About this property

Downstairs Level Of Two Story Home in Bass Hbr. Upstairs is a separate rental.

This is a Saturday-to-Saturday vacation rental for up to 4 adults (adults only).
The spacious deck of the Downstairs apartment is only a few feet from the water's edge at high tide. The front door, approached from the parking area and gardens, has a small deck with two steps; the sliding glass door on the harbor-side deck is accessed by a ramp.

The sliding glass door opens into the living room area. The living room has a beautiful sliding glass door view of the harbor, and the windows add the head-of-the-harbor view of the mountains. There are two comfortable arm chairs and coffee table, gas fireplace, books, and ROKU TV in the living room, with the kitchen and dining area just beyond.

The small kitchen has a four-burner electric stove, microwave, fridge, and a good variety of pots, pans, dishes, and utensils; cleaning supplies under the sink. There is a small dining table for two in the kitchen area, and the deck has a round picnic table and four comfy chairs if you care to eat outdoors.

The harbor side bedroom has a queen-size bed, two side tables, dresser and closet. The study in the room next to the bedroom has a desk, twin sized bed, dresser and closet.
Being a cozy apartment, it is perfect for a couple.

There is a full bath just a few steps away: all tile; tub and shower. Plenty of fresh bath linens. Supplies you might need are under the vanity.

The deck wraps around the side and front of the house and is shaded part of the day by the Upstairs deck. There are the outdoor table and four chairs, and a grill. It’s a wonderful place for watching the gulls and eagles and other shore birds, the boats coming and going, the fishermen with their lobster boats, and the sunset over Bernard, across the harbor: great opportunities for making some memorable photos.

There is central heat; fans for ventilation if needed; all linens (bed, bath, and kitchen) are provided. Immaculately clean. Lovely decor.
No smoking, no pets, not appropriate for children.

Glad to be on 'the quiet side': Views are beautiful. Bass Harbor has been photographed for the cover of a National Geographic book about New England and has been the site of several movies. The lobster fishing boats are always interesting, and if you love wildlife, eagles soar over the harbor daily. We counted twelve herons in the low tide one September day and have watched loons, ducks, terns, and gulls work the harbor.

Although we're only thirty minutes from Bar Harbor, we are essentially very different. Bass Harbor is a small fishing village and working harbor on the southern end of Mount Desert Island. We're called 'The quiet side of the Island.' There's plenty to do here: The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Wonderland and Ship Harbor (part of Acadia National Park) are only a mile or two away. At Little Island Marine, the small boatyard which shares the peninsula with the house, Island Cruises makes nature trips Monday through Saturday, and charters private fishing or sailing trips. Restaurants are within easy walking
distance.
