Great location for family Vaca

Great location, walkable to local breakfast spots and under 15 minutes to Venice and Santa Monica boardwalks. Neighborhood was safe and lodging was just as advertised.

Perfect Spot for Our Family of 4

We stayed here for 4 days and everything was absolutely wonderful. Clean, safe, great street parking, great location. When we come back to LA we will definitely stay here again!

Well-located Venice home - recommended!

Memorial Day Weekend in Venice

The house was nicely furnished, clean and easy to navigate. The two outdoor spaces front and back were very nice and cozy great for taking in the sunshine. The location was very good, centrally located with easy access to the beach and downtown.

Wonderful!

The property is in a nice neighborhood with plenty of room, comfy beds, and there are 2 outdoor spaces. Parking was easy and free. The house had everything we needed and was within walking distance to coffee shops and a pizza place.

Easy access to all you need in Mar Vista/Venice

This home was comfortable inside and out. Nice outdoor spaces in the front and back. The kitchen had everything and the host is very responsive to any questions that came up.I would definitely stay again.

Perfect, Private and cozy

We were in Santa Monica for both business and vacation. This was the perfect spot to lay out our work and still have plenty of space to "live". Many air conditioners in the place make it nice and cool. And both front and back patios are completely private and we loved it. While the driveway is really tight (really small car only) the street had plenty of parking and we never had issues finding a spot. Claudia, the host, had the right amount of communication and even gave restaurant and grocery store suggestions in the area. I highly recommend this wonderful house!

Great home for childless couples during cooler months.

This is a beautifully redone home near Venice Beach. It had a nice private patio and a garage which makes parking a breeze. If you have an SUV it would be very hard to get in garage but our midsize rental could be negotiated in! There was a nice front load washer and dryer A couple of things to be aware of No A/C. Since we were out most of the day it wasn't too big an issue, but it took a while to cool down when we came in for the evening. I also was somewhat nervous leaving the windows open at night, but comfort won over safety! I would not travel there with small children. The home had too many rules to keep it nice but it stressed me out especially having a thirteen-year-old. I was constantly afraid the countertop would get a stain. Since we didn't cook much it wasn't as bad as it could be. Summary: beautiful home better for families without children during cooler months and not into cooking.

Perfect Week-long stay for Young Family

We had the best week staying at this house. It was perfect for our small family (we have an 11 month old). Check-in process was smooth, Claudia was really communicative and helpful as we navigated travelling for the first time with our kid. Having the pack and play there was also so useful! The kitchen isn't huge but is very functional, and we ended up cooking and grilling a fair amount. The location is ideal for exploring the West Side, and we regularly walked down to shops and food on Lincoln Blvd, and drove down to Venice proper, Santa Monica, and other local spots. Parking on the street was also so easy! The temperature control took some getting used to. The house would get warm during the day -- we visited in April -- and require aircon [which was available and effective] but would cool down significantly at night, which at times required turning the heat on. This wouldn't have been any issue for us adults, but we were more aware of it with our 11 month old getting cold at night. Otherwise, zero notes! Thank you for the best week!

Perfect for our needs

Came into town for 10 days and decided to do VRBO rather than a hotel - excellent choice. Cute neighborhood, great proximity to stores, restaurants, etc. Well stocked with cleaning and cooking things. Enjoyed our stay.

a great house in a great spot

This house was the perfect size for my family of 3 and in a perfect location for our stay in LA. For an extended stay like ours (7 weeks) there weren't enough storage options for us to comfortably unpack and feel at home, but once we bought our own solutions for that the place felt just like home. There's a lot of rules, some of which are difficult to follow for younger children and became a source of constant worry, but overall they were basically the same rules we'd probably want to follow if it was our own house. Despite all that we were very happy to stay there and very sad to leave.

Charming house, great location!

First of all, we really enjoyed our stay at this house. The house itself is lovely (and super clean!! Even under the beds, where we were a lot because toys kept sliding under there), but the front and back patio really made it for us. We had dinner out there two nights in a row! The house is in a great location (close to fun restaurants, grocery store, the beach and shopping). There are also really nice quiet streets with sidewalks so if you were inclined to walk places it's very conducive to that. (We walked to the grocery store three mornings in a row.) I will also say that although the house is definitely family friendly (they have a Pack and Play and are close to parks) it would probably be better for slightly older kids. Ours are only one and four and I was always a little bit worried that they would try to make mischief, despite the fact that we moved all of the breakable items AND we spent a good deal of time outside. Overall, not a deal-breaker in any way, just something to consider if you have kids that like to climb or open cabinets. If you have a baby or slightly older kids this house is great! (Or perhaps ours are just rambunctious.) Finally, the owners were very responsive. Claudia sent a lovely welcome email and responded immediately when we had trouble finding the Pack and Play upon check-in.

