Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Virginia Dare stands waiting in her garden to greet you as you enter this beautifully decorated cottage. The vaulted ceiling great room is stylishly decorated with quality & comfortable furnishings in true OBX beach style.

This home adopted an African Wild Dog Pup - Travel with Purpose when you stay with us and assist in global efforts to help save this beautiful endangered species!
All the space you need to relax and rejuvenate in the Outer Banks, Downtown Manteo! The easy-use kitchen is simple but complete and perfect for preparing meals. BONUS - your own private propane grill on your patio at the entrance! The cozy bedroom has a queen-size bed and comfy reading chair, walk-in closet, and attached bath w/ newly renovated tile shower. Outside, enjoy a brick patio and figs in season. Virginia Dare Cottage has wifi accessibility, Smart TV, off-street parking for one vehicle, easy access, and is centrally located to all the attractions Roanoke Island has to offer. Located behind the main residence, Austin House, in the historic area of Manteo, Virginia Cottage is ready for visit to the Outer Banks.

Everything in the cottage is accessible to guest. Your reservation comes with several discounts to local businesses!
Other things to note
One bath towel and one wash cloth provided per guest during their stay. The Austin House is made up of three separate and unique spaces: The Historic Austin House (accommodates 4), Lil' Austin House (accommodates 2), and Virginia Dare Cottage (accommodates 2). Please inquire with your host if you are interested in renting more then one space!
As our guest you are a member at The Village Beach Club in Nags Head! Opens around Memorial Day until approximately Labor Day.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Leave in a pile in hamper or bathroom. Leave bed alone - do not strip!
Remove all trash from house (kitchen, bathroom, etc) place in dumpster outside of house. Make sure all dishes are clean, dry and put away. 
Turn all lights off. Set AC to 74 in summer and Heat to 68 in the winter at departure. Lock all doors & windows at your departure. If a key was used please put it back in lockbox.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Detailed house rules will be sent to you via message once your reservation is confirmed. If you have questions prior to booking please ask your host!
Any violation of outlined house rules can result in loss of damage deposit to canceled booking with no refund

Great location - walk to downtown/marina. Met some really nice locals at a vintner’s reception.

The cottage is lovely, perfect for two people! Everything we needed was provided for a very comfortable week’s stay. Its location is perfect, only a few short blocks to the happening downtown center of Manteo. Also the best ice cream store is right across the street from the cottage!

Great stay!

Great stay for a couple! Cute cottage. Was good location in Manteo. Easy walk to the waterfront, shops, and restaurants. We also found it a nice central location for exploring other parts of the Outer Banks. The cottage had everything we needed and Gia the host is really nice and a good communicator. Would definitely stay again.

Little Gem

This property is perfect for a couple's getaway to OBX. Wonderfully convenient, easy access, up to date, beautiful, and prime location in Manteo. My wife and I loved this place so much, all we have talked about since we've returned, is when we can go back. I've rated VRBO properties 5 stars in the past, but wish I could give this property 10 stars!

Manteo cottage

This Manteo cottage was perfect for our short get away. The cottage was very clean and relaxing, it had everything we needed. Walking distance was perfect to downtown Manteo for shopping and dining. Gia, the property manager was a gem. She checked in with us frequently via email to assure we had everything we needed. I would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in Manteo. This is my second stay at this property. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy the great location, intimate setting, and proximity to the Manteo waterfront. It's a quick hop over the bridge to the beach. By far, Gia is the best property owner and communicator, going way above and beyond any expectations. She is not intrusive, but sincerely dedicated to making sure every aspect of your stay is 5 stars. We love this property, and are already talking about when we can go back!

Peaceful clean and quaint

Clean updated and perfect for an overnight or weekend trip. A renovated garage with comfortable bed and close walk to downtown Manteo. Property is directly of 64 but was peaceful and quiet. Wifi did not work so no TV the entire time. Place was clean and comfy. Gia was friendly and responsive during our stay.

Weekend visit to Manteo

The location was perfect for us as we brought out bicycles- perfect distance to shops and to the festival park. Parking on the property was a bit tight with our truck but very doable. The mini kitchen had everything we needed to prepare lunches and snacks while we were visiting. My husband and I both enjoyed the comfort of the bed- we are picky!! Gia was very responsive and gave lots of local suggestions!

This adorable cottage was ideal for my weekend in Manteo! The location can't be beat—easy walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping.
