Villa Andromeda is a unique semi-circular design reflecting the maritime heritage of Crete. Designed by a well-travelled family as a private residence, the villa sits high on its own private 4000 meter plot with 180 degree sea views. Luxury, Space, Seclusion, and Relaxation were foremost in our minds for the design. Equally however we wanted a thoughtful and safe environment for families where everyone can relax and find their own peace and privacy in total safety.

The villa is situated outside the village of Kokkino Horio made famous by "Zorba the Greek" and is a few minutes from the lovely village of Plaka and just down the road the beaches and restaurants of Almirida. The area is easily accessible from both Chania International Airport 30 minutes away or Heraklion.

The Western end of Crete is more lush and green than the Eastern end and the endless azure of the sea gives way quickly to mountains and unspoiled interiors full of olive groves and historic sites. Chania itself is worth a day, full of the history and atmosphere of an ancient Venetian stronghold.

Master Bedroom 1 has a private terrace, private bathroom, and its own luxurious stone bath.

Bedroom 4 features a lovely large bunk bed and children' writing desks.

The Kitchen is arranged with a Breakfast bar so that the chef need not be excluded, and features high-end appliances and everything needed to prepare simple or fanciful meals.

A separate dining area extends into a full sitting room. The whole room can be opened to the terrace to give a feeling of infinite space and warmth.

The villa has a gorgeous roof terrace which is safe for the whole family yet affords stunning views of the bay.

Immediately outside the kitchen is a lovely shaded dining area, and outdoor barbecue facilities.

In front of the villa is a stunning infinity pool with a dedicated children's "splash pool" to one side, shallow and ideal for toddlers.

The villa, totally enclosed by high fencing and walls, features several levels of gardens and at the very end has its' own "sundowner" spot magically perched above the sea and outside the walls.

Villa Andromeda naturally features full Satellite TV, WifI Internet , Air Conditioning, Solar Power, Video Security, Alarm system, and just about every necessity for a smooth running vacation.

A house manager lives a few minutes away and is on call. Daily house cleaning can be arranged for a small fee. Many further services are available on request.

Luxury villa with gorgeous views

Beautiful property overlooking the bay. The amenities were great, very comfortable rooms and great pool and outdoor space. This location is a bit of a trek from the road but worthwhile once you get there.

Wonderful view

Enjoyed the stay. Lots of interesting things to watch from the house. From ships and boats entering and exiting the harbor, planes arriving and the goats were alway entertaining.

Spectacular views. Spacious villa - super clean. Angelina was super-helpful - was there to meet us in the dead of night when our flights had been delayed - there's a great BBQ - the kitchen's great - you'll enjoy yourselves - but you do need a car!

The house is very spacious and clean. It overlooks the ocean and mountains with great sunsets. Pick a suitable car for some clearance for the road leading up to the house and best to arrive during daylight. Nearby villages have great tavernas with short drives. Would recommend.

The owner responds quick at any questions. During the stay property manager Andreas took really good care of us. The Villa is very nice situated, in a private surrounding. The pool area is the best with a lovely infinity pool with panoramic sea views and perfect with a connecting kids pool or relaxing pool during sunsets. We highly recommend this Villa, the owner and the manager.

The most spectacular place!

Villa Andromeda was truly amazing - the house and the views could not be beat!! It was the perfect location for our family trip and we hope to return as soon as possible! I can’t express in words how stunning the location is, and the house is built to capitalize on the view and a sense of outdoor living. Angelina and Dimitrious were so helpful, and even met us on the road when our gps failed on our first arrival and we took some wrong turns in the dark of night. Everything about this house was perfect for us and we loved Plaka, Almaryda, and Chania as well. Best vacation ever.

