3-bdrm Oceanview Condo at Makahuena -Walk to Poipu Beaches- NEW Split A/C SYSTEM

Located in the "almost always" sunny, resort town of Poipu, on the gorgeous south shore of Kauai, this oceanfront complex is situated on the southernmost point of the island. From the edge of the dramatic cliffs, just above the crashing waves, you can watch the sunrise in the morning as well as the sunset in the evening, without even switching the spot your standing on! During the winter months, this is one of the best locations on the island for watching the whales that also make Hawaii their seasonal home.

This 3-bedroom, 2-½ bath, home is perfect for an island holiday with two families because there are 2 En Suite master bedrooms. (1 king, and 1 queen). Additionally, there is an enclosed loft with one full bed, and two twin beds. We also just installed a brand new ($29K) state of the art split A/C system. It's the most efficient type of a/c available, so this is now one of the most comfortable condos in the resort!

The entire home is newly outfitted with all-new island décor and furnishings. Enjoy the ocean view from the lanai, or stroll down to “the point” to see everything up-close. The Hawaiian sea turtles show off every day in the cove in front of the complex. The spinner dolphins also enjoy performing for your viewing pleasure. Additionally, in the winter months, you'll see Humpback whales playing, splashing, and breaching as they navigate around the point.

Makahuena is located in between the town's two main beaches. From the condo, it's less than a ten-minute walk to Poipu and Bennecke’s Beaches to the west. You can also hike east from our property along the cliff trail to Shipwreck Beach.

Some of the island's best dining, shopping, and attractions are just a stone's throw away, so we know you’ll be happy you chose this island home for your Kauai vacation.

Had a good stay with our adult family of four but had a couple of concerns. The edges (nosings?) on the first set of stairs are either cracking or loose and you can feel them move when going up or down. The loft can stay fairly warm even with AC, we had to move a mattress into one of the bedrooms after the first night. ACs are dusty, not sure if they're being cleaned regularly. Some of the wall-mounted lights or hangers are broken or hanging by a thread. Single-ply toilet paper was a bit disappointing.Overall the place is great and has good amenities, is in a great location and central to many points of interests in Poipu. It could just use a bit of a deep clean, a couple cosmetic and functional updates, and a little TLC.

Great location. Amazing view!

We loved our stay. We’ve been to Kauai 4 times and loved this location. The view of the ocean included whales and dolphins! The condo is spacious and pretty clean. The only wish is more toilet paper and paper towels. We stayed 11 nights and ran out of both. One important tidbit is that you need a key to get into the unit. The door will not open at all without the key. Also, the handle to the door doesn’t get you in. Just turn the key and push open…

Christmas in Paradiso

Perfect location. Saw whale breach from balcony while enjoying my morning cup of coffee. The dishwasher didnt work but maintenance was quick to respond. Unfortunately it wasnt repairable. Aside from dishwasher aperfect spot. Would stay again. strepairable...but not the end of the world.

Thanks for sharing you lovely home it was well equipped, great location. The view’s amazing. The path up front all the way to shipwreck beach was beautiful. We seen whales daily and turtles.

Beautiful Spot

What a beautiful condo! Everything was so pretty and nicely organized. Our family had the best time here! Couldn’t have asked for a better condo to spend New Year’s in:-) We appreciated at all the beautiful details in the decorations and the provided towels and beach equipment. Thank you so much for providing a perfect “home” for us to live in for a week. We hope to come back again sometime soon.

Multigenerational Family Kauai trip

I recommend this condo for up to eight folks. Third floor loft requires use of main floor restroom, and shower in one of second floor bathrooms (entry in bedroom.) Community near condo has all you need close by. Snorkeling, beach 20 minutes walk. incredible views of ocean, good food, grocery store near by, pool on property, good restaurants close by. We would visit in the future.

Condo is well equipped!

Although the storm that blew threw didn't allow us to spend much time in the water, the condo was wonderfully stocked with everything needed to hit the beach! The kitchen had everything necessary and the community BBQ was great too. There was enough room for everything to have some space, as well as, good size living/dining room for meals. I would highly recommend this condo, and Chad was very easy to work with - quick communication and very friendly. All in all it was a great family vacation!

Perfect for our Group of 7

Everything about this property worked perfectly for the needs of our group of 7 people. The property is right on the ocean and the condo has a great ocean view. There’s a place on property to view the sunset and a spot within walking distance to view the beautiful sunrise. The grounds are meticulously kept and quiet yet close to everything we needed. Inside the condo we had lots of extras that made staying here so convenient like beach towels/chairs/umbrellas and snorkel gear. The lanai was a great place to hangout and the washer and dryer came in handy. Super comfortable beds and plenty of nice linens. Great air conditioning, too! The property manager, Chad, was always quick to respond to questions and so easy to deal with. Overall, for us, this place was a great find. Highly recommend!

Watson/Call Family Vacation

Overall we had a great time. Kitchen was well stocked with spices, etc. Beds were comfortable and loved the master shower. There were a lot of steps and walking to get to the unit. I feel there should have been a disclaimer about all the stairs and steep inclines. Husband and I have had knee and hip replacements and this was very hard for us and we were not expecting it to be like that. Would have liked to have known beforehand.We were more likely to stay in more so we didn’t have to do all the stairs. The view was great and we were able to see whales.

Beautiful home away from home!

