About this property
3- bedroom, 3-bath family retreat on beautiful Spider Lake
We love our family lakeside retreat! It has 100 ft of private lakefront access in a wooded setting with an expansive view of the popular sandbar island (we love to get across with a leisurely 1-minute kayak ride or a 5-minute swim). Our favorite room is our parents' suite ( king-size bed, rainhead shower, oh yeah!) but we make do with the owl room( full-size bed) or the cedarwood (queen-size). When our cousins come, they stay on the pull-out sofa beds in the living area (full-size) and the family room( queen-size). There are 3 full bathrooms, and towels and linens for all!
We love to wake up and lie on the couch taking in the glass lake covered in mist. Eventually we make pancakes in the small, fully equipped kitchen and woof then down smothered in syrup in the lakeside dining area which sits 6-10. For lunch we fire-up the adequate but small grill and chow down on the large deck and patio area overlooking lake.
Then off to the lake! My mom loves to yoga on the dock ( super embarrassing!) while we kayak or SUP or splash around looking for critters. My dad likes to hang in the finished basement with lakeside family room with cable tv/wifi, den with wood stove and full laundry area. It's an all-sports lake so boating, jet skiing, sailing, kayaking, fishing and more allowed - just keep it quiet between 7:30pm and 11am.
Some days we take the 15 minute ride to Traverse City for dinner, movie and a stroll along Lake Michigan. Two of us kids like to scooter ( have two with helmets) while everyone else strolls or bikes ( mom can tell you where she rents hers). But we often just stay in and play games, read, catch-up on favorite shows or make smores on the small fire pit.
We love PIZZA and have a great pizza place 5 minutes away ( that DELIVERS!). It is the best pizza anywhere! Luckily for us they have great salads too so mom doesn't mind as much.
We hope our home will provide you with the same solace, warmth and relaxation that it gives us year after year.

Why they chose this property
I have lived and traveled all over the world but find myself drawn to Traverse City year after year. I spent my summers in Traverse City as a child and remain as enthralled and drawn by its honest beauty, charm and good-naturedness as I was then. It is the place I come to center myself, to remind myself of what is important and to be more in nature. I love that my children are happy here - they fully live and explore and ask to come here season after season.
I love that our home is close to the town and attractions, yet in the woods, on the lake and in nature. Its position across from the sandbar island allow for great swimming and socializing with others on the lake if desired yet peace and quiet are also possible early in the morning and in the evenings.