The place to be

We spent 2 lovely weeks in august 2017 in this marvelous villa. The location and the view are amazing. On the top of a rock, 200mt over the sea and the Souda bay in front of you. Best moments during the day: waking up in that place and dreaming during sunset. It is baby friendly and the swimming pool is the place to be. 10 minutes driving from nice beach, shopping, restaurants. The manager of the villa, a very nice and friendly person, took care of us everyday. We are all missing Creta and the villa!! Daniela

Amazing Villa

This villa by far has been the most amazing villa ive stayed in, the view that you get is eye watering! It sets the mood and its just such a good vibe, you also have absolute privacy. It feels safe. The only very small inconvenience was the road to getting to the villa, but if you go with caution and slow. You can make it to the villa with any car small or big, just be cautious of the rocks. Other than that... i will be coming back with the family next year. Looking foward to it! Special thanks to Angelina and the repair men for the quick response when needed!

We have been holidaying in this area for 20 years. This villa is by far the best one we have ever stayed in . Its spotless. The view well you cant describe you just have to stare and stare - and take lots of photos!! As other reviews said hire a 4x4 for the road and better you arrive whilst it’s light for the first journey. The villa itself is immaculate, well looked after , well maintained, good air con, good water pressure and hot water for showering, tip top sheets and towels, beds really comfortable slept like logs as its so quiet with the electric blinds down, windows open to the sound of the sea crashing on the rocks below, the mid week clean was immaculate and the staff looking after it cant do enough if you need to sort anything out. As we know the area well it was easy for us to know nothing was very far away even thought it feels isolated it is not. Thats the joy of this villa. Tranquility and awesome views.

Wonderful home away from it all

This home is just as described modern and feels like ship with beautiful views and a pool. It was easy to enjoy evenings outside watching the sunset, swimming, grilling, eating dinner outside. Each bedroom includes a bathroom which was great for our group. Beds were comfortable. The main floor had plenty of space to relax and cook. The pool deck had many loungers and the house provided shade for much of the day. This house was perfect for us, but be realistic about how you spend your days. If you want to head out to explore parts of crete each day, it is 20 mins to the main road. The road in requires slow careful driving as parts are not paved. We rented a toyota yaris and it was fine as long as we watched where we drove. We really enjoyed spending beach time and eating lunch in Almyrida which is about 10 mins from the house. The town of Plaka about 7 mins away had nice village tavernas and grocery stores. The kitchen had nice amenities inc large fridge, dishwasher, coffee pot, kettle, panini press and the host left welcome snacks that we enjoyed. I would happily spend another visit here!

Away from it all...

The property is in a superb location on the edge of the cliffs overlooking Souda Bay. A section of the road to it isn't entirely finished yet, but the journey is definately worth it, not least to achieve the quiet and solitude that the villa affords. The villa itself is wonderful. Orientated east/west, it makes full use of the morning shade and the evening sunset (and prevailing breezes), and also provides ample sun or shade as required across midday. The available space is huge and the bedrooms all have a sea view and are en-suite. Our party consisted of individuals 23-82 and everyone thought it was great, with plenty of areas, both inside and out, to come together, or plenty of space to find a quiet corner to read. The information pack sent well in advance was comprehensive and much appreciated, making lots of useful recommendations. Angelina, the on island host, was superb, exchanging texts beforehand, greeting us on arrival and briefing us, being there for us when we had a power cut (she experienced it as well over 10km away), and ensuring check out went smoothly. All things considered, a fantastic holiday in a fantastic villa that deserves five stars. Definately somewhere we would like to stay again.

Absolutely amazing

We had a wonderful week staying at this villa, it was absolutely perfect. From the first moment of walking into the villa, the view is breathtaking. We have stayed at many places around the world with water views and this was one of the most stunning views of any place we have been. There were 6 of us travelling together (2 families with 2 adults and 1 child) and this villa was perfect. It was very easy to get to from the airport and the house manager and property owner couldn’t have been more helpful to ensure we had clear directions to arrive. We arrived to a beautiful view and a nice welcome package of some food and beverage items already there which was greatly appreciated after travelling overnight and 2 flights to get there. The villa was large, clean and had everything you could need for a wonderful week stay. A short 10 minute drive brings you to a cute beachside town with many restaurants, shops and grocery stores. We did several day trips from there to other areas of Crete. Every night we would watch the sunset from the amazing patio area and watch the ferry and cruise ships sail out and in. The driveway into the villa is an experience in itself and we are happy our first drive in was during the day! We would absolutely recommend this villa to anyone wishing to stay in Crete and are already looking forward to returning one day!

