The Barnwell Estate filled our expectations…a stunning historical home, plenty of space to spread our wings and a host that was more than helpful and accommodating. Definitely check out this property!!
Fantastic location in downtown Aiken - had business trip that required space to sit and talk Extremely comfortable setting, and lots of great distractions with the pool and game roomHighly recommended
Beautiful home!! We loved the historical feel and at the same time everything had been updated to make the stay exactly what we hoped for. The home had absolutely everything guests could want or need. Host Tim was 110% responsive to every question I had during our stay. Would HIGHLY recommend a stay at this amazing home.
Has everything you need! Space for a big group- great game room, pool and outside space and plenty of bedrooms. Very close to restaurants and shops- historic home with lots of charm.
Our multi-generational family had a wonderful visit for the holidays at Barnwell Estate. The Christmas Tree was a wonderful addition that made our holiday get together extra special. Tim was quick to respond to our questions and the home was stocked with everything you need. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels and supplies. The pool, hot tub and game room were big hits with the kids and adults alike!

Thank you for the great heartfelt review! I love that the house celebrated a Christmas with you!
We had a large family staying together, 11 plus a dog, and this was perfect for us. We used the double oven to help prepare for Thanksgiving dinner items that we took over to my in-law's house. Having the extra kitchen/oven space was invaluable. We used the game room and the workout room in the converted garage. They kept the kids busy and allowed the adults to keep up on our workout routines. It was a great stay.
I was in Aiken for a golf weekend with friends and we loved staying at Tim’s house. It was a great location (walkable) to downtown and very close to tons of great golf courses in and around Aiken. We look forward to staying there again!
We really enjoyed our stay. Great for our ladies golf trip. Beds were comfortable. We did some cooking and needed a few items like a cutting board and oven mitts but found everything else we needed. We did have an issue with the cottage A/C. Overall we were very pleased.
The house was the perfect spot for a weekend golf getaway with friends and family. Close to Aiken golf club and Palmetto. Walkable distance to restaurants and bars. Just an absolute perfect location. Will be booking again for next year ‘s trip.
Four couples came to Aiken for the spring races. The house was just as advertised: great location, very clean home with wonderful amenities (gas fireplaces, outdoor seating and grilling area, pool etc.). The host was proactive, communicating with us prior to check-in with all the necessary details.
What a beautiful historic home! We wanted to stay longer! The rooms were supersized with 12 ft ceilings, so many restored historical elements, decorated with oversized comfortable furniture, beds were amazing, new appliances, incredible backyard with pool and outdoor kitchen. Owner was super helpful and the property was impeccable! Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your beautiful home!!!
We had a great stay in this beautiful historic home. It was the perfect space for our group of seven ladies: spacious, beautifully renovated and full of character. The roomy bedrooms and comfortable beds, along with plenty of bathrooms and nice spots to hang out, gave our group plenty of space to relax together. One of our favorite parts of the house was the outdoor area, where we spent a lot of time relaxing and catching up.The kitchen had all the basics we needed, including coffee, and having toilet paper, linens, and towels provided made things super easy. The location’s great—quiet neighborhood, just a short walk to restaurants and shops and a quick drive to other spots around town.Tim was a fantastic host: friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, due to a major storm the night before we arrived, the pool wasn’t usable during our visit. While that was a bit of a letdown, we know that these things happen with weather. Tim kept us well-informed and did everything he could to address the situation, which we really appreciated.Even though the pool was out of commission, we still had a really nice, laid-back stay and appreciated having a comfortable, well-kept place to be together.
Beautiful historic home with a private and grand feel! Barnwell is charming and very comfortable - perfect for a weekend tennis tournament trip. We slept very well in the primary bedroom and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor spaces and walks downtown. We’d stay at Barnwell again in a heartbeat!
Betsy and Tim have backgrounds in hospitality and small business. We love hosting because of the standards we expect when we travel. We are lovers of golf and family and hope you can enjoy both while in the Barnwell Estate.
Why they chose this property
The downtown Aiken area is so fun and welcoming to guests. We love being able to walk down to the restaurants and stroll home while stopping in a shop or two.
What makes this property unique
This property is VERY special. It is over 100 years old and has had great stewards of the property over those years. It underwent a large renovation just under 20 years ago to bring it to the current state it is in. There is a wonderful collection of photos in the kitchen photo album to document some of the changes. The original home has fire places throughout which were signs of the wealthy in the original footprint.
