Peaceful Getaway in May
Been visiting Townsend for decades, mostly camping, but this cozy cabin was better suited for a weekend getaway with my 85-year old Momma. She loved listening to the Little River while rocking on the back porch and watching her Braves beat the Cubs on the "huge" TV. She was disappointed that we couldn't use the fireplace in the cool evenings--the knob was missing, and we didn't bring a set of pliers to turn the stem, haha. Kitchen is adequate supplied for light cooking, and there are nearby options for eating out, whether burgers, country soul food, or steak/seafood. Although it will sleep four, this cabin is better suited for two people due to lack of space for luggage (we pulled over two kitchen table chairs to set our luggage). Both the bunk and the queen bed were comfortable. Other guests have mentioned the small shower, but we had no problem with it, as neither of us are large people. Overall, this is a great cabin and, hopefully, Townsend will remain the "peaceful side of the Smokies," so we can keep coming back.
