry items like salt/pepper and maybe some dried seasonings as we did find those items not be stocked and had not packed them. Otherwise, the cottage had what we needed for a long weekend getaway.
The owner was very communicative and checked in with us upon check-in day to ensure we were able to find and access the cottage without issue.
If you're looking for a cute cottage to get away from it all for awhile and reconnect with nature, this is the place for you!
I spent a week with my wife and two teenagers. Everything was as advertised. The communication, checkin and check were all smooth. The owners were very nice and super considerate and helpful.
The location is beautiful and you will love the kayaks and stand up paddle boards to check out the protected waters teeming with fish and wildlife. Very peaceful and quiet location. Excellent for the adults. The kids brought an Xbox of course. I highly recommend this lovely place and would definitely return.
If you're a road biker you will love the miles and miles of smooth country roads. For a nicer dining experience, make sure to visit the Tides Inn. We rented a boat on boatsetter.com for a day. I highly recommend that. I am from the coast of Maine, so believe me when I tell you that the coast in this area is idyllic.
Will definitely be back! House was very clean with all the amenities you need. We had a great girls weekend and enjoyed the fire pit, paddle boards and game room to name a few. The beds and couches we very comfortable. Very relaxing weekend.
Magnolia Cottage is very comfortable. Being right beside the water lent for beautiful views of sunrise and sunset, birds, and recreational use of the paddleboards and kayaks. We enjoyed our week-long stay and found it very peaceful and relaxing; fishing and crabbing and local activities. Tangier Island is a must see. All applinaces worked well. The bathroom pocket door needs a handle to aid in easy opening and closing. Dedicate shelves in the kitchen to store food items.
Wonderful weekend on the water. My children had a great time paddle boarding, and the home itself is beautifully maintained. We picked up fresh steamed crabs nearby, enjoyed a family movie and reading by the fire pit.
We were looking for a retreat on the water to have some family time and reconnect. Magnolia cottage, with its beautiful water frontage and views, large outside space for playing games, grilling or just relaxing and gazing at nature in the adirondack chairs with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, fit the bill perfectly. We enjoyed kayaking (host provided) from the easy access, sandy beach and wine tasting at the nearby Goodluck Vineyards, as well as grilling local seafood. The house is very clean and well-appointed with comfortable beds, modern kitchen appliances and ample space for four adults. Our host, Karen, was very responsive and kind. It is just such a beautiful setting and a welcoming rental and host. We will definitely be back again!
Whatever we needed was there. It was very clean and comfortable. We loved paddle boarding and kayaking, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Sitting at the pic-nic table playing cards… watching movies, playing pool. It was a wonderful 4-day holiday. Don’t miss Eddie’s for frozen custard!
We enjoyed our time at Magnolia Cottage. The house was clean, well equipped with items we needed in bathrooms and in kitchen. Karen was really communicative and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Perfect size for a family of four. We had a wonderful time.
