Really well stocked kitchen and house which had everything you need. Surrounded by beautiful views. Easy to find and park. Generous welcome treats so we didn't have to rush to the shops. Perfect stay!
Such a beautiful home from home, it had everything we needed. It was clean & comfortable and exactly where we like to be. We were greeted with a lovely hamper and sweets & chocolates for the children. Lovely to have outside space. The washer dryer was a lovely bonus which meant we arrived home with zero washing :)We will definitely look at returning.
This was a lovely stop on our recent trip to the UK! Wonderful & generous hosts always available if we had questions! Great location..we were close to all the places we wanted to see! Would stay there again if the opportunity rose!
Fantastic lodge , all you need and much much more , lovely treats on arrival ( we all love a treat don’t we lol ), brilliant hosts , nothing a problem to sort , although we only had 1 minor thing , brilliant location , would def stay again x
The owner was lovely and welcoming even giving a lovely teddy and bucket spade a chock for my granddaughter, and lovely little touches to welcome us,weather was lovely and hot.
Hufflepuff Lodge was quite spacious with a huge bedroom. Perfect for the two of us. Ideal location to reach many places. We found it peaceful and relaxing.
Comfortable and well equipped, great views, right beside A30, good access to bus, but need to tell driver where the stop is when returning. Lots of birds around.
Lovely little property close to everything you could possibly need.
The hosts were fabulous from the welcome pack and surprise Christmas gifts under the tree to the contact throughout to make sure we had all we needed - can’t recommend highly enough.
From first to last it was all we could have hoped for. Welcome Pack to die for; the best we have ever had. Hufflepuff was the perfect self catering holiday destination for any age group. Michael and Julie were the perfect hosts for a perfect stay. The icing on the cake was the unexpected gifts when we left.

We wrote a letter to the owners to let them know of the issues that we had with our stay.
My stay was everything it said it would be and everything I expected. The location was perfect for my plans to walk the western end of the southwest coast path. The bus stop is on the door step and buses serve all the main locations meaning travel was super easy.
Stayed for nearly a month and it became home from home.
Hosts where great.
We had a lovely stay at Hufflepuff Lodge. We were welcomed with a wonderful package of local goodies & a special treat for our little boy. The place has pretty much everything you would need for a home away from home stay. We found the location made it easy to access some beautiful spots around Cornwall & it was nice to come back at the end of the day to a comfy bed! Although we didnt meet the owners we had regular contact with them during our stay offering any help we might need. Definitely recommend!
I'd looked at this property for a few years and finally managed to have the pleasure of staying there last week and it did not disappoint. The main bedroom is so spacious, I felt very relaxed. It had everything needed for a wonderful stay - the welcome gifts were so thoughtful and the jam was delicious. The shed with the beach equipment was great as was the board games. I would highly recommend a visit there and I hope to return soon. Thank you Michael & Julie
Lovely week in Cornwall only briefly dampened by the good old British weather.
Julie and Michael were wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and their welcome was fantastic!
The cottage has everything you need for a base but the location is everything!! We were excited to find some of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall within a short drive away not to mention being able to see St Michael's Mount from the bedroom window.
Lovely stay. Thank you.

ProsNice to have a welcome pack of tea, bicuits. Wine etc.Cons I would recommend a car as the busses are sporadic. No way to get wet clothing dry. Suggest a heated airer, maybe a brolly. Tv is rubbish.
We had the most wondrful family holiday at the Hufflepuff lodge. Communication with Michael and Julie was brilliant prior to our stay and throughout. They sent us some great recommendations for nearby family friendly places. The accommodation was perfect, there was nothing they hadnt thought of. We used the bus stop outside the lodge everyday to go between Penzance and St Ives.
We were overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of the welcome gifts. We would definitely recommend this property and we will certainty be back. Many thanks for accommodating our first family holiday.
We stayed at the cottage for a week and had a delightful time. There were plenty of goodies, flowers and a bottle of fizz waiting for us on arrival. The cottage is on the A30 but traffic noise was no issue though care is needed turning out of the drive. The location is perfect for exploring West Cornwall. The bathroom got a little steamy as the only ventilation was a window but that is a very minor quibble. All in all the cottage added wonderfully to a great trio. Thank you😁

OK
In first the house is ok. But spiders everywhere. In de kitchen there is no hood, so you smell everywhere the air of cooking. The shower water is staying by your feet. A very busy road you have to cross. Carpet in the bedroom was not clean. The mailbox was very loud in the wind.
But for the rest we had a pleasant stay.

Great location
My overall impression was that the place needs some care shown to it to bring it up to a much better standard . The fact it’s up for sale may be reason it’s fallen below such a great standard we had read about in previous reviews . The welcome pack and location is the best things about this stay. The place is tired and needs updating . The barking dog in main house was annoying,Which the owners apologised for. The microwave, toaster , tap in kitchen all need replacing . The linen on our bed was poor quality, pillows were flat as pancakes. The off road parking is great but be warned of the potholes outside the drive . Sadly we would not stay here again .

