Roomy Outdoor Getaway close to Pipestem Park and Winterplace Resort.

Athens is a small, safe, friendly community. The house is within walking distance of restaurants, and convenient stores. There is a very nice town park which has been renovated with all kinds of new equipment for kids and work out equipment for adults. There are college level sporting events within walking distance at Concord University. There are four waterfalls within an hours drive and water fun to be had by all, at three different nearby lakes. We always recommend Pipestem State Park because it has so many activities like: horseback riding, zip lining, splash park, lake with paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, and a beach area with inflatables in the water. It also has three golf courses, (a regular 18 hole, a 3 par 9 hole course and putt putt), along with loads of hiking, biking trails, and even ax throwing.

Great stay. Cute charm. Owner was easy to talk to. Home was clean. Kitchen had everything I needed to cook. Only negative is the beds were really hard.

So glad you enjoyed your time in Athens, but sorry you thought your bed was hard. This is the first review that we've had that someone thought the bed was too firm. Not all the beds are firm we try to have different firmness mattresses maybe you needed to have tried a different bed.

The house was just as advertised. It was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay. Being from (hot) Texas, we loved being able to rock on the front porch both morning and evenings.

Perfect last-minute get away

We decided to take the kids skiing one more weekend before they went back to college. It was the perfect place to stay! Host was super communicative and the house was just as advertised! Powder fell the day we arrived- perfect weekend!

Host was great, even left us Chocolate chip cookies! Which were awesome! Was a little bit uncommunicative on our arrival day but other than that was great.Everything was clean and nice. Things that stood out were the wall heaters they were nice for us as it was easy to hang up ski clothes in front of to dry off. Living room area needs a bigger couch or some recliners. Only 2 couch’s and one was a Two cushion couch so not enough room for 8 people to sit in there at once unless you pull some hard kitchen chairs in or sit on the ground.

Family ski trip

Excellent trip! There was a snow storm while we arrived and into the first day. Steve and Tina made sure the sidewalk and parking spaces were shoveled and there were chocolate chip cookies waiting in the kitchen.

Loved the older house. Enjoyed the neighborhood, and the host were always in contact. Only thing missing was tv access, or I just didn't understand how to turn on. Maybe get a Roku and guest can use own Netflix or Disney account. All things needed for kitchen/grill and restrooms were available and clean.

Great house close to concord university

Great location perfect for what I was needing. Went to spend time with my daughter who attends Concord university. Walking distance to the college and dorms. House has everything you needed to make a nice meal, beds were very comfortable, ample parking Only thing I would add to make it better would be basic cable. The hosts were very nice and communication was above 5 stars! Will definitely visit again!

Great stay

Very comfy farm style house. Upstairs has two adjoined bedrooms(perfect for a pair of children) with another separate bedroom and a full bath. Another bedroom and full bath on the first floor. Spacious and comfortable with a nice yard in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect option for outdoor activities at Pipestem Park and surrounding areas. Will definitely stay again when I find myself in the area.

Perfect stay for a ski weekend

I booked this rental for our first time skiing in Winterplance. When we arrived on Friday, it was snowing and cold, the owner was so nice that they shoveled snow for parking (3 parking lots). The house is clean and big enough for 3 kids to play. Each room has its own heater to keep you warm overnight. The best part is the hot water, it never runs out and keeps hot for showering. I will come back next year.

Good for a short stay

The host left cookies and snacks which was very thoughtful. Not a bad place at all. There are some pretty sketchy apartments directly across the street but we had no problems. They were letting off fireworks but quiet by 11pm. The bed was a bit rough but I am pretty picky about that. Just way too hard for my liking. I did find it very unusual that the lost showed up unannounced shortly after we arrived. That was a first for us. There's also no TV, just older DVDs to watch.

Convenient to campus

This property is very convenient to Concord Uni. Street is a little busy at night, but that's out of the host's control. The only "ding" is related to the accuracy of the listing as there are only two window unit air conditioners: one in the living room and one in a bedroom. So while the property is listed as air conditioned, it's not the whole house. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and the three without the air conditioner have box fans to put into the windows. Host was super responsive when we reported 2 box fans not working. However, for our stay, we only had one very warm night where the 2nd floor bedrooms were quite warm. But, for the rest of the stay, the evenings were cool. The kitchen is over the top supplied. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Since you stay, we have put a much larger window air-conditioning unit in the living room , And put another window air conditioning unit in the other bedroom upstairs. Unfortunately, it has been very hot recently. We have addressed this issue to make the house much more comfortable. Thanks for your stay and hopefully you will return next year For Concord University’s Carillion event to see the improvement in the house.
