Mountaintop Getaway with Sunset Views

Located in scenic Avery County, secluded yet close to town, Alpenhaus is located at over 4000 ft. The house features 2 enclosed decks and is surrounded by woods on 3 sides. Wake up to green trees outside your bedroom window or watch the sunrise reflected on the mountains. Look out for foxes as you enjoy breakfast on the south facing deck. In autumn, watch the leaves change from green to hues of red and gold. Enjoy a game of golf at Mountain Glen Golf Club or take a short drive to Grandfather Mountain or Linville Falls, drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway or go hiking or rafting, see the stalagtites at Linville Caverns and then come back to appreciate the sunset from the living room window. In winter, enjoy a day of skiing or sledding at nearby Beech Mountain or Sugar Mountain. Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing is also nearby. Return home, build a snowman and enjoy the gas log fireplace which takes the mountain chill off the evenings. Experience our fully appointed kitchen if you choose to eat in or venture out to local restaurants in nearby Linville, Banner Elk, Boone, or even Asheville. Enjoy the Wooly Worm Festival, Valle Crucis Fair, Music on the Mountaintop, Land of OZ, Singing on the Mountain, Highland Games, Shag at Sugar, Oktoberfest at Sugar Mt., Arts and Crafts shows, and much more. This was my second stay here. Nice location high on a hill above the town of Newland. Unit was clean and internet worked well for business use while there. Nights are quite, with faint sounds of the town if your outside. Enjoyed the stay.

Annual Mother/Daughter Trip

Comfortable home surrounded by nature with beautiful sunsets! Host was very accommodating! Close to Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. Look forward to visiting again!

Lovely spacious vacation home with an outstanding panoramic view of the mountains. Inside, all rooms and facilities were spotless and very well-maintained. The kitchen cookware and accessories were easily the most completely stocked we've ever encountered in a vacation rental. Ditto abundance also for linens and bath items - and always plenty of hot water, even for mutltiple guests. Hosts were very helpful, accomodating,and friendly throughout the entire rental process. Highly recommend this property especially in autumn leaf season - spectacular!

My husband and I loved it. The road getting there is very narrow, but the driveway was easy to get in and out of. It was very clean. The view was spectacular. I sat with my coffee looking at the mountains. I would stay here again.

Beautiful and accommodating

A lovely home inside and out. Very roomy, comfortable and clean. Bonus: going up and down the outside stairs to the door or taking a little walk down the road was good exercise! Great communication from hosts. Would love to visit again in the future!

Nice quiet location above newland

Nice location everything worked as it should there is enclosed deck on the upper level and an open deck below. We did not spend a lot of time at the unit since we are out doing other things.

Love this house!

Our stay was very accommodating and comfortable! Beautiful new bathroom! Plenty of room and privacy. The view of the mountains was astonishing. We would love to return when it is warmer. The property owner was very helpful in answering our questions before arriving and met us when we arrived.

Lovely cabin with great views

Landlords were wonderful. Cabin was very cute. Very clean and neat. Fabulous views. Only downside was the road to the cabin is steep.

What a quaint, relaxing place hidden in the hills of Newland! Located near local attractions & tree farms, this vacation rental will be a place our family returns and our friends will all hear about. Very comfortable accommodation in a convenient location close to Newland.

We arrived late at night and the hosts were most considerate to turn on all the lights and unlock the door so that we were not struggling in the dark. We had a most comfortable stay with beautiful views of the mountains. We highly recommend this property.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are a magical place to live. This house is right in the woods and has many windows so you seem to be outside even when you are in. There are many different birds, and a family of foxes. The cool evening mountain air is just the thing after a warm summer day.

What makes this property unique

After a day of shopping, hiking, walking, or sightseeing, this is a cozy and comfortable home to return to. It is near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls & Linville Caverns. Avery County is centrally located so you can be in Blowing Rock or Boone in 30 miniutes or less or venture further to Black Mountain or Asheville.
