Immaculate and well maintained home on SSB! NEW for 2024 upgraded kitchen!
The Breakaway is a beautiful and well maintained home owned for over 23 years by the same owners. Each year it is updated and kept in immaculate condition. It is a very short walk to one of the top 20 beaches in the world according to a recent study by National Geographic.
Sunset Beach is a quiet, family beach great for families and couples. We offer four bedrooms and three bathrooms with an outdoor shower. Our screened in porch offers a view to the ocean as well as our Widow's Watch on the third floor. There is a private balcony off the upstairs master bedroom. Recently added is an outdoor renter's lockout area for your bikes, golf clubs, beach chairs etc... NEW for 2024 Quartz countertops and tile backsplash with zero radius sink and disposal.
Please note: During the summer months linens, towels, soap and shampoo is NOT included due to the fact that we rent both on VRBO and via a local rental company. In the off season months linens and towels are included with the rental.

This was our second year at Breakaway because we absolutely loved it there last year!!!! We’ve been staying on Sunset Beach since 2020, but Breakaway is by far OUR favorite!!

Great Family Vacation
We had another great stay at this property. It’s perfect for our family. Close to the beach and pier (easy walk) and the kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and cookware etc. Love it is convenient to the convenience store and ice cream shop, too.

Lovely stay at the Breakaway
Another wonderful year at the Breakaway! Bright & open floor plan, accommodating to our 3 children, well-stocked kitchen, and short walk to the beach. We’ll be back!

Beautiful house close to the beach with a view
This beach house was perfect for us! We loved the floor plan and how well it was stocked. Everything was clean and welcoming. What we liked most was that it was convenient to the beach and pier. A short walk to both made it the perfect spot for us! We definitely recommend staying here and plan to rebook it again ourselves!

Great location!
Our family loves staying at this beach house! It is the perfect set-up for us! Everyone has their own room and bathroom, the living room is a large space for everyone to hang out in and it is not too far from the beach! The host has been great and has been an easy process! We thoroughly enjoy our week stay every summer and plan to come back!

Loved our stay at this home. It worked well for our family (6 adults and 2 small children). Great location close to the beach and everything in Sunset Beach. The photos and description were accurate. Host was responsive. We already booked the house again for next year!

Beautiful, bright and easy walk to beach
We had a wonderful stay at The Breakaway! The house was clean, the kitchen well-stocked, there were plenty of bathrooms for folks to use plus an outside shower for rinsing sand off when coming back to beach. Even though linens/towels aren’t provided it wasn’t a big deal for us. It was a few minutes walk to the beach, market and shops. Lorelei was great to work with and very responsive and our family had a wonderful time:)

Wonderful
This was our third year coming here. Wonderfully kept spacious house with plenty of room for our group of 3 adults and 4 kids. Our favorites are it is within walking distance to the beach and ice cream, and it has plenty of outdoor balcony space including a screened in balcony and a widows watch where you can see and hear the ocean from the house.

We are Paul and Lorelei Milan and have owned The Breakaway for 23 years. Our now adult children learned to swim and ride bikes as children at SSB. Each year we upgrade the home as it is our home away from home. As avid golfers and travelers we try to get to Sunset Beach as much as possible. Over the past 23 years this home has become our family gathering place with multiple generations. The times we cannot be there we enjoy opening our home to fellow travelers and beach lovers. We love the open floor plan and knew the upper decks and lower screened in porch would be a perfect place for morning coffee or evening cocktails.