Stylish cottage with great Venice location

Super stylish cottage in convenient, safe location. Perfect for my husband, teenage daughter and me while visiting family. No air conditioning so an extra fan or two would help. Impossible to keep water off kitchen counter (as requested) especially with no dishwasher though kitchen was well-equipped. Afforable, clean and comfortable. Owner is pleasant and easy to cooperate.

nice location and receptive owner

The cottage is a cozy small two bedroom with a lovely front patio. We spent six days in LA, and I found the house centrally located for our needs (and Claudia sends along a helpful list of eateries, shopping areas, etc). We didn't use the grill but one is available nor did we bother with the garage since parking is no problem on the streets. Walgrove can be busy with traffic at times, but coming from New York, not a problem for us. I was very pleased with the owner, Claudia, who returned my emails promptly (and also had a handyman deal quickly with a small plumbing issue). So, overall, a hassle-free vacation, and I appreciate the courtesy and ease in dealing with VRBO, and specifically this property.

Beautiful and Private

I stayed for a week with two adult daughters and a young teenager. This property was very well decorated, clean, safe and private. The interior is as gorgeous and exactly as advertised. There is also lots of closet space for unpacking in both bedrooms. The kitchen, dining and living room were very spacious. I loved the convenience of using the full size washer, dryer and ironing board. Loved having keyless entry to the front gate and front door as well. There is a detached garage which you can easily access from an alley but I found it a little too tight for my midsize car rental. Street parking in March was so easy anyway. The antique teak dining set is gorgeous...but also just a little rickety. I do think that the tableware was a little under equipped. We could have used a platter, a few serving bowls, some juice glasses, condiment bowls, and the such. We were able to keep in touch with Claudia via text messaging which was very convenient and she was quick to reply and resolve. My only disappointment was the front deck and back patio. I really felt like the outdoor sofa was too dingy/dirty to sit on. The outdoor dining set needed to be wiped down before using too, but the only towels available in the house were pristine white. I couldn't even wipe off the morning dew from the furniture. I get it that the house is on a main road, but there was a lot of dust/grime on the furniture. A simple power washing the day before guests arrive would resolve this. As far as the backyard patio (at the time of this review, there is no picture of the backyard space)...it was just underwhelming, uninviting and cold to me.

The Venice home near the beach was great!

The instructions Claudia left were exact. We didn't have to contact them for anything. The neighborhood was quiet and clean. We did not have an opportunity to utilize the outdoor space due to the rain, but it was nice. You have to drive or uber for food and or groceries but it's good options close by. We used Uber for our entire stay and it was cheaper and peaceful to not have to find our way and pay for parking everywhere. We would stay here again if we come back to LA! Thanks Claudia we enjoyed your home.

Clean and Safe

Our first trip to LA so we were a little concern about safety, my husband would be in a Conference and my 12-year-old son and I would be alone most of the time and without a car. The house worked perfect for us, we felt safe in the house and walking around the neighborhood - Mar vista is beautiful and clean. We arrived really late at night and were pleased that the locker system worked smoothly, the house was clean, smelled so good, beds comfortable, the water pressure and temperature in the shower were great, dishes and utensils were sufficient, the furniture beautiful, washer and dryer were a huge help, garage gave us peace of mind. There is no dishwasher, but there is a double sink that made washing dishes easy. The grill worked well and we sat down at the table in back patio for dinners. There is a large deck in the front yard but we found it too noisy and hot to enjoy it, but we appreciated the privacy and distance it created between the front door and sidewalk. The kitchen countertop is butcher block, it might be an issue for some people because of the concern of keeping it dry, but is was okay for us as we have the same in our house. Although the house sits on a busy street, the traffic noise didn't disturb our sleep and we were so grateful there was no loud music around, no noise from neighbors at all. The house is airy, clean and comfortable, perfect for a family of 3 or 4, close to Venice Beach and Sta Monica. Claudia was excellent in answering our questions and supporting our staying. We definitely recommend this house for anybody visiting Los Angeles.

Venice Rental

The 2 bedroom home is very cute I loved the space and its decor. although the outdoor spaces were very large but the fact we couldn't host company made the space useless for me. I understand that the indoor space was pretty small so to have extra guest stay overnight is understandable but not being able to have company over was disheartening especially with all the outdoor space. The house rules were very restrictive especially the one regarding the drinks on the counter top made me very nervous. The butcher block look although very pretty it was not very functional especially since that was the only counter top space in the kitchen. I felt so uncomfortable making sure to pick on after my friends staying with me (the people listed on the agreement) made it for not a very enjoyable stay, so i checked out a day early and checked into a hotel. I've rented homes all over Europe and never had to deal with feeling uncomfortable. The customer service was great all emails and phone calls were handle promptly.