We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations and appreciate your feedback, as it is only when guests bring items to our attention that we can act on them.
However, we do wonder why you would choose not to bring these to our attention during your stay, when many of these items could have been easily resolved whilst you were with us, especially the kitchen tap which we had not been made aware was broken by the previous guests. We could also have easily pointed out where additional bedding and spare pillows are stored for guests use, had you mentioned this to us. The only issue we may have struggled with was the pothole on the road outside the driveway, which is the Council's responsibility!
We are glad that you appreciated our Welcome Pack and the great location that Hufflepuff Lodge enjoys and that we were able to offer you a much earlier check-in time on your arrival day, as we were aware you had a long journey to reach us.
We loved our stay at the charming Hufflepuff Lodge in Penzance. Michael and Julie went out of their way to make us comfortable and spoilt us with Cornish treats and lovely gifts! I had wanted to visit Cornwall ever since reading Enid Blyton's Malory Towers, in primary school, and they sweetly gave me a lovely set of Malory Towers stories, which was so thoughtful and heartwarming.
Michael really went above and beyond, and picked us up and dropped us off to the station, seeing us burdened down with 6 suitcases and our 10 & 12 year olds!
The lodge is clean, cozy and charming, with excellent facilities, and very close to the bus stop, so we were able to get around the whole place with minimal effort. Michael, even printed off bus schedules that proved very helpful!
The master bedroom is huge, and the kids loved their bedroom with twin beds and gorgeous views!
We would highly recommend this lovely property to all who visit Cornwall!
We enjoyed our stay but the property is tired and smells a little damp. Appreciate the rental price is cheaper than others in the area so cannot grumble but feel it should be noted.
The property is well equipped with everything you need and more, the real bonus is the location, just perfect! We drove everywhere as managed to park easily in nearby villages - we found off street parking in St Ives and Penzance. Visited Kynance Cove, Lizard, Lands End and the wonderful Minack theatre so an idea location to see the area.
Property is off the A30, a busy road at times but it didn’t bother us at all. Views beautiful from the property.
We found quite a few spiders in the property but not that surprised being surrounded by fields.
The owners seem lovely and of course the welcome gifts went down well. Owners sent welcome messages and follow up messages to check we had everything we needed, a lovely touch.
Happy holidaying in Cornwall!

Thank you for your mixed review. We are of course terribly disappointed to read it and apologise if you felt the property smelled damp and you thought it was tired. Thankfully yours is the only review of its kind for many years, however we do appreciate that it is the very end of the season and having been booked solid since January, there hasn’t been a single spare day to touch up or do any maintenance what so ever. This will be addressed over the Winter and as far as spiders are concerned, it’s approaching Autumn and with the best will in the world even houses in built up areas don’t escape them, let alone properties like ours surrounded by fields. The minute the patio doors are open, in they trot! We appreciate that you didn’t enjoy the best weather during your stay and there were many rainy days which may have tarnished your visit somewhat, but we sincerely hope that when you visit Cornwall again the weather is kinder to you. All the best, Julie & Michael.
We stayed for a week and went out every day as the location was brilliant for accessing numerous places of interest. We went to Minack Theatre, Porthcurno beach, Kynance Cove, Lizard, Lands End / airport to visit Isles of Scilly via Skyplane. St Michael’s Mount, Marazion plus lots more ! We also went to Paradise Park as our daughter had a red panda experience booked which was amazing. I think the lodge must have been fabulous some years ago but whilst comfortable it just seemed to lack that looked after tender loving care. The bench outside at the front needs jet washing as it has all sorts growing on it and so we didn’t sit out there. The bed in the large bedroom maybe could do with a new mattress now and black out blinds at the windows would really help as we didn’t sleep too good. Also a lick of paint throughout would really freshen it all up. Love that it has a washer and drier in the utility room and the kitchen/lounge/dining area worked well for four adults. I think it is best suited for a family of two adults and two younger children. We were okay for a week and knew that the second bedroom was small with single beds and our adult daughter and partner pushed them together and said they were comfortable. Having said all that I think the price paid we paid for the accommodation in the location it is situated and for July was fair and reasonable. The hosts were very nice even though we only met them in passing as we were out most of the time we stayed.
Julie and Michael were excellent hosts! Always easy to reach out to and have prepared the house in a very personal way. Quick to reply and always helpful. There's a private terrace in the back, very spacious rooms and a well equipped kitchen area. The house and more specifically the bedroom is located facing a busy road, as a light sleeper that was a problem. Due to closeby fields, insects and spiders frequently showed up inside the house. The hosts were very helpful about this and provided bug spray but if you're sensitive to these things, be prepared. There's room to park right infront and you reach St Ives in about 15 minutes, Penzance even less. The bus stop is very convenient as well.
