Its origins trace back to 1537, when the villa served as a casa collonica with small guard tower overlooking the valley and nearby Castello Mugnana. The sense of history remains in every stone.

La Valle has been restored with a gentle hand. Original stone walls, timber beams, limewash finishes, and historic proportions have been preserved, while refined touches elevate the experience: antique French armoires, chandeliers softened by age, curated fabrics, and contemporary comforts that never disturb the villa’s vernacular charm. Great Stay at Le Valle

Gorgeous property with all the comforts of home. Santiago and Lucia were phenomenal caretakers all week of our family and the property. The owners are extremely responsive and have thought through almost anything you could need while staying here. Loved the La Marzocco espresso machine as well! Thank you!

My family of four adults and two young children stayed 3 weeks in June. The grounds of the property are magical; gardens and views everywhere you look. The inside was cozy and had all the amenities needed. Santi and Luli took extremely good care of us and acted as concierges, cooks (extra service) and friends. We loved our stay and will come again. I've been planning for this dream vacation for over 10 years, and I'm beyond thrilled to have chosen this magical place for it. The photos do not do the beauty of this villa justice, it far exceeded any and all expectations. The host was phenomenal, helping us plan for the best possible vacation, and the property managers, Tracey and Danele, were truly the ones that made this trip so special. Close to a plethora of incredible restaurants, towns, and amazing Tuscan countryside, I cannot recommend this place enough. A huge thank you for allowing us to enjoy your speciplace.

Pure joy in Tuscany

We had the most wonderful time at the villa. Very easy to get to Florence and the grounds are truly lovely. Santi and Luli are now our friends and Fabrizio the chef is magnificent. Our kids loved the pool, picking vegetables and fruit and running all around. The kitchen is great and easy to use, and their guides make your stay fun to plan. I can't imagine why we wouldn't be back! Thank you so much.

Perfect vacation

This is a perfect Villa for your vacation. It is stunningly beautiful in a great location for easy day trips throughout Tuscany. We were a group ranging from 8 to 80 and everyone enjoyed their stay. The welcome dinner with Fabrizio was excellent. The beds and furnishings were very comfortable. Having Netflix made it easy for the kids to wind down after a day of touring while the adults sat outside with a bottle of wine and took in the view. We made pizza’s in the wood fired oven and roasted chicken on the grill, and everyone loved the pool. You really don’t need to look any further. This is an excellent home for your vacation!

Simply magical

Le Valle is nothing short of magical. You feel the familiar comfort of being at home while at the same being pampered and cared for by the wonderful hosts, Lucia and Santiago. The view, the villa, the grounds, the pool(!), and the vibe were second to none and surpassed all our dreams. The best meals we had during our 2 week European adventure were created by Fabrizio. He is not only a world class chef, but a world class human being. Would love to come back again. Highly recommend.

An amazing Tuscan vacation

We were warmly greeted by the amazing house managers Daniele and Tracey who live in a separate home on property. They showed us the lay of the land and how everything operated. They took care of any issue however small quickly. Two of our daughters took a bedroom each within the main house and the third was happy to reside in the guest cottage by herself. There was plenty of room for everyone! My husband who is an avid cyclist rented a bike from a local shop who delivered and picked the bike up from the villa. He went on several 60 mile rides through the region while we relaxed poolside. In the afternoons we took day trips to Florence and several towns within an hours drive. Definitely hire Chef Laura for extra meals. She is amazing and so talented. She taught us how to make pasta in the villa’s kitchen and it was a great family activity. Barry and Jody were lovely to deal with before we arrived and are very knowledgeable about all things and places. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your amazing home!

You can't ask for anything more perfect and lovely

La Valle is the most amazing property with a fantastic, perfectly appointed home with the kindest, most caring and gracious caregivers, Tracy and Daniele. There aren't enough adjectives to describe it all. The location of the estate is great. 30 minute quick trip to Florence, 10 minutes to a nearby town, an hour to Sienna and San Gimiano. The property itself is breathtaking and immaculately kept and cared for. We spent every afternoon enjoying the beautiful pool and sat on the patio for dinner and drinks on multiple evenings. The sweeping Tuscan views look like something out of a postcard. The house itself is spacious and gorgeously decorated. We are a family of five with three teenagers and two parents and there was more than enough space for everyone to have their own privacy but also have spaces for coming together. The kitchen is amazing and has everything you could need should you decide to cook! But just as wonderful as the home and the property are Tracy and Daniele who helped with anything and everything we needed and are caring, interesting wonderful people. Having the beds made each day as well as the dishes done was a true treat. Getting to know them was even better! They helped with everything from reaching out to a chef to set up a dinner at home for us to making sure the espresso maker was prepped and ready for each morning! Finally, the first evening meal with Chef Fabrizio was a true Tuscan treat from a personable and fabulous chef! Amazing!!!

