About this property

Private Beach + Pier + Hot Tub | Carnelian Bay | Grand Elk Chalet

Welcome to Grand Elk Chalet by AvantStay, a striking three-story A-frame retreat tucked among the towering pines of Carnelian Bay — where mountain charm meets elevated comfort just minutes from the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Set along Tahoe's coveted North Shore, this home places you in an ideal location for year-round adventure. Step directly across the street to your private HOA beach, complete with a pier, swim area, and picnic grounds — a rare perk that makes lazy lake days entirely effortless. Nearby, Patton Beach and Carnelian West Beach offer even more shoreline to explore, while scenic hiking and biking trails wind through the surrounding forest. A quick drive brings you to Tahoe City's vibrant dining scene, local shops, and riverfront strolls, while winter invites you to world-class skiing at Palisades Tahoe and Northstar.

Inside, Grand Elk Chalet makes an unforgettable first impression. Originally built in the 1930s, the home carries a living sense of history: a grand stone fireplace hand-built from stones gathered right on the property, historic chandeliers sourced from Oakland's Elks Lodge, and a main bath adorned with original Hollywood tilework that's as charming as it is one-of-a-kind. Soaring A-frame architecture, exposed wood beams, and expansive windows fill the open-concept living space with natural light and partial lake and forest views — a backdrop that never gets old.

The living room's radiant heated floors keep things warm underfoot as you gather around after a day outdoors, while the fully equipped kitchen and an expandable dining table — seating six and extending to ten with two hidden leaves — make shared meals feel easy and unhurried. A tucked-away reading nook rounds out the main living area, offering a quiet perch for slow mornings, afternoon breaks, or winding down with a book as snow falls or sunlight filters through the trees.

Step outside to your private retreat beneath the pines. Fire up the BBQ for a laid-back evening, settle into the lounge area, or slip into the new eight-person circular hot tub under the stars — the perfect way to close out any Tahoe day.

The home sleeps up to 12 guests across five bedrooms. The primary suite features a king bed and a spa-like ensuite with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. Two additional queen bedrooms offer comfortable accommodations for couples or friends, while the bunk room — with a double and a twin — is perfectly suited for kids or extra guests.

The fifth bedroom is a detached studio tucked beneath the deck, with its own private entrance and full bathroom. It's an ideal setup for guests who want a little more independence — note that this space includes a kitchenette with a sink, electric kettle, toaster, coffee maker, and beverage mini fridge rather than a full kitchen.

With in-home laundry, multiple bathrooms, and access to a private HOA beach, pier, swim area, and picnic grounds, Grand Elk Chalet is built for groups who want to settle in and truly feel at home.

Whether you're here for lake days, powder-filled adventures, or a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, this is a North Lake Tahoe experience you'll want to return to again and again.
