The owner was very nice and helpful when we needed something. Very clean and comfortable!!! Loved staying here and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Great value for secluded peaceful retreat! Close to great sightseeing and recreational activities. We weren't looking for restaurants did our own cooking and packed lunches for our daytime activities. Did lot of picnics and hikes in the area.
The cabin was exactly as advertised. Well stocked with the essentials, comfortable beds/furniture, great remote location so very quiet, and close to hiking and lake activities. The hosts provided some great info about the area and were available as needed. Overall enjoyed the stay!
We arrived later than intended because of the snow! The owners were so accommodating throughout the entire stay. Our family absolutely loved our winter get away.

Nice cabin. Very clean and well kept. Owners were very helpful and guided us over there. It's kind of Isolated but that was exactly what my Husband and I needed for a couple days. We will definitely go back again.!!!
LOVED the seclusion. So clean. Just an adorable cabin. Everything we needed. The manager is super sweet. Would definitely stay here again if passing thru this way.
Unbeatable price with everything you need in beautiful furnished cozy warm house! Very helpful host and owner. Definitely was a hit! Thank you Gregg and Karen!
The owners feel like a friend of a friend! They made the check in and check out process so easy! They are so very kind and make it known that if you need anything at all to ask. I would stay here again 😊
We love the cabin, the property, the area - all of it. The fire is a wonderful edition and the home is perfectly situated in a secluded wooded area with a large front porch to dine or have coffee. The house is very clean and loaded with just the items you forget to bring (it feels like anyway). It's definitely a home away from home.
We enjoyed absolutely EVERYTHING about this cabin and our stay. Clean, quiet, perfect hosts, beautiful area. What more could you ask for. We will always look to stay here when vacationing or in need of a getaway. You will not be disappointed.😊
It is so peaceful there and it’s secluded and it honestly brought me and my significant other closer to one another and plus the host was so nice and we definitely loved staying there and definitely would stay there again
This was our third time staying at this house and our fifth time renting from Greg & Karen. We cannot not say enough wonderful things about them. Every trip has been relaxing and the houses have all been well equipped. We have been searching for a house for the past five years and finally found our retirement home on this trip.
It was nice to stay here. Upon arrival the hosts greeted us and gave us the information we needed to know about the property. The cabin was clean and well appointed, and everything was in good working order. Very secluded & quiet location with a cool old logging trail nearby for a nice evening hike. If we are in the area again we would not hesitate to stay here.
Very clean, all necessities were there. When I called with a question someone always answered. Very happy with cabin. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.
We had a wonderful and amazing stay at The Forest Retreat. Thank you guys for the dedication of putting your guest first and going the extra mile to ensure their comfort and happiness. My brothers and I were definitely impressed with the condition, cleanliness and attention to details you put forth to make our stay great.
The cabin was exactly what we wanted. Quiet and secluded. It was very clean. It even had a Keurig and creamer and sugar were in the frig. If we need a place to lay our heads when in the area, we’ll definitely stay here.
We have stayed here on several occasions. NEVER a disappointment. ALWAYS an excellent stay. The hospitality and kindness of the hosts Greg and Karen goes beyond words. I rented these nights for my hubby to take a nice “break” from staying in our camper down the road. I sure wish we had their lovely cabin on our property!
This place was fantastic from our first meeting with the host to the time we left. It was way above our expectations. Before we even left I was sending the information to others so they could stay at this home. We WILL be back! This place was wonderful i cannot think of anything i would change.
Our stay was wonderful! The host was welcoming and responded to questions quickly. The location was secluded and quiet- about a 15 minute drive from Watauga lake. The house was clean and comfortable. The host provided many extras like firewood for the fire pit, kitchen staples, bug spray, etc.! This was my first time at a Vrbo listing and it exceeded my expectations! It had a cabin-y feel but with luxuries like central A/C and a smart TV. Would definitely recommend to others!
