Enjoy the Beauty of Acadia National Park! Bicycles are part of your rental!
Please note: Usually, we can only rent Sunday to Sunday for June, July and August mainly due to a shortage of people to clean when the cottage is turned for a new renter. I have just changed that to a 4 night minimum, but please message me before clicking on desired dates, so I can check with my cleaning person to see if the dates work for her. Thank you! All guests must be at least 24 years of age. Enjoy all that Acadia National Park has to offer!! Don't forget that September and October are two of the best months in Acadia as well! No crowds...just beautiful fall weather and gorgeous scenery. We are a short distance to all the natural beauty that is Acadia, and there is no time like the fall for hiking. We are located on what is known on the island of Mount Desert on the 'Quiet Side'. We are away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor.. Relax on our patio and enjoy the garden. The quaint village of Southwest Harbor is nearby. Take the nearby ferries to all the surrounding islands. Some of Acadia's easiest and most beautiful hikes are a short distance away. We have a fully stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Our cottage is heated to take the chill off a cool autumn evening. So come enjoy your vacation in our garden cottage and enjoy the natural splendor that is Acadia!! Two bikes included with rental. We have Wi-Fi.

The property is quiet and beautifully kept. I loved sitting on the patio and enjoying the sounds of birds and watching the bees pollinate the flowers nearby. It was so peaceful. The house had all things you’d need and was cozy and comfortable. The location was fantastic for beautiful nearby trails and it was the only about 25 minutes to Bar Harbor. We had a wonderful week and loved our visit!
Leslie and her partner’s property exceeded expectations. The home was exactly what we needed for our one-week stay to Maine, specifically to visit Acadia National Park and use our boat. LOCATION: The property is in a more quiet location, perfect for our enjoyment of calmer evenings, off the road and away from Bar Harbor crowds, yet still 30 minutes max from everything. There’s even a gas station a short distance away which came in clutch many times.PROPERTY: The home itself is beautiful, boasting a lovely garden with bird feeders, a table and fire pit, with the ocean nearby. The kitchen was stocked with what we needed and the bedroom, bathroom and TV areas were so cozy and accommodating. The check-in/out process was super easy and Leslie was ABOVE & BEYOND when we had any questions.HIGHLY RECOMMEND 12/10! Thank you!
The Garden Cottage was a great place to stay while we checked out Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The house was very comfortable and well supplied. Would recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage and greatly appreciated the communication and suggestions from Leslie! We did as much as possible in and around Acadia for this three days we were there. Everything was perfect, and we hope to come back again sometime.
We really loved staying at the cottage, which is comfortable, has all the kitchen items needed and more ( a plus as we cooked in a lot) and a great, beautiful location. As mentioned, this is the quiet side of the island, but it was perfect for us to get some quiet and be close to great hikes and a few restaurants and shops. Really lovely stay.
The property was great. The listing from vrbo was incorrect at verification, said property is in Georgia not Maine.
The owner is fantastic. Gave local recommendations amd was very helpful.
We loved our stay on the Quiet Side of mount desert island. Beautiful garden makes up for lack of direct lake views but access to hikes, carriage roads and coast is easy to get to.
The property was ideal for our needs. Wonderful location close to Bass Harbor Marsh where we put in our two person canoe and lovely hiking without the crowds. My wife loved the well appointed kitchen. All in all a lovely property.
Great property on the quiet side with a lovely patio garden. Easy drive into Southwest Harbor for shopping and restaurants. Upstairs living space with TV a plus.
The cottage was very cozy, comfortable and clean. Leslie communicated with us before we arrived and instructions were easy to follow. Although it was a bit of a drive to the national park there were stores and restaurants conveniently located near by. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Close to the water and we’ll equipped. Bed was comfortable and linens were new and fresh. Perfect for two people.
Property owner is responsive to communications. We had few questions and overall enjoyed our stay.
Perfect cozy cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens. Owner stocks everything you could need for comfort and convenience. Lots to do in area. Bar Harbor only about a 20 minute drive away. Great access to all Acadia Nat'l Park has to offer. Great restaurants close to home. Would highly recommend!!!
A perfect cottage for two. Cute private garden. Clean, cosy, fully stocked with everything we needed. (Even had a white noise machine for sleeping) Quiet side of Mt. Desert Island. Had a bit of miscommunication about checking in, but neighbors helped us find cottage.
My two friends and I loved our stay in Leslie's home. The house is a mile away from the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and about 30 minutes away from top Acadia locations like Jordan Pond and the Precipice Trail, as well as Bar Harbor.
The house was super clean and comfy, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the essentials we needed to cook for the 3 days we were there. Also enjoyed the patio at night to look at the stars! If we come back to Maine, we will definitely be staying here again.
My husband and I had a lovely stay at this great little cottage outside of Southwest Harbor back in October. It's in a great location and nice and roomy for two people. Communication with Leslie was exceptionally good. There was a glitch with the cleaning people, and she was fantastic at handling it. We would definitely go back.
Charming well-equipped cottage with beautiful garden on the “quiet side” of Mt. Desert Island. Leslie provided numerous useful tips for hikes and restaurants. We were grateful to be away from the crowds and yet conveniently located for exploring Acadia NP. She had very helpful books on hand to guide us around the park and island. We also enjoyed the games (especially cribbage) and the vast movie selection.
We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights in the Bass Harbor Cottage. It was perfect for two adults. The bedroom and sitting room were very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had all you would need to prepare meals and a nice eating area or there were even TV trays upstairs in the sitting room. We enjoyed relaxing each evening after dinner with a DVD from the great selection provided. Our host, Leslie, gave us wonderful tips on places to eat, shop, and things to do. The drive to Acadia's main loop was easy and beautiful. Passing through the little towns was fun. Although we may not have been in the center of the hustle and bustle, we could easily drive to BarHarbor of other spots. Absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyable Cottage Near Working Harbor
My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this cottage. It is perfect for two people looking for a home base to virtually anywhere on Mt. Desert Island. The kitchen was very well equipped with anything a traveler may need (the coffee filters were particularly appreciated). We found the patio to be quite lovely in the morning and a nice way to rest weary legs at the end of the day. A few items that are important to note for future visitors. First, the cottage is on Rt. 102, which means there is some car noise from 6:00 am until early evening. Rt. 102 has a limited shoulder and is not suitable for safe running/walking, in my opinion. Second, the bedroom faces east, making it rather bright in the morning even with a shade and blinds. The final point is not related to the cottage though worth noting. Bass Harbor is remotely located relative to the rest of the island. Southwest Harbor is less than 5 minutes away, but Bar Harbor can be as much as 45 minutes with traffic. Overall, a great place for a couple looking to get away from it all and take in the pleasures of the quiet side (be sure to go over to Seawall with a bottle of wine and some cheese, it's totally legal!).
The cottage is very comfortabel and the location is wonderful. A good bed for a good night sleep. Near the water, near nice restaurants and near enough to Arcadia national park and Bar Harbor. A great place to stay.

About the host
Hosted by Leslie Lamb
Acadia is our favorite place to be. When we purchased the property, it wasn't so pretty, and we have spent years doing construction and gardening. After much hard work it is a pretty and comfortable cottage. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
we purchased this property, as we knew it had potential for a great little cottage one house in from the water.
What makes this property unique
You will be on the "Quiet Side", away from the crowds in Bar Harbor, but still very near many hikes which are part of Acadia, but are located on our side of the island. We are also only 3 miles from Echo Lake.
