Peaceful immersed in nature… exactly and more than we could have wished for. Kayaking… the stars… golden grasses teeming with birds and insects. Truly magical. Well appointed in every way. Pride of ownership and true dedication to their guests having a perfect stay. All of this and Peterborough just a few minutes away.
We absolutely loved our stay. The house not only was exactly as pictured, but also very well-appointed and beautifully constructed. We were thrilled to see bald eagles, bobolinks, hummers, cedar waxwings, bluebirds, goldfinches, swallows (barn and tree), and even a turkey family with babies. We kayaked every day and fished from the canoe. The house is in a great location, because of the gorgeous meadow, and it is easy to go from there to restaurants, hiking trails, and other lakes. We would definitely consider returning!
Clean, everything you need! If you like the outdoors and wildlife check it out. Nice community. Swimming, hiking and golf courses in the area. We will be back again!
This property was absolutely beautiful with big windows and tons of natural light. The house was clean and the kitchen was nice and big. The outside spaces were also very enjoyable with a big outdoor table, fire pit and grill. The property itself was beautiful to look out on with the pretty flowers planted in the garden. The lake access was also wonderful with over 5 canoes and kayaks available and a beautiful and large lake to explore.
Property was absolutely gorgeous - house, landscaping, field, everything. House was modern, comfortable, clean, and had everything you would need. Sitting outside on the deck overlooking the field watching and listening to the birds was the greatest part of the stay! So much wildlife around - hawks, eagles, hummingbirds, herons, deer, coyote, river otter, and fish. Absolutely the best home stay we’ve ever had!!!
We had a great time. The property was lovely and we enjoyed using the kayaks on the water. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed for cooking meals and the entire property was set up for fun. My bird-loving daughter had a ball with the binoculars and saw several new (to her) species. The tv didn’t go on once!
Beautiful place. Everything was perfect. Maybe we needed instruction for the heating. We were cold the first day trying to figure out how to raise the temperature. After that everything was very nice
Our group was a couple & single adult staying four nights while attending a wedding. The location is quiet with a sunny stunning overlook of a open fields-a bird preserve-to a pond with nearby mountains. The house in beautifully designed for shared space but also provides privacy. Simple elegant furnishings plus kayaks & paddles. It could not be more perfect. I’ll come
Back with friends for a vacation or alone to work/hike/paddle.
We rented this piece of paradise for 3 nights and 4 days, so that our family could all be together.
Family came from all over to enjoy this weekend (New Hampshire, Dallas, TX and California).
The location was amazing, the proximity to the pond for fishing was convenient for sure, and the surrounding area of the property is absolutely beautiful.
Everybody in the family loved the property and had a great time.
Thank you to the hosts and to their younger son, who was kind enough to take us out on his boat for some morning fishing. Great fishing guide Finn!!!
We will be back!
This house and everything included gave us the best possible experience in Hancock. My husband and I were joined by our adult children for a week long vacation. We celebrated my sister's (who lives in Hancock) 85th birthday. The house was like a 4 star resort. Beds were all very comfortable. There were 5 adults but there was room for a 6th. The kitchen was fully outfitted with everything we needed for making meals there. We barbecued and had room for 8 people to eat on the deck. Our adult children made use of the canoe and kayak which were at the landing on the property. We went to nearby restaurants and got take out as well as cooking at home. We will definitely plan on staying in this fabulous house on future trips.
Spent a quiet, peaceful week here in late March while visiting with family in Massachusetts. This property was just as clean and new as advertised in the listing. Very updated interior finishes and comfortable beds and furnishings. Serene and isolated location without being too far off the beaten path off rte 202. Peterborough had plenty of restaurants and a good sized Shaws to give access to groceries and the ocassional meal out. ("Beepa and Lulus" was a solid find for Breakfast or Lunch.)
The home was very cozy and warm on some frigid early spring New England days. My wife and I are not birders, but the house was ideal for keeping track of whatever flew across or landed on the huge field and pond in back. The outdoor environment was perfectly framed by that wall of windows off the living area. There was even a pair of Bald Eagles fishing off the edges of the ice most days we were there. The home had a spotting scope and plenty of binoculars to identify the birds from a distance without disturbing them.
Would loved to have been there when the weather was a bit warmer to enjoy boating and fishing on Powder Mill Pond. Elmwood Road, and the driveway to the home were not paved, but despite what was obviously some significant recent snowfall, and wet and slushy conditions, were both easily negotiated with a passenger vehicle.
(Ping Pong table in the basement provided hours of fun to occupy down time.) Owners were very responsive and helpful prior to the stay.
The house is excellently designed, furnished, and equipped; the grounds, pond, and surrounding countryside beautiful. We craved a few days of ease, serenity and deep quiet, and found it.
Beautiful property with an amazing view with the added bonus of Kayaks/Canoes and access to Powder mills ponds. There were many hiking trails nearby (less than 30 minutes drive) and once our morning hike were done, we spend most of the afternoon at home (cooking, playing Ping-pong) and evening by the water kayaking. Deck had an amazing view of morning, night sky and mountains. We also had a family of porcupine visit us in the evening.
We love absolutely everything on this lake house. It was a very relaxing family vacation. The birds and the view are amazing. Close hikes to explore, plenty of games to play in the house and outdoors. The pond is clean and my husband, my son and dad had a lovely time fishing. The town is only 6 minutes driving from the house. The Hancock beach was so nice. My kids had a blast jumping of the docks and swimming. I recommend 100% this rental lake house. Thank you so much for everything!
We booked this house, hoping for a nice place for some family time. We were blown away - the house itself is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we could need. The setting was unbelievable- it was peaceful and truly amazing to look out upon the pond and see and hear so many different birds. We absolutely loved this property!
We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to visiting again! The house was comfortable and well appointed. The property was breathtaking. We felt right at home and completely distanced from the everyday stress of life at the same time.
