300 Yds on Sidewalk to Hardings Beach; On Private 1.5 Acres.

If you have children or grandchildren, Blue Skye is for you. Lots of lawn to run and play, but they are far from the street and other off-property houses. Curl up with that book or just close your eyes because you know this house and yard is perfect for them.
Hardings Beach - the most popular area beach because of its warmer, calmer water, wide clean sand, and a one mile beach walk to the lighthouse. It's a 2 minute walk with the children along a wide pedestrian sidewalk to the beach. Use the Red Flyer wagon to take the kids down to the beach. Look for the seals, boats heading into Nantucket Sound, wind surfers, fishermen, the famous fish weirs off shore, and lots of shells to find.
Pick your Hideaway - is it the screened porch, front porch swing, a rocking chair under a shade tree, or a sunny spot far away from the kids playing on the lawn?
Need to borrow some sand or lawn toys? Look under the porch.
Bring your bikes and store them under the porch. The Cape Cod Bike Trail goes for 22 miles and is only a 4 minute drive up the road.
Outdoor Private Shower
Dining room table will seat 10. 8 can easily sit at the porch table, and 6 at the kitchen table.
Den is a separate room with sofa, chairs, internet ready TV with DVD, and coffee table/floor space for games and toys.
The property also includes a separate 2 bedroom cottage that is rented during the summer; however this cottage is located by the road, is 200' from your house, and is shielded by numerous trees, bushes, and the car parking area. A 2 bedroom cottage is near your house; however this is not rented out and it's entrance faces in an opposite direction. One of my children may use it at some point during the summer to help me with the upkeep and maintenance of the the property.

312 Harding’s Beach Road

The house easily accommodated our family of 6 adults and 4 grandchildren. It was very comfortable, well equipped, and loaded with Cape Cod character. The grandchildren really enjoyed the large yard and were very happy with the short walk to one of our favorite beaches. Our entire family really enjoyed our week at this property.

Great place for a family vacation

We had such a great vacation hosted by the McDonalds house. The house is roomy, has the cape vibe, is super clean, and fit all 10 of use comfortably. This house has a quick walk to the beach and is set back to have a private relaxing yard. We would recommend this to anyone hoping to have a comfortable stay on the cape with easy access to Hardings beach. Working with the McDonalds is easy and everything is even better even than the pictures convey.

We had an amazing time staying at Tom’s property. The location was so ideal, especially for family, as we could see Harding’s Beach from the end of the driveway. Tom was extremely hospitable and friendly in ensuring we had everything we needed. The neighborhood is perfect too as it’s quiet and family friendly, but you’re less than 10 mins drive away from most places you’d like to go in Chatham and Harwich. House had plenty of room for congregating, hanging outside on two decks, and lounging in the yard.

Wonderful home with all the amenities

This is a beautiful, spacious house with everything you need for a vacation. We used the American Flyer wagon to cart our beach stuff to the beach, a 5 min walk. The kids used the boogie boards. We relaxed on the front porch with a great porch swing. The upstairs has great AC and the bedroom downstairs also has AC. Communication with the owner, Tom, was excellent.

The house was better than advertised. I almost want to give it negative reviews so I will be able to rent it next year. The area is the best kept secret in Chatham and the house has old school charm with all of your modern conveniences. The owners have gone out of their way to ensure you have everything you need and have a great stay. I cant wait to return.

A very nice experience

The house was in excellent shape, and the kitchen was quite large and very well stocked. The front yard provided a place for our granddaughter to play, and the beach was only a short walk away. An extra bonus was that the daughter and granddaughters of the owner were staying in another house on the property, and one of the granddaughters was very nice to our granddaughter.

Beautiful home in a great location

The house was just as described. Clean and comfortable. Rooms are nicely decorated. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots/pans and equipment. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch. Also tons of beach toys, umbrellas, chairs, etc. so no need to haul your own. Short walk down to the beach which was easy with kids. All around great stay and highly recommended.

Perfect for Large Families!

This is our families's 2nd year renting this lovely Chatham home - and once again we came away with great memories!! Like many " empty nesters" our birds have flown to different shores, and to be able to gather them all, along with our 3 young grandchildren for a week of sun & fun was our dream. This house is perfect for that....plenty of room for all to spread out. 5 comfortable bedrooms ( the 2nd floor with central AC, which was really appreciated this year!), updated eat- in kitchen with high-end appliances, a family room with tv and board games, spacious living room and dining room. Our favorite gathering place was the huge screened in porch, where we had family dinners every night ( table seats 8-10). The yard is huge and well landcaped, private and set far back from the road so we felt comfortable bringing the little ones out to play. And did I mention the Beach? Hardings Beach ( which has been rated among the top 10 Beaches for Families in the US) is a 2 minute walk ( from the end of the driveway) along a wide flat sidewalk - which makes it easy when you have a 1,3 and 5 year old in tow! This was one of our grandchildren's favorite daily Chores- packing up the large red wagon provided by the Owner, with sand toys, umbrellas , beach towels ( again, all provided by him) to start out for our adventures at the beach. And you are just minutes of driving distance from the Town of Chatham, with all it's great restaurants, shops etc to enjoy. Blue Skye is a vacation Rental that has something for Every generation, and the owner Tom is a pleasure to deal with. What else can I say? We'll be back next Year!

The McDonald family welcomes you to our family reunion home, Blue Skye. The Clan MacDonald has its roots on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, hence the name. We have 4 children who span an age range of 21 years, and we are now blessed with 10 granddaughters. We are not members of Planned Parenthood but probably should have been. Our primary home is in Hudson, Ohio, and our children are presently in Swampscott MA, Vermont, Utah, and New Zealand. The dining room table has seen many a lobster dinner and late night family remembrances (some of them true). Tom is a retired general contractor. His extra time includes tennis, bagpiping, piano, boating, and golf. Barbara is a retired residential architect. She enjoys working with various service organizations, gardening, reading, and being a grandmother.

Why they chose this property

We had stayed here when it was a B&B, but eventually when the B&B experience with children became difficult, we rented other homes in the area. We continued our friendship with the property owners through the years, and in 1996 when we found that our friends were selling this property, we took a giant leap into the unknown. It's a wonderful place for grandchildren, and we're thrilled that our children and grandchildren love to come and visit us in Chatham.

Blue Skye is uniquely situated 300 feet from the sidewalk with an expansive lawn and privacy from other properties. Children have plenty of room to run and play, and parents can always find a quiet place to get away from the activity. There are gardens, both annual and perennial, and the blooming hydrangeas make the property magnificent in the summer. The beach is accessed by a wide sidewalk, and it is only 300 yards away. Go down many times during the day! It's only a 2 minute walk.