Tuscan Fairy Tale

So many great things to say about Le Valle. Leading up to our stay, Barry and Jody were frequent contact, providing detailed information about the house and surrounding area. They were quick to respond to any question and gave well informed recommendations for restaurants, wineries, activities, and even parking in Florence! On the day of arrival, Santiago and Lucia, the property caretakers were there to meet us and give us the grand tour. A welcome dinner provided by chef Fabrizio was the perfect finish to our arrival day as he is both affable and a skilled chef. The property itself is located about 30 minutes from Florence and within approximately an hour of many notable towns like Siena and Volterra. The house is away from the hustle and bustle of Florence and basically in the countryside near Strada in Chianti. The house and guest house are as advertised and depicted in the listing. There entire property was ours and included a fantastic pool and multiple outdoor areas to relax. Wood burning pizza oven? Yep. Garden with countless tomatoes, basil, lettuce available to pick and eat? Yep. Plum tree with tasty fruit? Of course. The kitchen is well equipped including a top of the line espresso maker to provide the best espresso you could ask for. All the bed rooms have air conditioners and the guest house living room is also air conditioned. The main house living areas were cool enough even in the middle of the summer heat wave if you strategically kept the doors and windows closed during the middle of the day and opened the windows in the evenings. Santiago and Lucia were super friendly and always available for any issues. They provided basic cleaning and trash removal on most days. If you want to truly immerse yourself in storybook Tuscany, this is the place to go. Thanks to Barry and Jody for sharing their incredible estate!

Absolute Perfection!

Everything about this beautiful property was perfect for our group of family and friends. The villa and guest house are appointed for comfort and enjoyment. (Coffee lovers in our group were delighted to start each day with cappuccinos brewed in the professional espresso machine!) We rotated among the four outdoor eating locations, enjoying the views of olive groves, the Tuscan hills, and the sun setting behind the nearby castle. Caretakers Santiago and Lucia ensured that we were well taken care of throughout our week and we loved our welcome dinner and pizza making class with chef Fabrizio. The location allowed for easy trips into Florence and the surrounding countryside. We had very active days, and days spent on site, hiking the trail that surrounds the villa and lounging by the pool. (The pool was especially popular with our tweens, as was the chess set!) Le Valle more than lives up to the reviews and the description you’ll find here. It was the centerpiece of a fantastic Tuscan experience.

It doesn’t get better than this!!

When we rented La Valle we had high expectations based on the property description and it’s multiple 5 star reviews. But as we drove through the imposing gates and down the long winding driveway we knew that this property was going to vastly exceed our expectations. As we got out of our cars we were met by the “welcoming committee” who gave us refreshments and introduced us to the property. We were literally without words. The house and gardens were impeccable maintained and they are jaw dropping gorgeous. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. The housekeeper, Valeria, was such a pleasure to be around she was so helpful. Fabricio the chef, who cooked our welcome meal, was nothing short of a exceptional. In fact that meal was so delicious and the experience so wonderful that we hired him to come back to cook for us later in the week. While at the property we were kept busy swimming in the beautiful marble-lined swimming pool, at the pizza oven, playing ping-pong, and taking hikes. The information that the owners left for us was so helpful. We were able to take wonderful day trips throughout the Chianti region, we visited several wineries and the cities of Pisa, Luca, Siena and Florence. But the best part was always coming back home to La Valle. And e e plan to come back again soon. We give this very special property our highest recommendation!!

Paradise Found

My family and I had a truly special experience at La Valle. The house is beautiful and provided an ideal "home base" for all and the guest cottage was perfect for my cousin and her family - affording us all a bit of privacy when desired. The pool and gardens are gorgeous. We spent two weeks at the property, with many side trips to the charming villages and markets nearby. The house is in an ideal location for action-packed day trips to Sienna, Florence, wineries, etc. or for a quick trip to a local market for a picnic and relaxing day by the pool. The hosts are extraordinarily generous with information about things nearby to do and see. Suffice to say: The wonders of La Valle defy complete description - you'll just have to go and experience this magical place for yourself!

The getaway of a lifetime!

