If you are looking for a romantic get-away or a relaxing spa like retreat, yet still being close to the bustle of the beach, this is it! Our spot creates relaxed romance from dawn to dusk where entertaining is easy, comfort reigns supreme and natural beauty is the essence of style. Our location in Arroyo Grande puts you within 2 minutes of the Cypress Ridge Golf Course, 5 minutes to wineries and the historic Village of Arroyo Grande, and 7-10 minutes to Pismo and Avila Beaches. The Central Coast rivals the Napa Valley featuring more than 200 wineries and vineyards in the region. On almost any given weekend one can find activities such as wine tastings and festivals, biking events, and faires of all types.

This cozy bungalow is ideal for a romantic rendezvous, a small family retreat, corporate executive retreats, and for those wine enthusiasts, nature lovers, bicyclists and golfers.

We are a working boutique farm with an organic garden, a small pond, a flock of chickens known as 'The Zen Hen Hut' birds, bunnies, mini pigs, goats and ducks. This charming family owned bungalow, is a single level cottage that a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, a special eat-in kitchen, and a fantastic lanai that offers a feel of indoor and outdoor space all in one! The Cottage/Duplex is situated on 5 acres with generous room to relax and enjoy!

The bedroom features a king bed with luxurious bedding including 500 thread count sheets, chenille blanket and oh so comfy pillows. It also has a cozy sitting area for reading or watching TV on the flatscreen. The living room also has a flatscreen TV. The bathroom includes an oversized dual head shower with teak floors and bench with room for guests to lounge in serenity!

The kitchen and dining area is open with an eat-in bar. Relax and conversate in the living area that offers a flat screen TV.. The cottage includes all linens, blankets, deluxe coffee maker, cooking and utensils, and beach towels. We can accommodate from 1-2.

Your stay includes fresh eggs from our small flock of chickens on the property, lovingly known as 'The Zen Hen Hut' , as well as berries and other goodies from the onsite pesticide-free garden. As our guests, you are pampered and treated with the utmost care to ensure your comfort and enjoyment

Great visit for month of August. If you stay try the smoker barbeque, Jeff will furnish the red oak. A screen door at the enterence would be a good addition to let more light into the living room. Dining is most comfortable using supplied TV tables. I spent a lot of time in the lanai. The chaise there could be updated.

“Zen” is appropriate name for this “cute” small animal farm

Peri and Jeff are great hosts. I enjoyed staying in the cottage at the property . Enjoyed watching the owls in the large oak trees and hearing the chirping of different birds. Nice to be able to walk my puppy (a miniature poodle) down the pavement road to visit the farm animals. Over all …I had a very pleasant stay.

Cute cottage in country setting..

The cottage is very nice with tons of storage space in bathroom cabinets. Large bathroom, full kitchen, and separate living and sleeping spaces. Peri and Jeff were very friendly and helpful during our month's stay. Only downside for extended stays, there are no clothes washer and dryer. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderfully relaxing

This was a last minute decision to have a few days relaxation and escape the heat of the Central Valley. Loved the peaceful nature of this property, looking over farmland and waking to birdsong. The decor of the accommodation was wonderfully eclectic, note the very pretty chandelier in the kitchen. The bathroom was amazingly roomy with a double shower. The property is within a very short drive of the beach and all the interesting coastal towns. What really made this a very pleasant stay though was the owners who also reside on the property. They were extremely friendly and helpful whilst thoroughly respecting our privacy. All in all a great mini break.

Unexpected quiet hideaway in California

Peri and Jeff are the best hosts, very accommodating and helpful. We enjoyed the great weather, especially the balmy nights. The comfy bed was often hard to leave! The well-cared for animals were fun to visit; they all loved carrots. The 3 sided enclosed patio was great for meals and reading. Jack, our silky terrier was especially fond of rolling around on the large sisal rug. He and Hannah, our poodley dog, enjoyed the property immensely. This is a safe place for dogs and a handy place to walk them. The 5 acres provides privacy and room to roam, and is close to shopping and interesting little places to eat. Lovely shower and handy washer and dryer.

The perfect cottage getaway for a month.

