'Arena Kalyves beach' is the ideal lovely duplex apartment location. 30 minutes from Chania Airport. Where can you find beach front apartments and of this standard? - only here! Whether you want to unwind and relax on the beach or enjoy the traditional everyday living of being in a real Cretan Village, Kalyves is for you. A selection of good tavernas both fish and traditional lamb and pork dishes are available. The Cretans really are very friendly and welcoming. You are assured of a wonderful welcome. The historic Venitian City of Chania is merely a 20 min drive or bus drive away. It is a shopper’s paradise with markets, walkways and harbour. Further in land experience traditional Cretan Villages. There is so much to see in this area you will want to come back.

Beach appartment stay in Beautiful Crete
This is an appartment which is very well situated in a beautiful part of Crete. It is in the quieter end of Kalyves close enough to the sea to nip down for an early morning swim. It is opposite the supermarket and a few minutes walk from some very recommended tavernas. Beach with brollies are a few minutes away as is a bus stop taking you to Chania town. A balcony looks over the sea for morning and evening moments of loveliness. Would definitely return.

Lovely stay in Kalyves
The apartment is exactly as described on the website, the location is perfect with the beach just a few steps away, some lovely tavernas a couple of minutes away and then the centre of Kalyves with more tavernas and main beach about 10 minutes walk by the sea. The 2 bedrooms are both a decent size with plenty of storage space and are on the ground floor, the kitchen and living room on the first floor are really bright and airy with a nice balcony overlooking the sea. One thing on the bathrooms that would make it even better is to have a shower curtain or screen on the upstairs bathroom so there are then 2 usable showers rather than a shower and a bath. The information we received from Christine and John was excellent and email response was always really prompt. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property, we travelled as a couple with my mum and found everything to be spot on.

Great stay!
Great stay for us 4 pensioners! Beach, supermarket and restaurants all very close by. If you renta car as we did, the location is central for most turist attractions on the island. Good contact with managers Mark and June. John

Perfect apartment perfect holiday
Third stay at this great modern apartment. Location is great and with all equipment you would need for self catering. We ate out a lot because there are great very reasonable priced tavernas near by. Sun Loungers are provided for the lovely private beach outside the small apartment complex. The main (busier) beach of Kalives is an easy 10minute walk away. Loved our stay here. Fully recommend.

Perfect - Magnificent sea view, clean and bright
The apartment was very comfortable and modern. Perfect for a relaxing holiday and has its own sandy beach. Local restaurants close by and supermarket opposite. We hired a car with Christine’s recommendation as we wanted to explore the area a little but really you could easily spend your time in the village and the other local beaches which are all within walking distance. I would definitely recommend the apartment and this location. It is perfect.

Amazing stay! Great location!
We had a great holiday. The apartment is modern and well equipped. So convenient for the beach, 2 mins away. Even sun beds are provided. All amenities are within walking distance, supermarket opposite the apartment, and a variety of other shops, mini markets, cash machines, bakery, etc in the centre of the Village. Excellent selection of tavernas , all serving excellent Greek cuisine. We will return !! Actually now booking for 2019 !

Well located within walking distance of Kalives village. Great to have direct access to a lovely beach. Appartment is light and spacious and we very much enjoyed our stay in this interesting part of Crete.

We liked the location; the little town of Kalyves; we liked Crete very much ! the appartement need some maintenance; shower downstair (tap) ; shower upstair no curtain; the kitchen tap (splash everwhere) the cleanliness in general was so so. No climatisation upstair .

Apartment in a wonderful setting . Great for exploring the surrounding areas .Kalyves itself lovely
The property is a good size and has pretty much everything you need . For four adults to stay there in more comfort it would benefit from another comfortable chair in the lounge. The bedding really needs upgrading. The pillows in particular need changing some are like bags of cotton wool. The smaller bedroom has a very hard mattress . The tap controls are difficult to get the water temperature just right . Saying all that we had a great holiday . The setting is great . Great parking and very handy that the supermarket is just across the road . It’s a lovely walk into Kalyves along the sea front . We had hired a car and we were out all over the top of the island. We had a great meal In Kissamos and we loved Rethymno. We absolutely loved Stavros and visited there twice . The secluded bay lovely and just round the bay a bit a fabulous French/Greek / Arabic beach taverna run by a lovely French lady . The owners of the apartment were very helpful . So overall we had a great stay and will visit again one day .

Lovely relaxing holiday
The house’s location is really convenient for the main village which is about a 10 minute walk. There is a supermarket directly opposite the house, which is very welcome when you need basic supplies. The house is well laid out to take advantage of the sea views. The bedrooms are on the ground floor with 2 balconies off the main one, which we only used for laundry as there was another lovely balcony off the living area on the top floor. The house is very well equipped, clean and modern. We didn't hire a car as we prefer to walk from our accommodation or use local transport which we found very easy. The bus stop to Chania is right next to the house. The beach is literally 1 minute’s walk away. The area is beautiful, we really enjoyed our walks which take in stunning views and lovely beaches. The local restaurants offer really good food and friendly service. The only thought we had was that in high season the upstairs balcony would overlook other houses balconies but as we were there at the end of the season we didn’t have any near neighbours. Christina was very friendly and accommodating and any arrangements were very efficiently dealt with.