This property is nothing short of breathtaking. From the moment you pull up to this majestic place with it’s regal gateway, you are instantly transported to a Tuscan dream! The house is impeccably kept, and perfectly located near all the best wineries and restaurants. The interior design of the house is perfect for the setting. Waking up to a coffee overlooking the hills, hiking the scenic grounds, or sitting near the pool with a glass of wine—these are experiences you’ll never forget! I could write a whole separate review on the outdoor wood fire pizza oven, but suffice it to say, one of the very best parts of our trip! I would stay at this property over and over again, and strongly recommend it to anyone who wants an authentic and memorable Tuscan experience :)

A Slice of Heaven on Earth

We had wonderful stay at Le Valle. It has stunning views of the Tuscan countryside along with a breathtaking pool setting, relaxing porches and a beautiful gardens. The inside of the villa has been completely renovated with the finest materials and touches. The staff is second to none and couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Peter and Maggie are wonderful care takers that made sure we were comfortable. they were always happy to answer questions and help us with daily plans. Valeria, the house keeper, couldn't have been more friendly. She went out of her way to help make our stay more than we could have ever hoped for. Fabrizio, the chef is an absolute gem. We have not had better meals anywhere in the world. If you are staying at this property, you need to utilize Fabrizio. The property is also very close to Florence and Sienna making day trips very easy. There are multiple little villages/towns with restaurants and grocery options nearby as well. We had a great stay at this property. It has a magnificent setting with views of the surrounding hills. The interior of the property is very comfortable and spacious. A Trip of a LIfetime!

Our trip to Le Valle was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we engaged Barry and Jody on the planning, the level of detail, professionalism and personal touch was second to none. When we arrived at Le Valle, we were greeted by Peter and Magi who not only run the property with an unmatched level of service and attention, they quickly became dear friends. The same is true for Valeria who kept the villa immactulate and the amazing chef, Fabrizio, whose creations we are still drearming about on a daily basis. We cannot say enough about the incredible service and support. The villa was everything we imagined and more....so beautifully restored and the furnishings were stunning. The property itselfis a slice of heaven on earth...private, serene and incredible views of the rolling hills of Tuscany. The location was perfect, far enough out for privacy yet close enough for excurions to nearby villages and of course Florence! We loved every minute and the only issue is that our stay was too short. We hope to have the opportunity to visit again one day. For our last family holiday before the kids went off to college, this is one that will have a permanent place in our hearts. Thank you Barry and Jody for sharing your exceptional home!

Exeptional holiday

Our family spent one week in this amazing house in the heart of Tuscan. Simply this was the best holiday house we have ever rented. The house is perfectly and sensitively renovated, it has it's soul and spirit. The property is so large that you can not see any neighbour. Sunset on the terrace is unforgettable. Definitely worth of money. We would like to return there next year.

THE PLANNING: 9 of us planned our dream Tuscany vacation for over a year. In our online search, Le Valle captured our hearts from the very beginning. The setting appeared breathtaking and the detail in both the descriptions and the pictures made us feel like it was clearly the place for us. The owners promptly answered every question, and the information they provided for us about the area was so incredibly helpful and thorough that it saved hours of travel planning on our own. THE ARRIVAL: All of us were so excited to finally be in Italy that our anticipation for arrival at the villa was barely able to be contained. When we finally drove into the long driveway winding to the house, we were speechless before we even got out of the car. As beautiful as the pictures are, they could never capture Le Valle in the serenity of its setting. With the afternoon sun lighting up the whole valley and casting a warm glow over the face of the house and the outdoor dining patio, we felt like we had become part of an artist's painting. Peter and Magi, friends of the owners, were there to greet us and graciously showed us around the house. Every room seemed to surpass the previous one, and by the time our orientation tour was completed, it was clear that this spectacular home had far exceeded our expectations in every way and we had only just arrived. OUR WEEK: Although we took full advantage of Barry and Jody's travel suggestions around the area, our most meaningful hours were spent at the villa. Their beautiful home became our home and within the first day we felt as comfortable being there as if I had designed and decorated it myself. Their attention to every detail both inside and outside the house revealed both their love for the property and respect for its architectural history. They have created a spectacular setting that is its own experience. For us, dinner on the patio in the late evening, with the garden lights softly highlighting the face of the house and listening to the quietness of the valley were very special moments that we looked forward to each night. And the meals prepared for us by Fabrizio, a local chef who cooked for us on two evenings, were indescribable. OUR REFLECTION: The richness of Tuscany, the serene beauty of Le Valle, the warmth of every person we met during our stay here, all combined to make this Tuscan estate not just a place to stay, but a place to be experienced. Exceptional

Jody and Barry have created an exceptional home in Le Valle. Immaculate grounds and a crystal clear pool, stunning furnishings and decor, picture perfect views, and helpful and friendly property managers and housekeeper - we simply could not have asked for more. During our stay at Le Valle, we felt spoiled by the beauty of Tuscany and truly relaxed. Le Valle is within 30 minutes (or less if you know the roads) of Florence, and only a short drive to Strada and the picturesque Greve in Chianti. With so many wineries, fabulous restaurants, and the kindness and generosity of the locals, we understand why Jody and Barry chose this location and feel so lucky we got to enjoy their home for a short time. We'll be dreaming of Le Valle for many many years to come.

