“The Makahuena” is located on the southernmost point of Kauai. This unique oceanside resort is situated on the edge of a bluff providing spectacular coastal views. This spacious 3BR/2BA ocean view condo has over 1,300 sqft of living space. The fully equipped kitchen and bathrooms have been updated with cherry wood cabinets and granite counter tops. For added comfort there is a washer/dryer in the unit, 3 TVs, and split AC throughout the condo.

This single level floor plan opens up to a lanai with a beautiful ocean view, steps away from the pool, hot tub, and shared grill area. There are some stairs leading down to the unit. The primary bedroom has a king size bed memory foam mattress and TV, the guest bedroom has a queen size bed, and the second guest bedroom has 2 twin beds (these cannot be combined). A full size sofa sleeper in the living room offers an additional sleeping place (a $50/night additional guest fee is applied for 7th & 8th guest).

Good

It was fine - good location and clean and comfortable beds. I did find it quite loud but that's on me for booking a ground floor unit. It was also a bit difficult to find the unit the first night. But it was nice and a good location and I appreciated the beach chairs too.

Our hosts were very helpful both before our arrival as well as during our stay. The 3 bed/2 bath unit was clean, neat and the kitchen was well stocked with appliances, dishes, and everything our family needed for our 8 day stay. They had a beach wagon and coolers plus beach chairs for all 5 of us which was greatly appreciated. Having a full size washer and dryer in the unit was super helpful. Excellent value!

What a perfect place!

Looks small in the pictures but it is a very spacious ground floor condo. Walk right out of your slider and down to the pool. It fit our family of 6 so great. Everything was so clean and so nice. Well stocked kitchen gadgets and plates. Everything you need to stay. We got in real late and we were able to have our Instacart order delivered and put in the fridge before we arrived. Walk down to the ocean and you can watch the sun rise in the morning and set in the evening. Highly reccomend this place!

This 3b2b is just right for us and our two adult children. Lots of space for all of us to stretch out. The basic necessities are all there if you want to cook and do laundry. I cooked a very simple Thanksgiving dinnerFor 4 people. Both Shipwreck and Poi’pu beaches are 15-16 mins walk. All required beach gear were provided. The food options were not that close except for Brenneke which is not that great either food wise or service. The dishwasher needs a thorough cleaning. Some cups were not washed and placed back into the cupboard. Overall, a nice location and place to stay.

Check in and out was easy. The location was great. The place had lots of beach gear that was super helpful. Overall it was a wonderful stay. It was a little bummer that there was construction right outside our door that we didn't know ahead of time was going to be happening. And the bathroom slider door seems to be off track or broken. As it was difficult to move and very load when you did. But even with these bummers, we still had a great time and it wouldn't stop us from staying here again.

Perfect Location

We celebrated a family member's 50th birthday in Kauai. There were six of us and our accommodations were fantastic. We had everything we needed in the condo with plenty of room. The location is very convenient to whatever we needed or wanted to do. Hope we can get back next year!

Great Location - Beautiful condo and development

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this condo unit. It's a very clean unit, well equipped and the development grounds are beautiful and well kept. The location was perfect for us. The pool, and ocean views are just steps away. Poipu Beach and restaurants are a stroll or short drive. The use of beach equipment and a wagon were a real plus!

Beautiful property located in Poipu!

This gem is nestled in the perfect spot! A walking trail leads you to Shipwrecked Beach and you can easily walk along the road to Poipu Beach Park in the opposite direction. Although we drove to the beaches when we were going to set up camp but being able to walk to see a sunset is perfect! The unit was welcoming and served our family well. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare dinners. We enjoyed eating and playing games at the dining room table. Sitting on the lanai was very relaxing in the morning. Our sons enjoyed walking to the scenic lookout and watching the crashing waves along the cliffs just steps from the unit. The pool and spa were very refreshing and nice in the evening when you wanted to unwind after a day at the beach. The air conditioning units work amazing! The beds were comfortable. We truly appreciated having the washer and dryer. This is a wonderful place to stay! Recommendations: Tunnels Beach, located in north shore, has the best snorkeling. Parking is limited so get there early (8am)! Brennecke’s Shaved Ice in Poipu was the best and Lampert’s Ice Cream in Poipu was super tasty!

Good Size for Large Family

The condo had a good amount of space, making it comfortable for a large family. However, the queen room had a strong urine smell that was hard to ignore. We ended up purchasing air fresheners in order improve its small. The main bathroom also had that small. The kitchen was very basic. The water pressure was poor and hot water in the showers were inconsistent. We were also disappointed with the limited pool hours, the fact that we were allowed access at 9am which seems late.

Great Location - Comfortable Stay for family of 5

We enjoyed the location and amenities of this rental. Overall we gave it 4/5 given the condition of rental from a cleanliness standpoint wasn't the best. It certainly wasn't a dealbreaker or worth raising concerns over. The pocket and sliding doors could use some good maintenance. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Stay

We stayed in this condo for one week, and loved every minute of it. Simple check-in process, condo was very clean, lots of space, and we appreciated the a/c!! Just steps to the pool, and the most amazing ocean view. We couldn't have asked for anything more. If we ever come back to Kauai, I would book this property again in a heartbeat!

Perfect Family Poipu Retreat

Beautiful condo & grounds, great location. This place has a very practical set-up for families & extended families, and everything you need to feel at home. Meticulously clean, a beautiful pool and grilling area, and lovely patio to relax on. Perfect!

Lovely Stay

The condo grounds were beautiful. The condo itself is nicely situated near the ocean lookout, pool, and BBQ. There is a walking path nearby that takes you towards the Grand Hyatt and you are within walking distance to Poipu Beach. The kitchen had most everything we needed, the AC was a huge plus, the in unit washer/dryer were perfect (especially with the weather, wet towels don't seem to dry, it was nice to throw them in the dryer when we got back) and the ground floor lanai is nice to relax. Only downside for us was the bed/pillows, both weren't very comfortable for our liking.
