Loved the location and found great place to eat in Bath. The drive to Freeport was easy. Visited Camden and Bar Harbor which was a bit far.
The facilities and the privacy was almost perfect. Just a couple tiny glitches. But nothing to really note.

Jan, Thanks so much for your great review and so glad you enjoyed the cottage and exploring the midcoast / Casco Bay region. There’s a lot more to see, so please come back and see us again! — Jim
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay at Lilac Cottage. The cottage was very clean, the owners gave us their contact info and were open to being available to us if needed, the WiFi was strong, and the location is fantastic. We got to watch deer and turkeys every day right on the front lawn. We were close to town and the beach but felt like we were secluded. It’s a great private location that allows for true rest and relaxation. I highly recommend staying here.

It’s a perfect place to reset and remember the simplicity of life. The porch is incredible and my dog loved it as much as I did. Owners were extremely gracious and had water, milk, coffee and tea.. even orange juice stocked in the fridge.
This is cottage is wonderful.

It’s such a fantastic, sweet place. It’s simplicity allowed us to slow down. I haven’t rocked so much on a porch all my life- this place is a 5 star if you want that perfect cottage to slow down and reset. Thank you.

The Lilac Cottage was a wonderful home base for my wife, dog and I. James made everything really easy and the cottage had everything we needed for our stay. The porch in and of itself makes this place worth it, the surroundings are peaceful and you're so close to the mid-coast destinations you want to explore. We would highly recommend it and we'd love to return someday. Thanks again James!

Bryan, Thank you so much for staying at Lilac Cottage, we're so glad that you enjoyed it! -- Jim Davis
It was just what the doctor ordered, a month in a quiet (except for street traffic which we could not see, but could hear), wooded, seemingly remote location, that was very private. Lilac cottage is so sweet, a quintessential Maine cottage with good WiFi, 10 minutes from the great town of Bath and lots of parks and beaches. Mark was the perfect host and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. You truly feel alone, yet connected. What a place! It’s stocked with lots of water. They even stocked orange juice, and milk. The cookware is exceptional and everything you need is right in the cottage. We’ll be recommending to our friends for sure!

Pamela, Thanks for the excellent review and recommendation and for being a returning guest. We hope to see you back soon with your dogs to enjoy a slice of Maine! Best wishes, Jim and Mark
Just far enough off the road, great for dogs to play outside and not have to worry about them, the grass was nicely mowed all around, a nice woods walk . Inside the king bed was very comfortable would have liked some draws to put clothes in bedroom. Small smart TV , so remember to bring your Netflix, Hulu, Prime passwords with you. Kitchen was good the owner had left coffee, tea, OJ , milks of all varieties , and tons of bottled water . Deck had nice rocking chairs to sit outside, remember to bring bug spray or get citronella candle. It was very centrally located to Bath and lots of local drives as there were many informational brochures, that were there from the information center in Bath . Take a drive down Arrowsic to Five island lobster, great view and drive also visit Reid state park you will need bug spray. Then to Harpswell drive to Lands End but also walk Giants Stairs and eat at the Dauphin Restaurant beautiful views and the owners check on every table. A nice brewery was Fight Deck brewery Brunswick 15 mins from cabin and Wild Oats Bakery and cafe scratch bakery across the parking area.We will be back as cabin a great price and good location.

Janet, We’re so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us! Great tips for future guests! (Thanks for mentioning the new King mattress and Internet service! Will work on your suggestion for bedroom clothes storage) . We’re delighted that you and your digs are planning to return.. Safe travels! Jim & Mark
We rented this cabin because of it’s great reviews, the photos of the property, and mainly it’s location (close to Portland, the ocean, state parks etc).
It’s a very clean and well kept property. The online photos really don’t do it justice. Very private and secluded yet close to town if you need to run quick for supplies.
Though we really didn’t need to contact Mark that much, the time or two we did, he was quick to respond a very helpful.
If we do return to Maine for another vacation (and if my wife has her way we will) we would definitely rent this property again.
Thank you Mark for allowing us to enjoy this cabin.