Unbelievably beautiful property

How can you improve upon perfection? Stay at this incredibly lovely property. From the moment we arrived at night to the minute we left the property to fly home, we could not have asked for more. Robert, the owner, was very responsive to all questions and has an extensive welcome booklet with recommendations of things to do, places to eat, and info about the house. Andreas, the manager, provided us with enough food to feed us for a few meals. This lovely consideration for our comfort was really appreciated since we arrived after dark and a long flight. When we awoke in the morning to the incredible view, we were just stunned. Needless to say, we didn’t want to leave this amazing house and pool area to explore the wonders of Crete. We did however and were very appreciative of the recommendations. We are already thinking about when we can return and enjoy the relaxing peace of Villa Andromeda. Thank you Robert and Andreas for helping to make our vacation so special. Tip: try to arrive during daylight since the drive down the long narrow road the first time can be a bit daunting in the dark. Though after the first drive to the villa, it is much easier to maneuver.

Our stay at Villa Andromeda was phenomenal! We had absolutely no complaints or issues. The villa is absolutely beautiful and situated in a great location right over the ocean. The pool is pristine, and the grounds are beautiful. The villa itself is stunning, and intelligently designed. There was no need for A/C, as the villa naturally is cool and breezy even on hot days. The outdoor kitchen was excellent. We made a point to enjoy every single sunset on the roof garden during our stay. Even though the villa can sleep many guests, it was just two of us. This was the perfect spot for our honeymoon! It can be difficult navigating to the villa so I don’t recommend trying to arrive after dark. We arranged a transport from the airport. Angelina and Dimitris responded to our every need quickly and professionally. They even paid to have our laundry washed and delivered when the Villa’s washer wasn’t working. If there was anything that we needed, we received a response within minutes. Although we could barely bring ourselves to leave the villa, (even on the rainy days it was beautiful) we did manage to explore Chania and Almyrida. There are many great restaurants in the area and we didn’t have a single bad meal our entire stay. I do recommend working with AutoClub car rental. They have an office in Almyrida and picked us up from the villa to deliver us to our car rental at no cost. We are already planning our next stay, and definitely plan to stay here again. Thank you!

Warning: You will not want to leave!

We have stayed in villas for many years now and each year I try and better the one before (within budget) and although I think I've succeeded so far; this year exceeded all expectations - this wonderful villa is out of this world. I don't see how you could better the views from villa Andromeda (just glistening turquoise sea and glorious mountains) and the stillness was like nothing I have experienced - apart from the day we had 65kms gusts of wind! We had been expecting to be able to walk into the nearest village, so were disappointed to find that it was just that little too far. We were happy to sacrifice this however, knowing that the proximity of the villa was what we gained from having to drive to the nearest tavernas. We did use the local taxi service on a couple of occasions - they wisely drove very slowly along the track to the villa! We had some lovely meals in Plaka and Almyrida at very reasonable prices. The people we met in Crete were all very friendly and happy to help in any way. We had everything we needed in the villa, apart from washing tablets which would have been a useful addition. The beds were very comfortable, I slept so well and to wake up to those views...bliss. The air conditioning, when we used it, was very efficient and extremely quiet. We would advise hiring a jeep-type vehicle as we turned up in a Micra and got a puncture on the second day; the drive down to the villa is very stony in places. Robert, the owner, and Andreas, the manager couldn't have been more responsive or helpful and the welcome pack that was there for us when we arrived was indeed, very welcome! I have only one more thing to say - when can we go back!