How wonderful to have a space to escape to when Arroyo Grande and Pismo Beach got so crowded over the Thanksgiving holiday. I had room to move around in that was homey and welcoming. The space also accommodated a friend who came to stay with me for four nights. And I had a great way to see my family, who live in Arroyo Grande, and not have to intrude on their home for a month. Peri and Jeff are wonderfully generous people. I always felt that I could go to them with any questions or concerns. Living on the mesa provided me with an opportunity to experience quiet and solitude, which I craved. Hearing barn owls hooting during the early morning hours made it even more special. I also fell in love with their barnyard animals and readily took to sharing kitchen scraps with the pigs and miniature horse. For people who love to walk, I appreciated the fact that I could walk from their property and along a paved trail near the Cypress Ridge Golf Course. Lots of people walking in the early morning hours, so it was completely safe. If I had any complaint, it would be that I wished I could have stayed longer. I would have no hesitation booking again with the Kosts.

beautiful and relaxing

My husband and I lived here for 3 months and loved it. It was a quiet retreat in the country, yet only 10-15 minutes from the beach and downtown Arroyo Grande. The home is nicely decorated and the bathroom shower is amazing! I loved feeding the mini horse and pigs. Peri and Jeff were great hosts! Thanks for everything!

Cute cottage in a rustic setting but disappointing sleeping arrangements

This is such a cute place and the owners were very nice and accommodating. They have a beautiful property with chickens and sheep, and the area is beautiful; however I could not give more than 3 stars as we believed the owner's assertion that it accommodated four people. I even spoke with the owner prior to committing to the booking and explained that we were a family of four with two teenagers. There is only one "real" bed and it is a double, and the fold out couch that converts to a "bed" doesn't fit one adult, let alone two. It is so hard and uncomfortable it really isn't fair to consider it a sleeping accommodation. The owner brought in another very small "bed" which made the one room cottage hard to navigate. Luckily we have relatives nearby and were able to have two people from our family sleep there, but it was not an ideal set up at all for us and I would not recommend this for more than two people.

Adorable cottage & Great central coast location!

This adorable cottage was exactly what we needed for our 4 night stay on the Central Coast. It had everything we needed to make our stay feel "just like home." I stayed here with my husband, our 2 1/2 year old son, & our dog. The owners Peri & Jeff are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They brought us fresh eggs from their Zen Hut, showed us the feeding of the animals, & treated our dog just like their own. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need to make your stay pleasant. The cute Lanai is the perfect place to sit outside and enjoy a book, or glass of wine. Nice & quite location and convenient to all the wonderful things to do on the Central Coast. I hope to get a chance to come back to this Cottage Gem. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay on the central coast. Much better then staying at a hotel!

Perfect little cottage close to everything

I was in the area 10 days for business and am tired of hotels, so I use VRBO for longer-term stays. So far it's been a fantastic decision...and this place continues the winning streak. It's small, cozy even, but then there is the outdoor lanai which doubles the living space! You'll spend a lot of time out there too; it is that great. Inside, you've got a comfy bed, huge bathroom, full kitchen and enough charm for the entire mesa. And you just can't beat the location...don't even try...you're about 15 minutes or less from everything, and golf is almost next door. I didn't even turn the TV on the whole time but you've got satellite TV too if that is your thing. Peri and Jeff are the perfect hosts...they respect your privacy but are right there if you need them. The farm is great and the Zen Hens do a fabulous job with the eggs. And don't forget the friendly goats who I am convinced think they are dogs. The cottage is set back from the road so no traffic noises, and you can fully immerse yourself in the country charm. I will be back next time I'm in the area.

Why they chose this property

Peri was born in San Luis Obispo at Sierra Vista hospital when my father was attending Cal Poly. My parents then moved back to Modesto soon after I was born and raised the family there, all the while enjoying many vacations on the central coast growing up. After several years living in the Bay Area, I knew I wanted to move back from where I was born, and we did exactly that in 2002. We are located within minutes to several beaches, lakes, golf courses, wineries, shopping, antiquing, spas, hiking areas, national forests, recreation areas, live theatre, restaurants, and so much more
