The Daufuskie Escape Cottage is a uniquely designed cottage that had a top-to-bottom renovation by its new owners. Everything is updated and fresh…and the cottage is simply drop-dead beautiful!

The signature feature of the Daufuskie Escape Cottage is the huge wrap-around screened porch with the front porch providing a view of the ocean, a swing bed, and a dining area. You will especially LOVE the swing bed! What could be more relaxing? And more than one guest has decided to sleep overnight out there!

Walk around the porch to the back and find your gas grill…and another porch with a smaller dining room area and a lovely seating area perfect for diving into your beach book.

This cottage really does have it all! Although a second row property, the cottage’s location ensures a very nice view of the ocean from the front, and a big beautiful backyard for family games and for viewing Daufuskie’s wildlife. And don’t forget the hammock for a great place to take that afternoon snooze…

The cottage is also lovely inside! Peaceful beachy colors set the mood for each room, complemented by coastal artwork (including some from our own Ironfish Art Gallery!). The living/dining/kitchen area was designed with relaxation and socialization in mind. The kitchen is fully equipped and perfect for cooking family meals. The cook will enjoy the company of other guests who choose to perch around the L-shape bar encircling the kitchen. The living room’s seating area is comfy and well-suited for either social chats or for watching the flat screen Smart TV. The fireplace works and is perfect for chilly evenings.

The two spacious bedrooms (A king bed in the master bedroom; 2 queens in the other) showcase unique artwork, quality bedding, pillows, and brand new mattresses. And of course each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. We are also pleased that the owner has included a desk in the master bedroom, perfect for those who need to do a little virtual work or study while vacationing on Daufuskie.

A washer and dryer is available in the cottage for our guests.

The location couldn’t be better! The beautiful Melrose beach is a mere two minute walk from your cottage. Although the resort is closed, the Equestrian Center is now being run by another group, and beach rides are available for our equine enthusiasts.

A true escape

Getting to Daufuskie Island is something of an ordeal and once you arrive, you'll have very limited dining and shopping options. This will turn some travelers off, but for us it was heaven! If you are enticed by near-empty-beaches, fascinating and complex history, nature in abundance, welcoming people, and ancient moss-draped live oaks, you will likely love Daufuskie and this home is a perfect choice for staying in comfort close to the beach.

Best Cottage on the Row!

Staying in this cottage made our trip to Daufuskie. I think every family member took a turn with a nap on the porch swing! The house is beautifully appointed, very clean and has lots of interesting books and island info. It's just steps from the beach and a short cart ride or walk to the pool. It had everything that we needed to make delicious meals and really feel at home - Debbie was super responsive with any questions and tips as to island happenings. We were visiting with another family who stayed in a "beachfront" cottage and the most of the shared meals that were supposed to be split between houses were at our cottage because it was so great!

Our stay at the cottage was wonderful. Cathie was incredible. Very helpful with every question. The home is equipped with anything you need to stay a few days or a month, plus. Beautifully furnished, location is couldn’t be closer to the beach. Grand old trees & nature/wildlife abound. What’s not to love. Thank you for sharing paradise.

Great location and amenities

Front porch swing was the perfect spot for coffee in the morning. Equipped kitchen was great for meals in and lots of seating options for dining and playing games. Easy access to the beach and pool. Lunch at Bell's at the Beach was convenient.

This is a bright, airy cottage with a terrific location, a large and beautiful back yard, and (albeit a second row cottage), a nice view of the ocean.
