This is a 3 bedroom (1 queen, 2 doubles), 2 bath home centrally located to Acadia National Park, the other island towns, and Bar Harbor with all the amenities of home. We provide everything you need - all cookware, dishes, linens, soaps (dish, laundry, bath), basic cleaning supplies, trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, etc. There is a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, washer and dryer. There is cable TV and WiFi. There's a BBQ grill on the deck - a nice quiet place to enjoy the sunshine; and a picnic table and patio table with umbrellas on the lawn. Pets are welcome too!
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Absolutely in love with this cottage! From the moment you arrive, it feels warm, welcoming, and truly like a home away from home. Janice has thought of everything, providing all the little touches and necessities that make a stay comfortable and relaxing. She is an excellent hostess—kind, thoughtful, and attentive to her guests without ever being intrusive. You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure her guests have a wonderful experience. The cottage is a special place, and I cannot wait to stay here again!

The location of this rental can’t be beat. We stayed a week with out toddler and it was so nice to have separate rooms and be so close to everything. We were 10 minutes away from a market, lake, visitor center, and more and it really made our trip so nice. The home is older and our main issue was the musty smell mentioned in other reviews. We kept windows open most of the time and that seemed to do the trick. No issues with check in and the host answered questions beforehand quickly. We would stay again if we ever make it to Maine in the future and would recommend this place for small families.

Janice’s home is cozy and in a great location. Hiking and food are close by. We thought we had an issue with the refrigerator and contacted Janice and she got back with us quickly and offered to remedy the situation if needed. Thankfully it wasn’t needed. Our family had a wonderful week staying at 8 Gemstone and 100% recommend. Thanks so much!

Our stay at Jan’s cottage was absolutely wonderful. The cottage is spotless, beautifully maintained, and full of thoughtful touches that made our stay extra comfortable. The location is ideal: tucked away in a quiet spot for peace and relaxation, yet just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It was the best of both worlds—close to all the attractions but with the privacy and calm of a retreat. It’s the kind of place you look forward to returning to after each day’s adventure.

Great place!

Our family of 6 enjoyed our stay on Gemstone Way! The house met our needs very well and the location is perfect for short trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The house did have a lot of pet hair around, but if you’re not bothered by that it’s a great place to stay! We are very thankful for our time here and we hope to stay here again!

We loved it. It was right on Mt. Desert Island and 10 min from everything, including entrance to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. We got the best of both worlds- the town and people amd then went to our secluded quiet space at night. The house had everything we needed. We could not have asked for more:)

Great location

The home is in a great location, close to everything. Its small, but just enough for the 3 of us. The only bad thing i can say about the house is the musty smell. Noticed it every time we can back from our excursions.

This house is located within ten minutes of Bar Harbor /Acadia. It is well equipped with all you need for a week long stay. It was very clean when we arrived and provided all you need to maintain that. Checkin and check out was easy. Although we didn’t need it communication with the owner was available . We would definitely stay here again.

Annual MDI Trip

Janice‘s house was exactly as described. It is a very good location to get to the hiking trails on the busy and the quiet side of Acadia. We had plenty of room for the two of us and our two dogs. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of fans and the living room and two of the bedrooms have some kind of AC system on the wall. It was perfect to keep the place comfortable. We already booked our time for next year.