Russell, We're delighted to hear that you had a great stay with us - it's so gratifying to hear that you liked the convenient yet secluded location and the clean cabin. Also it's great that you were able come here in October and enjoy our wonderful fall weather! Come back again!
It was a quintessential Maine experience, just what we needed, quiet, dark secluded, with ocean breezes. The cottage was just big enough. Close to many beautiful beaches (but the ones that would accept dogs were limited to one).. Will look forward to returning next year if available. Be sure to bring your insect repellant, the mosquitos are abundant.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience! James and Mark were both very professional, friendly, and responsive. The cabin was clean, and everything worked. The property was perfect for me because it was a short drive to great Maine towns, coastal beaches and some amazing hiking AND there we no neighbors anywhere close by — so my dog, Fern, was able to really stretch her legs on the property. I very much look forward to returning!
Enjoyed our stay at Lilac Cottage immensely. Would return in an instant. A classic, clean as a whistle, Maine cottage on a hill in the midst of spruce and pine. A totally private, quiet setting yet minutes from Bath, Reid State Park, Five Islands Lobster Co. -- what more could one ask. Two wicker rocking chairs on a lovely porch. Well equipped. Reasonably priced. Good WiFi. Good heat. The owner and property manager were extraordinarily solicitous, accessible, friendly. We will be back to Lilac!
It was a wonderful stay in the cabin in the woods. The owner and manager went out of their way to make it a great time. They were patient and very informative with all our questions about the area. The cabin was very quiet and our dog loved it as well. Highly recommend.

The cottage was very welcoming, clean, quiet and well maintained. The setting provides both privacy and close proximity to attractions and shopping needs. Maine is very beautiful and the cottage provides a good home base for exploration of the area. The owner was very responsive to all communication.

Lilac Cottage
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was very clean and I always over pack but so much was provided even OJ,milk and water and everything you needed for a stay more like a hotel then a rental. Charming grounds which I bet are more beautiful in the fall. we have been to Maine quite a few times and always enjoy going to all the Pretty harbor towns. Thank You so much for sharing your cottage.

Perfect place to re energize!
I picked this cabin, because of it's proximity to all the places I wanted to take day trips to. I had no idea what the area was like and boy was I surprised! The cabin is just a few minutes from Bath which may just be my new favorite place in Maine (okay I still love Acadia National Park)!
When we arrived everything was ready for us, there was even coffee, tea and OJ in the fridge, what a wonderful way to welcome guests.
The Cabin is just perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all. It has everything you need, but our favorite part has to be the front porch. Whether you are coming home from site seeing or a day of hiking, the porch is a great place to unwind and have a cocktail, beer or a cup of coffee in the morning.
In Bath there are plenty of good restaurant for breakfast and dinner, along with plenty of cute one of a kind shops. You are also a days trip away from Boothbay Harbor to the North, Freeport, Old Orchard Beach, Portland and Kennebunkport to the south. All are worth a trip, but if you go to Freeport you must stop in When Pigs Fly Breads! They have about 2 dozen or more fresh baked breads that are to die for. Also try their garlic oil for dipping!
All in all I couldn't be happier with my choice of renting the cabin. It was everything I expected and more.

A relaxing week in a great cabin!!
My wife and I enjoyed a great week at this secluded cabin. It was hidden away enough that we could enjoy watching the wild turkeys walk through the yard from the porch but close enough to major restaurants and other areas of interest. A comfortable and relaxing cabin with everything provided that was stated. When we arrived the Weber Grill was ready to go with two bags of charcoal.

Review of cabin in Maine
My stay at the what I call the cabin in the woods was very enjoyable. The cabin is very comfortable and has every thing you need for an extended vacation. The location is great near Bath Maine and close to other locations in the area. On many occasions you can see deer and other animals going through the property.