A most refreshing and relaxing stay at Christina's place.
From the time we booked the apartment, Christina kept us informed and was always available to provide information and answer our questions. Apartment is stylish, modern and well set up. Scores highly on location, amenities and cleanliness. Has all the stuff you need for the beech (except obviously towels). We could not work out the television and wifi did not cover downstairs area; neither of this bothered us. Lots of cafes around, you are on the beech and can go for a stroll or run whenever you want. Only a short walk from village centre which we liked. Shop across the road and coach stop very close by.

Perfect holiday in lovely accommodation great location
Everything you need for a perfect holiday. Kalyves such a charming place very genuine all restaurants we visited excellent. Town house had everything we needed. Only downside beach by villa has big rocks in sea that you can't always see. Town beach better to swim but busier. Bus great managed to go to Chania, Samaria, Elafonisi and Rethmnon all amazing day trips. Hope to visit again!

Our stay at Christine's appartment in Kalyves
We really enjoyed our stay in Kalyves. We - three children, aged 5,9 and 11 did not even have to put on shoes to go to the nearest beach, there were beach toys available in the flat and a beautiful balcony were we could sit and watch the boats and the lights after sunset. The appartment was very clean, the kitchen was well supplied and the information we received from Christine in advance was very useful. Nice tavernas and a generally relaxed atmosphere in the village also contributed to a great holiday.

Modern and fully equiped apartment.
Modern and fully equipped apartment, near to the beach and a short stroll to the nearby village. We´re very satisfied with our stay and the apartment really fulfilled our needs. We hired a car for the duration of our trip to allow us to see more of Crete but actually it was necessary if one whant´s to explore the island. However that's exactly what we sought and so for us it was perfect. Can really recommend to rent the apartment if one want´s to escape from the more busy "tourist areas".

A lovely apartment in a perfect location
We have just returned from a two week holiday in this lovely apartment. Not only is it well appointed and comfortable, it is well situated with the beach at the rear of the property and a large supermarket across the road. There are plenty of good tavernas within easy walking distance, the nearest being less than a minute away. Kalyves is a lovely village with plenty going on without being too touristy. We particularly liked the various circular walks which all start in the village centre. We would not hesitate to recommend Sands apartment.

Modern, comfortable condo on the beach.
We loved the location, views, and amenities at this condo. The unit is quite modern and spacious. Kalyves is a charming town and the people were very welcoming. We had some wonderful, inexpensive meals with great service, and enjoyed walking through the town and on the beach. It was nice to stay close to, but not in Hania, and we loved our visit to that city. Christine was very responsive and provided much information to make our stay more enjoyable.

Sunny days
Lovely clean apartment only a few metres from a beautiful sandy beach. The apartment is modern and very well equipped. There is a property manager locally, who was very helpful, providing us with an extra walking guide. We managed to visit a different taverna almost every night; there is lots of choice, even though Kalyves is a fairly quiet location.

Our party consisted of two adults and 4 kids ages 8-16. The apartment was perfect for us. It was clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the many balconies made for easy access to the outside. It was located right on a very nice beach and to a grocery store so there was no need to drive anywhere. If the family visits Crete again, I would not hesitate to book this location again. It suited us perfectly.

Amazing Place
On arrival we found the apartment to be exceptionally clean, the advert does not do the place justice. We were a group of four adults and had plenty of space to move round every where. The beach is veryclean and quiet. There were loungers in the apartment to take down To the beach which was great. A fantastic Super Market is right across the road. We walked down into the town every night which took about 15 minutes where you could find numerous restaurants and bars. The local bus. Stops just a few feet from the apartment.. There is nothing more you could want from an apartment for your holiday, I will certainly have no hesitation in staying here again.

We had visited many other European Countries but never felt as comfortable and at ease as in this part of Western Crete. We had been looking for somewhere to buy and to share with our friends and extended family so when the opportunity arose we had no hesitation. We want our visitors to share the enjoyment we have experienced in this part of Crete and will endeavour to give you as much information as possible to ensure you a wonderful holiday.

Why they chose this property

Regarding Crete, I fell in love with the island the first time I came to visit and this triggered our desire to buy a property there. I am myself Italian and French and Crete reminded me of both Cote d'Azur and Toscana before these places were spoiled to some extent by overbuilding and mass tourism. Western Crete is considered the most traditional part of Crete. We are at easy reach from the wonderful old Venetian town of Chania (La Canea) as well as Rethymno with its Turkish legacy. Our apartment is modern and well equipped and YES right on the beach with direct access to the beach through the 16 apartment complex. Taverna 2 minutes away, Supermarket opposite. Location, location, location !

What makes this property unique

The apartment benefits from a sea view and an access from the communal area direct to the beach. This means no road to cross to get your feet into the sand and you will almost feel like you are in a private beach with golden and fine sand. You will enjoy having your meal on the balcony with view on the sea unless you prefer to indulge yourself in one of the many local taverns within walking distance. Indeed you don’t need a car to stay in our apartment since all the amenities are within easy reach and yet the property is still remote enough from the core of Kalyves to ensure a peaceful stay. The bus stop to Chania, Rethymno and Heraklion is near by. Chania is just at 20 minutes and should you want to have a night out in its old buoyant Venetian harbour, a taxi is easily organised. If you wish to hire a car and venture to other parts of Crete we can organise this for you too.
