Notes
- While you can find other vacation houses on “private” lakes, they’re often crowded with people also on the “private” lake. This house is one of only two on 32-acre Lake Weil, and comes fully equipped for family fun: Beach w/ canoes, kayaks, lounge chairs, fire pit, and floating dock; Boat house w/ fishing rods, life vests, and toys; Yard w/ seating areas, trampoline, badminton net, and slide; Gas BBQ grill for outdoor cookouts; Game room w/ pool table and ping pong table. If you want to explore, the house is within driving distance of wineries, historic sites, walking trails, restaurants, golf, tennis, skiing, and scenic towns. If you prefer to stay in, the well-appointed house has comfy reading nooks, games for hours of family fun, and a huge TV. So go ahead, see if you can find anything else like this. Close to NYC, self-contained and private. Just don't delay too long or you'll miss out on this extraordinary vacation retreat!

Ask a questionAbout John Fila
This is part of a family compound that dates back to the early 1900s. At that time, Joseph Weil, a teacher from New York City, began bringing students to camp in the area. This led to the development of a childrens' camp, Weil's Whispering Pines, and the creation of Lake Weil.
John Fila purchased this House in 1910
Why John Fila chose Town of Dover
Ideally situated 1.5 hours north of NYC, The Lake House offers a luxurious retreat in a pristine natural setting. Hudson River Valley and Housatonic River Valley attractions are an easy, scenic drive away. Adventurous antiquing (think Litchfield, CT), top-notch restaurants, unique shopping, rich historic sites, glorious natural wonders, and award-winning wineries are all just waiting for you. After a day of exploring, wander back and relax at the 65-acre estate.
What makes this House unique
Without question this is a unique rental. Lake Weil is part of The Lake House property. You are not simply renting a beautiful, well-appointed home, but also reserving full use of this spectacularly scenic lake and grounds.
