While we enjoyed staying on the "quiet" side of Acadia, there were several limitations to this property worth noting. First, it is an extremely old house with no air conditioning, which isn't unusual for Maine, but the windows were rotting and the window panes and screens did not fit properly, letting bugs in through the gaps. Not all the windows had screens, and there were no fans at all, so we were very warm a few nights. There were no blackout shades in the main bedroom. We were woken up at 7:15 AM by leaf blowing on the golf course, and the house is right on the road, so expect road noise as well. Also, the kitchen is limited in that there is no dishwasher, microwave, or toaster, and not have a lot of supplies for cooking on your own (ie no hot pads or larger cook pots). The decorations are very nice and we still enjoyed our stay, but we did not feel that it was worth the high nightly price paid.
