About this property

Harbor Oasis-Sunny, Serene Harborside Cottage-Stunning Sunrises & Amazing Rates!

Harbor Oasis is a rare find with in-town convenience yet a private tranquil setting on the Harbor. Located down a quiet lane in picturesque Southwest Harbor - a classic Coastal Maine fishing & yacht building community. Just minutes to some of Acadia National Park's favored spots. Easy walking everywhere in town to dine and shop and less than 5 minutes to the Island Explorer bus stop - a free service with stops throughout Acadia National Park and all around the island. A 20 minute drive will get you to bustling Bar Harbor - a great tourist viewing location and souvenir shopping mecca.

The Cottage features a spacious open floor plan allowing conversation throughout the living, dining and kitchen areas as well as TV viewing and a cozy corner gas fireplace. Bedrooms are situated on opposite sides of the full bath with privacy doors for each room. The interior design, curated color palate, and furnishings create a "light and airy" environment taking full advantage of the many windows throughout and highlighting the harbor views. Harbor Oasis offers a delightfully cheery space in all seasons.

The full bathroom with shower & tub combo has a window for natural light and radiant heated tile flooring for "toasty toes" all year long. All rooms in the cottage are on one level with only a few steps from the deck into the house. The large deck features a gas grill and dining table with umbrella and seating for 4. Additionally, 2 Adirondack chairs and cocktail table await you with outstanding views of the harbor and its many seasonal boating and sailing vessels.

There are two entrances to the cottage - one on the front and one via the enclosed breezeway which enters into the kitchen area. The laundry with full sized washer & dryer is located on the lower level with windows for natural light. There is a large private parking area for any sized auto/truck and bikes and an auto-start Generator provides 24/7 power protection.

And, there's more - 2 Adirondack chairs positioned on the shoreline and a Gazebo offers a lovely sanctuary from the sun with tables and chairs - both providing a uniquely Maine Harbor experience with 180 degree views. Photo opportunities abound of our beautiful sunrises, harbor activity and the magical experience of that moment, just before sunset, when the extraordinary light of the sun's last rays of the day illuminate the entire harborscape.

Our location is perfect for easy access to Acadia National Park and the stunning vistas which will surround you. Miles of walking, hiking and biking for all skill levels. There are several water-based activities in our area for Nature Cruises, Sunset Sails and visiting the Cranberry Islands. Also, Miniature Golf, a 9 Hole Public Course, Echo Lake Beach and the Friday Farmer's Market are local favorites. As are the many opportunities to enjoy fresh caught Maine Lobster!

All in all, Harbor Oasis provides a comfortable, carefree and convenient home base for your visit to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park which is why we have been welcoming guests - many returning annually - for over 10 years. We are former local Innkeepers, ready to assist you with your plans prior to and during your stay. Our house is next door and we are always available to offer assistance.

***New in 2026. We are always updating Harbor Oasis - refreshing and refurbishing to keep our property more enjoyable, comfortable and safe. This year we have updated the kitchen with new counter tops and the laundry facility with new flooring, refreshed paint and further enhanced the safety (and aesthetics) of the entrance stairway. We strive for returning guests and new guests to know that Harbor Oasis is well maintained and ready to be your home-away-from-home on Mount Desert Island!

About the host

Host profile image
Corporate Escapees longing to "live where we loved vacationing" came to MDI and thoroughly enjoyed over 25 years of Innkeeping. Retired now, a slower pace allows us to continue hosting guests and sharing our love of this very special island.

Why they chose this property

Southwest Harbor has the very best of a small town community with locally owned and operated restaurants, shops and artist venues - a vibe that is like no other on Mount Desert Island. Just the right size to explore and perfectly located to all points in the park and other towns, including Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bass Harbor.

What makes this property unique

Located on the water in a very small neighborhood, just steps to Main Street and all the town center has to offer. Guests enjoy the outstanding harbor views, spectacular sunrises and a special "surprise" when the setting sun "lights up the harbor" which reminds us of Saint Tropez and cocktails on the veranda. Oh, la, la!