Positives: Amazing location with stunning views, well appointed four second floor bedrooms, beautiful pool, close to many towns and beaches, spellbinding sunsets, water and beer left by the management, photographs well. Negatives: hundreds upon hundreds of ants daily in the kitchen, living room, and even in two bedrooms (!) despite no crumbs. Roly-polies, and centipedes galore. Nicely designed, the villa is built and finished cheaply with the trim seams not sealed and insects coming through every gap around doors, windows, kitchen counter etc. We asked to seal the gaps, but were only offered to spray with insecticide and have cleaners mop the floors. We ended up crawling on all fours stuffing paper towels into the gaps to minimize the infestation. Upon arrival - not ready for guest arrival. Cobwebs, dusty floors, the insects, half shower faucet buttons missing , rusty kitchen handles, quarter of the bulbs burned out (and most not replaced despite requests), hot water broken on the second day, one sliding window/door not locking, folding doors jammed in two bathrooms, metal blinds not fully lifting in one bedroom, no curtains except outside metal security blinds that rattle like mad when it's windy (often), repeat questions about security cameras not answered, bent pool umbrella, etc. Not unusual for Crete, but as a contrast to other high end villas in the area - no toilet paper in the toilet and you end up being your own janitor. Not worth it at this price point.

Spectacular!

We were flabbergasted! This property is absolutely amazing. The view of the Mediterranean Sea/ Souda Bay was unbeatable. We watched large Navy and Cruise ships as well as small local fishermen with nets and handlines. Whenever a small tour boat would go by they would always point up our way, to admire the estate. (The only thing they can observe is a white mansion several hundred feet above the Sea.) The house was designed to take advantage of the view. All four bedrooms upstairs had their own including a balcony and bath. Two of the bedrooms had soaker bathtubs, one looking out on the Med. The kitchen and living areas on the main floor would easily accommodate 10 people or more. The kitchen was fully stocked with the very best hardware, including a terrific espresso machine, and a coffee maker for us Americans. There was a wine cooler with a couple complementary bottles and a stocked fridge for our first day. The downstairs was a large entertainment and exercise room and a fifth bedroom with it's own bath. The top of the house was a huge outdoor 'deck" that even had better views, if that is possible! The infinity pool, and patio with numerous comfortable chairs, loungers, and cushions was not to be believed. Every floor and patio were beautiful marble! This is a true country estate, completely secluded and gated. Even the sheep and goats wanted in. (not invited) The property Manager Andreas, was extremely prompt with any questions or concerns and the ladies especially loved him. (Greek with a French accent) He even surprised us one day wearing a t-shirt from our university. Housekeeping was terrific, came twice during our 10 day stay as part of the price. Would come more if we chose. Their are several villages within a 10 minute drive. All with the best of Greek charm. One village was even the setting for part of the filming of "Zorba the Greek." All had their own markets, butchers, and bakeries. The local Dry Rose wine was great and only about 4 euros a bottle! Several restaurants nearby were excellent and very inexpensive. A nearby unique glass factory had the best in the world! That is no exaggeration. The city of Chania is about a 45 minute drive and on Saturday has an unbelievable farmers market, restaurants, shops and Greek hospitality. If I missed anything in this review, it would still be the best their is to offer. If you come to Greece go to Crete and stay here!!!

Nicht gut...

Die Küchengeräte, dreckig und die Griffe der Küche verrostet, Ameisen überall!!! Auf der Terrasse, Wespen zu jeder Zeit , kaum war ein Getränk, geschweige Essen auf dem Tisch. Das Wasser aus dem Wasserhahn nicht trinkbar, nicht einmal zum Zähneputzen geeignet, laut Agentur, da der Wassertank für Trinkwasser kaputt war. Und das zu dem Preis! Incredible property and excellent property management!