Tuscan Family Vacation

We had a wonderful stay at Le Valle! The property and location are fabulous, as well as all of the people that you have involved. The kids loved the gardens and fruit trees around the property! And of course the pool. We also really enjoyed our pizza making w/ Fabrizio the Chef. Thank you for the various recommendations in the area! We spent a great day having a wine tour in Montalcino. We also spent a beautiful afternoon in San Gimignano, as well as a nice bike ride in Lucca on our way from Portofino. The dinner recommendation was super in Lamole and the lunch was fantastic in Greve. Florence was only a 30 min drive, which we did on 2 occasions. Great 1 ½ hr. private tour to the Academia and a trip to the top of the Duomo that the kids enjoyed.

Summer vacation in Tuscany

Beautiful villa with amazing views of Tuscany! It was hot and the pool was a perfect way to cool off plus had very comfortable lounge chairs. We stayed in the guest house, which was very comfortable and also had a/c. The main house did not have a/c but did stay comfortable considering the summer heat. The people that took care of the villa during our stay were also very nice and helpful in guiding us.

Le Valle Strada In Chianti

The Villa was extraordinary. Amazing old house perfectly renovated with all modern amenities on an American standard - large washer, dryer, fridge, freezer, alarm system, stereo and TV. Beautiful views of vineyards and olive groves. Gorgeous landscaping. Antique furniture. Amazing pool perfect for relaxation at end of a day trip. Only 15 miles outside of Florence - about 45 minute drive including parking. Perfectly situated for wonderful day trip sightseeing. Daily maid service delivered by a charming housekeeper. Only problem is that many rooms are not air-conditioned but the pool more than made up for that. More than what we had even hoped for.

Beautiful Tuscan villa

We spent a week long vacation with extended family at Le Valle. We were greeted by Peter and Magi, who immediately made us feel at home. The property is absolutely amazing, no detail is overlooked, and everything is maintained to the highest standards. The grounds are manicured to perfection and the saltwater pool is great. The villa is very modern and comfortable all while preserving the character and charm of Tuscany. It is conveniently and centrally located for exploring Tuscany. We rented a car and went on day trips/wine tours every day. On shorter days, it was so nice to come home and relax by the pool and dine on the outdoor patio. Fabrizio, the chef, is such a treat. He is so gracious and accommodating, and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is satisfied. He came to the villa 3 times, and cooked for us some unforgettable meals, and those were the most relaxed evenings. Finally, Valeria, the housekeeper, is also very kind and warm, and makes sure the house clean and organized, without being intrusive. We will for sure be back!!

We have had a long, long love affair with Italy. It was a dream realized when we bought La Valle in 2004 and restored it. We always say that our possessions are loaned to us and we are only the caretakers for a period of time. This holds true for La Valle as it is over 500 years old and has seen many lifetimes in its history. Our visitors have remarked about the incredible energy of La Valle and we felt that energy when we found the property after having seen over 100 properties In our search. We love sharing La Valle with others as the home comes alive when it is enjoyed by guests who make beautiful memories during their stay. We keep a guest book and it is wonderful to read the stories that our guests write after staying here.

Why they chose this property

We chose Le Valle because of the absolutely magical setting, its history and the 'great bones' of the structure. Located just 20 km from Florence we are in the country yet have the advantages of Florence less than 30 minutes away. Additionally, we appreciated the hundreds of miles of hiking trails right outside our front door. We never have to get in the car to hike to a wonderful restaurant, to see a waterfall or to pick wild berries and flowers.

What makes this property unique

Waking up to the sound of birds singing and the silence of the countryside. We look at beautiful vistas from every room of the house. The air is clean and the setting dreamy. Our local village of Strada in Chianti is close by so we can choose the best produce and local specialties from our merchants. We are one of only two American family, as far as we know in Strada, and the locals are very welcoming to us. We have over 300 olive trees and every Fall we harvest our olives and press our own delicious oil.