Casa de Chad is perfectly located on southern part of the island overlooking the ocean with a beautiful flow of crashing waves and a “spouting” hole. We also spotted turtles. The condo itself is situated in an ideal spot overlooking the pool, and the waterfront view from the cozy balcony. Enjoyed the top of the lines outdoor grill available to us on the property. The night views of the sky were spectacular as we even caught the Blue Moon during our stay! Just a few minutes drive from Poipu Beach, a walk to Grand Hyatt Hotel and much more, you’ll find yourself immersed in everything Kauai has to offer just a few minutes away. As far as the condo unit, it has a welcoming cozy vibe upon entering the front door. Fully stocked with most household needs and spacious enough for a family and/or friends of up to 6 people to comfortably share space. As for the actual cleanliness, would recommend deep cleaning on a regular basis. Overall, loved our time and experience at Casa de Chad as it felt like our home away from home in Hawaii.

Tired looking Unit

The unit is advertised as a unit that sleeps 6. This includes a loft with no attached bathroom. We were told that there was no AC after the fact and received a discount because of that, however the loft was a sweat box and the 2 adults staying in it had to trek down two flights of stairs to use a washroom. The unit itself is very dated and needs an overhaul. The tennis court has considerable cracks which made it a safety hazard. Was woken up on night 2 by a huge cockroach crawling across my chest. Seems like Makahuena has gone downhill in the past 6 years since our last stay.

Take better care of this condo

We had planned for our week at the condo to be the perfect sisters’ reunion. And it would have been, if the owners had done due diligence with maintenance before we arrived. On day 2, we discovered that a loose shower faucet upstairs was leaking water into the kitchen light fixture downstairs (dripping on my sister’s head as she made dinner). The water had filled the kitchen fluorescent light fixture and was attracting a swarm of fruit flies. On day 3, the repair person emptied the light fixture – but couldn’t fix the upstairs shower faucet. On day 5, one of the bedroom air conditioning units started buzzing intermittently – too loud to sleep through during the hot nights. We were told this noise happens when the AC filters need cleaning, and to just turn it off. By our last night at the condo, all 3 bedroom AC units were buzzing – so loudly in the loft bedroom that I couldn’t sleep through it and had to spend the night on the downstairs couch. Which would have been fine, if the downstairs half-bath toilet hadn’t been running constantly during our week at the condo. That last night, I had to MacGyver the toilet tank, to get it to stop cycling every few minutes so I could sleep. My note to the owners is this: don't make your customers spend their week being technical support for your maintenance issues. A final note: you need a new Guest Memory book in the house; all pages in the existing book are filled. You would know this if you checked the details in between guest stays.

The Condo was truly good but not great. I will try and offer honest and balanced feedback both for the benefit of the host and also for potential guests in the future.Positives: *The host, Chad, and on-Island support Keenan, were both very helpful and responsive. Extremely positive and great customer service.*Condo location and view were amazing.*Parking was easy and convenient*The pool, grilling area were both nice and as expected.*The unit included all as advertised in terms of supplies, dishware, in unit laundry and beach supplies.* Wifi and TVs/Entertainment all worked greatConsiderations:* Both the condo and unit have a lot of stairs (to get there and once inside) with no elevator option. Just be aware if you are traveling with someone who is mobility challenged.* The condo complex and unit are both a bit "dated." There is some "rusting" around windows on the paint and on drapes. The kitchen is okay but had elements which could use a "deep cleaning."Overall I feel it was very good stay and nice place which met our needs. If we had 6 again, I would consider staying again but if my group was less, I think I might look at some other places.I wish there was a way to give it 4.5 stars but I had to choose and it falls a bit short of "excellent."

Location is perfect for any Island Activities

We spent a week and had a great time. We enjoyed being able to use all of the beach chairs, cooler, etc. while we visited. The condo is quiet and the pool is well maintained and beautiful. Of course, the view in the corner is gorgeous! You can look out from this condo and see the pool and the ocean.This condo is located close to several beaches and is centrally located so it doesn’t take too long to get to anywhere on the island. The grocery store is a short drive away to stock up on the essentials.I highly recommend staying in this condo when you visit Kauai!!

Perfect

Our family spent a week at the condo. What drew me was the three bedrooms. I appreciated the loft with 3 beds. All of the beds were super comfortable. So many thoughtful items and fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Truly felt like home. The grounds are like a park. So many beautiful flowers. The pool and hot tub was a bonus. Loved the location. Walkable to Poipu beach and shops/eating. Communication was seamless. They have beach toys, umbrellas, chairs, a cooler…literally thought of everything. Washer and dryer was so helpful for our family. Will definitely stay again if we come back.

Fantastic stay!

We had such a fantastic stay! It was exactly as expected and described in the listing and so close in proximity to all the things we love to do in Kauai. The owner was more than accomodating and made sure to always let us know he was available for anything we needed. We also loved that we had beach chairs and toys galore which saved us time and money from renting. Everything worked great and my family and I had plenty of space. We will definitely be back!

A slice of heaven!

We had a fantastic stay at the Makahuena! Poipu is gorgeous with some of the best beaches. The Makahuena property is a delight. Lovely pool and great spots to watch turtles. The condo was one of the best we have stayed in. Great spaces, perfectly clean, very well stocked kitchen with lots of extra cooking supplies. We loved our stay and would love to come back again someday. Thanks Chad for all of your help along the way.

First Hawaii vacation

We had an amazing time on the island the condo was in a perfect location. We saw many sea turtles and a pod of dolphins of at least 100. So many beautiful birds that came to visit us while sitting on the balcony. In addition the condo was very well stocked with everything you need for a great beach day. We were very pleased with our choice and already plan on coming back in the future.
