About the host
Hosted by Diane Raw
My parents came to farm at Gunnerside in 1965. They decided to diversify in 1990 and converted one of our barns into a self contained holiday cottage. East Roof as it was named became a home from home from then on. Many of our guests still return today bringing with them their children and grandchildren. When my parents retired, my husband, two daughters and I took over the running of East Roof. We live near Richmond and return each week to clean and maintain the cottage. I love to come back to East Roof and the area where I grew up, the view across the dale never changes apart from the effect the seasons have upon it.
Why they chose this property
The property has been in my family for over 50 years.
What makes this property unique
The best part of the cottage is its peaceful location, with stunning views from every window and walks from the door step. With the popular village of Gunnerside only a five minutes walk away with its café and pub both serving good food.
