Perfect cottage

The Floss is the perfect base for a week in Windermere. Ron and Val are wonderful hosts and have provided everything you could possibly need. Terrific location, spotless, all the amenities!

Roses and greenery

The many gardens on the property were exquisitely cared for and so beautiful. The home owners were kind and friendly without being intrusive. The cottage was a delight to stay in and the cupcakes were also a delight to the eyes! I highly recommend this lovely place!!

We loved it here

Fantastic location. Stunning garden. Very comfortable cottage. Clean. Ron gave excellent walking directions from the train station. The cupcakes were delicious.

We spent one week in this beautiful cottage and couldn't have wished for a better accommodation for our vacation! The cottage is wonderfully located in the heart of Windermere, making it an ideal starting point for day trips! The cottage is lovingly furnished and up to date! We are very grateful for the great time we were able to spend in Windermere and would book the accommodation again at any time! Many thanks also to our hosts for the warm welcome and hospitality!

Delightful Floss Cottage

We both enjoyed our time at Floss Cottage which was comfortable, spotless and well appointed. We loved the cup cakes Valerie baked for us and both her and husband Ron were very friendly and lovely to talk to. We highly recommend Floss Cottage as a place to stay.

Couldn't ask for more

My husband and I had the most amazing break at this beautiful cottage. It is small, but perfect for two, and set in Ron and Val's gorgeous garden. We really couldn't have asked for more, the cottage was clean and very well equipped, the bed was comfortable and Ron and Val are very welcoming. It is positioned perfectly for exploring the whole of the Lake District - we were lucky to have sunshine throughout our stay and loved every moment. Thank you Val, Ron and Michael for your hospitality!

Beautiful cottage in stunning gardens

The Floss really is a perfect little getaway. Beautifully clean, very comfortable with the added bonus of a stunning garden to sit and enjoy after a long days walking. The welcome cakes were an unexpected treat and absolutely scrummy. Perfectly located so that you can explore both Bowness and Windermere, along with some very nice restaurants, and also great links to public transport if required. And of course plenty of great walks on the doorstep to keep you busy.

Perfect for short or long stay

Astounding details in this freestanding cottage behind the main house. Lots of clever touches. Full kitchen with all appliances, excellent shower/bath. Proprietors are next door and couldn't be nicer. Great location only a 5-min walk to town. Parking available out front. Very highly recommended!

The Floss Cottage

Our second stay and it was as great as the first time. This time we did not take the car. Clean and efficient taxis from and to the railway station special thanks to Lakeside taxis.We used the buses a lot - what great drivers dealing with narrow roads, animals etc. we climbed Helvellyn which was my husband’s challenge. We would recommend Rydal cave from toddlers onwards we had a great stay. Thanks to our golden hosts and Vrbo.

A Little Gem in a Beautiful Setting

Fantastic property very well equipped very high standard a lot of thought gone into design and décor amazing how spacious a feel it had. If visiting the lakes again I would head straight to this little haven set in the most beautiful gardens. A very warm welcome from Ron& Val tray set out for tea with cakes...what's not to love

Amazing

An amazing find, a beautiful little cottage in spectacular garden of a beautiful house. With Ron and Val being gracious hosts we loved our stay here. The place was cozy, well thought out and immaculate in its decorative styling and features. We loved it here and is a great find if you need access to the lakes. We are paddle boarders and as a base it was perfect, also a few minutes walk into the centre of Windermere was ideal. We will definitely be back and already recommended it to loads of people wanting a place to stay in the lakes.

Great place; perfect for us.

The house is gorgeous and the garden is absolutely stunning! We mostly do day hikes, and it’s just the perfect spot for it. The cottage has three levels. You enter from the beautiful garden into the living room. From there, you can go down four stairs to the kitchen and bathroom, or up eight stairs to the bedroom. It’s beautifully decorated and has everything you need for your stay. Three groceries are within a five-to-ten-minute walk. The owners are super friendly and will answer any questions you might have.