The house itself is beyond stunning! Very intriguing design of everything, very well appointed, and definitely a high end feel. The pool and outdoor space was just incredible. The view deserves its own section of this review. COULD NOT have dreamed of having a better view!! Beautiful sunsets every single night. Excellent view of the bay watching the boats come in and out. Infinity pool that makes the horizon blend into the pool. Just incredible!! Andreas, the property management personnel, was great to work with. We got into the house around midnight and he was there to greet us and show the house. He came by the next day after a quick phone call to resolve an issue. Excellent to work with and very friendly. Location is definitely secluded. 2 hour drive from the port in Heraklion that we came in from. 45 minutes to Chania. I’d recommend this to a group that wants to “get away” from the hustle and bustle of a bigger city. The nearby town of Plaka was just perfect for a great dinner and to pick up a few items from the shop. If you are reading this and wondering if you should book the house, please do it!! You will not be disappointed!!

Wonderful experience at Villa Andromeda

Villa Andromeda was everything we expected and more. Robert was a wonderful host with quick responses to any questions. Andreas, the property manager, met us at the property and provided us with a quick overview of the property and a few tips to make our stay even more enjoyable. He even checked in with us after a few days stay with warm croissants! The property has amazing views!! A little off the beaten path but exactly what we were looking for.....peace and quiet. Thank you Robert for sharing your property with us....very much appreciated. We would highly recommend this property.

Amazing place for great vacation !

We loved everything about our stay! The view is stunning, the home is lovely, clean and very well equipped with great design. Robert, the owner was very helpful and responsive at any time. Andreas, the house manager was very nice and helpful with recommendations about the house and surrounding area. The welcome pack was extensive, which was very appreciable as we arrived at night, after a long trip! The path to get down to the villa can be intimidating at first but we got used quickly. Close distance to very charming villages (mini market, fishmonger, tourist shops). 40 minutes to Chania, 60 minutes to Rethymno. We already miss the gorgeous setting sun!

Incredible veiw

Perfect veiw, lovely home, friendly helpful host. I could go on and on and on. My first trip to Greece and this was a perfect way to start it. I've never had such a beautiful veiw to wake up to every morning, or such a beautiful sunset to watch, to close the day. The villa gives you a feeling of isolation but still within close distance to very charming and fun villages. 1 of the best days we had was lunch in the nearby village of Plaka followed by just strolling the area streets to admire the cute homes. The biggest problem with the home? Not wanting to leave it to explore the area. We did though, 40 minutes to Chania, 60 minutes to Rethymno. Andrea's, the property manager was really cool and helpful. He even had some great suggestions. I can't recommend it enough. Derek

Beautiful Stunning Villa

This is a very well equipped, clean villa with absolutely stunning views. Robert - the owner answered our groups emails in a very timely and honest way. Andrea's the property manager was there when we arrived, he is very professional, friendly and helpful with recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. He stressed he was on call 24/7 for us - fortunately we never needed to test this out! He came a couple of times during our stay with warm croissants for breakfast and extra tea bags just to check we were OK and if we had any questions. The final road leading to the Villa is step and curved and the first time we drove down felt like a leap of faith - but our drivers soon became experts in navigating it without problem. We found the local people to be very friendly. A car is essential. We hope to return one day. Thank you.

We are a fun loving, and quite global family and have lived in Australia, Asia, Eastern Europe, and America. We have enjoyed renting many types of homes for our vacations and always made a list of things we would like to see in a dream home.

Why they chose this property

Crete was love at first sight. Villa Andromeda was love at first site ! The setting is simply unbelievable, above the bay on its' own private promontory. The site combines all the elements and appeals to all the senses. It captures the sun all day, there is a constant sea breeze and the sound of the ocean is softly ever-present. We purchased the land and then built a home that is unique in design and thoughtfully laid out for families and groups.

What makes this property unique

We designed the benefits. A safe house and garden. An abundance of private separated spaces to sunbathe, read or snooze. A perfect infinity pool to cool off, coupled with a lovely mini pool so the little ones can splash around and with moveable shade so they can take a dip anytime. A villa that completely opens up to the patio and the views beyond. A well equipped kitchen to cook and socialize from. A great basement area and media room, and space for teenagers to hang out. We think we have put it all into our place and hope you will call it yours for a week or two.
