About this property
A sudeley castle cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
This apartment cottage is named in memory of King George III, who came to visit Sudeley Castle & Gardens on several occasions in the late 18th Century. Converted from the old forge on the Sudeley Estate, George III is ideally situated for exploring this the greatest gems of The Cotswolds. Walking routes run from the door, with the picturesque town of Winchcombe only a short distance away as well as the delights of Sudeley Castle. This apartment cottage has open walls of Cotswold stone, sloped ceilings and original beams and views across the shared lawned garden to the treeline beyond.
This spacious, dog-friendly cottage has a large open plan living area across the ground floor. There is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy your own hobbies but also to gather for a meal or around the TV together. Upstairs two double bedrooms nestle beneath the eaves with a family shower room.
The terrace offers a private seating area, and the shared lawn is perfect for dogs and the children. Enjoy the tranquillity of this stunning location, venturing further afield to the towns and villages of the Cotswolds as well as Sudeley Castle and the pubs and restaurants of Winchcombe on your doorstep.
Ground Floor Living/Dining/Kitchen Area: A bright, well-lit open plan area, makes up the downstairs floor of George III. The sitting area has two comfortable sofas and an armchair. The fully-equipped kitchen overlooks the main courtyard and has a country-cottage feel, with fresh off-white coloured cabinets and wooden work surfaces. The kitchen has everything you will need for your stay including an oven/hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer toaster, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine. A dedicated dining area has a round table seating four.
First Floor The staircase to the first floor splits in two with one side accessing bedroom one, and the second taking you to bedroom two and the family bathroom. You will pass an image of George III and it's worth pausing to admire the old construction methods on show in the beams.
Bedroom One: This is the largest bedroom and is furnished with an oak frame standard double bed, bedside tables and individual overbed lights with reading and room lighting. This bedroom has a handy dressing area with a chest of drawers and a hanging cupboard - also the perfect place to set up a little one’s travel cot.
Bedroom Two: The Old Forge’s impressive, but low, original oak beams are the centrepiece in bedroom two. Furnished with an oak frame standard double bed, bedside tables and individual overbed lights with reading and room lighting and a full-length mirror.
Family Shower Room: Adjacent to bedroom two is the family shower room, with a large walk-in shower (with a fixed over-head rain shower and detachable handheld shower head) toilet, sink and heated towel rail.
Outside Guests of George III share a lovely wooden decking area that looks out over a communal garden lawn and a footpath that leads to Sudeley Castle. Each apartment has its own seating area with table and chairs for 4 guests.

Great stay in a lovely cottage
The cottage was perfect for our 5days stay with two kids. The house had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. We would recommend it as a great place to stay in the Cotswolds.

Apart from some niggles a pleasant stay.
Everything was as described. However the bedroom spotlights did not work in one of the rooms and there were cobwebs around outside lights and outside structures. Also one of the spotlights was not working in the kitchen, something that should have been noticed.Other than those few niggles we had a lovely stay.

Great stay
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Very clean, lovely kitchen and great location.
Only two constructive complaints:
The beds are really too small and the outside space was very dirty with planters full of leaves. It would have been beautiful with some flowers and a clean outside patio.

A great place to stay
The location of the house was perfect as a base for seeing the best of the Cotswolds. We really enjoyed our visit to the castle and our trips out to all of the "big ticket" Cotswold attractions. The house was perfect for our stay and everything was just right. Definitely somewhere we would look to stay next time we visit the area.

Great stay in a historic location
It was lovely staying in a historic converted cottage with great facilities. A great bonus was free entry to Sudeley Castle. We had the added bonus of decking so we were able to eat outside when weather permitted.

Wonderful time.
We really enjoyed our stay at George III cottage. It had all the conveniences one would require for a longer stay. The bedrooms could get warm, but opening the windows allowed enough air flow to sleep comfortably. Would definitely consider staying again in any future visit to the area.

Excellent little bolt hole
Very quiet and peaceful location. We had the dog so having the Public Footpath alongside was excellent with the Castle fields.
Winchcombe ideal for various Cotswold villages. Cottage was well appointed and comfortable.

George 111 at Sudeley Castle
The Cottage was a bit tired and in need of a deep clean and decorating, apart from the kitchen which was nice and well equipped. Good welcome starter packs.

Charming cottage with direct access to all the best that the Cotswolds has to offer.
Delightful, well-appointed, sparklingly clean cottage in a lovely quiet location just a few minutes walk from the shops and pubs. Leave your car in the dedicated car park and forget about it for a few days as there are plenty of fantastic walks, long and short, directly from the doorstep. I highly recommend a stay here.

Lovely cottage
This is our second stay at George III and it is always a pleasure. We attend an event at the castle so location is great, just a few minutes walk, and the same into the village. The cottage is very clean and well appointed for our long weekend. The welcome pack always great after long drive. Access and parking are very convenient. There is a lack of hanging space in bedrooms due to the eves, but this is really not an issue for long weekend.

Lovely cottage
We were attending an event at Sudeley castle , the cottage is really convenient to walk to both the castle and the town. It was very clean with all we needed for it long weekend. And the inside and outside seating great for chilling out after a long day. Have booked again for the same event next year.

Lovely stay
We had a lovely stay, as usual in this charming accommodation. Its our 4th time staying here. We did find this year, that the property needed a little attention. Flaking paint on exterior and there were cobwebs everywhere. One of the rooms had mould on the ceiling. Nothing that a little love won't fix, just noticed it wasn't so perfect this year. Did not spoil our stay, and we would be happy to return again next year.

We had a lovely short stay here as a family of 4 with our dog too. Plenty of space indoors with everything we needed to feel at home and enjoyed having a coffee or two overlooking the small garden and fields. Lots to do right on the doorstep from country walks, exploring the town and visiting Sudeley castle which is a 5 minute walk across the field. Can’t wait to come and stay again.

Our stay at Sudeley
Really enjoyed our three nights at George III. Lovely location, although We were pleased we were not any nearer to the building work going on, which must have been quite noisy for some of the other cottages.
Our cottage was very well equipped for anything we needed, and being able to visit the Castle and gardens for free was a real bonus

Location of the cottage and access to a number of other Cotswolds town is perfect.
Have been staying at this particular cottage for a number of years with no issues, unfortunately on this particular occasion the response of the Sudley Castle customer service was not acceptable.

Liked: Location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Location perfect however…….!
The positives of the stay was that the location of the cottage is perfect, as somebody that lived in Winchcombe for 15 years, it is perfectly situated to see the best of winchcombe and the surrounding area. However the accommodation itself is extremely tired, it is in my view extremely expensive for what you get. It needs a lick of paint and refurbishing (particularly the bathroom) to do the location justice

Another pleasant stay
This was our third stay at Winchcombe and as before it was comfortable and relaxing in pleasant surroundings. The cottage is very well equipped plus a welcome tray and toiletries . Plenty of towels and tea towels provided. Conveniently sited for easy walk into Winchcombe which has a good choice of places to eat. We will definitely stay again.
Although still comfortable the cottage does look a bit tired with chipped paintwork and a shower cubicle that needs a bit of TLC.
A good ‘spring clean’ would go a long way to rectify this.
