Cabins Out Back - Nest - Cozy Cabin for Two Only Four Miles to Town

Come to the heart of the Hill Country in Fredericksburg...a place you can unwind from the city life. The fresh air and the stargazing are magnificent. See the wildlife of whitetail and Axis deer, wild birds, turkeys, and our 20+ pastured chickens. We are less than 10 minutes from downtown, but yet you feel you're in another world.

The 'Nest' is a ~308 square ft. cabin with a king sized bed, lots of windows, kitchenette with microwave and small fridge and full-sized bath with Tub/Shower combination. Also includes flat screen TV with streaming. This cabin sleeps two.

Brew a coffee or tea with the Keurig coffee maker and take a seat on the front porch. A full home-cooked breakfast will be delivered to your cabin between 8:30-9:00 am. Please note we will not be able to serve breakfast on Thursday mornings Jan-May 2025, which is reflected in the Wednesday nightly rate.

Perfect Getaway

We loved this spot. It was clean, cute and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. It's not far from Main St in Fredericksburg at all, but it's far enough away to enjoy the quiet and be out of the hustle and bustle. We also did some hiking at Enchanted Rock, and it was only about 30 minutes away from there. It was a great location and the hosts were great. Breakfast came at the perfect time each morning, and otherwise they were just available if you needed them. I definitely recommend staying here.

Beyond Expectations (and Fresh Eggs)

Cabins Out Back and Jason were the highlight of our family summer vacation. As a “city family,” retreating to the countryside was the escape we all needed - including the quaintness, chickens, deer, and accommodations. What we loved was the entire set-up felt like stepping back in time while at the same time providing all the modern day luxuries that you expect. AND, the breakfast!!! Our young boys helped select the freshest just laid eggs, pick the berries, and flower garnishments that Jason turned into the most magical and delicious breakfast. We still talk about this part of our vacation and are making plans to return!

Cozy Cabin, Starlit Skies, and Chicken Caretakers

The missus and I both enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin was great. Breakfast was excellent both days we stayed. We got some great stargazing in the evenings. Most amusing part was the chickens that would come and hang out with us on the porch. I assume they were the guards... Highly recommend!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

My husband and I had a WONDERFUL time. Jason was such a great host and blew us away with the amazing breakfasts. The area was very quiet and pretty, the cabin perfectly cozy. It was only about 10 minutes from town, which was perfect. We’ve been telling all our friends and family if they visit Fredericksburg to check out staying here!

Cozy and Peaceful Property

Awesome Getaway

From the first morning, it almost felt fake. I sat on the porch to birds chirping in the trees, a fawn running across the yard and chickens clucking close by. It scenery was something from a postcard. The breakfast was simple (which I loved) and delicious. The eggs actually come from the chickens on site. The owner was very polite and welcoming. We will be back.

Perfect Weekend Get-a-way!

My husband and I traveled from Needville, TX and this adorable cabin was all that was promised and more! The cabin was quiet and had everything we needed. It even had an umbrella and little cookies for us. The breakfasts were served hot to us in our cabin and were 5 star. The freshly squeezed orange juice and picture perfect dishes were fantastic. It was close to Fredericksburg, but also nestled in a relaxing venue. The chickens and deer added to the ambience. My husband and I loved our memorable get-a-way! We will be back soon!

Perfect

1. The cabin was very very clean. When I realized how clean it was, I actually started looking for areas that were missed, and I couldn't find any. 2. Communication was great. I received all the information I needed plenty in advance. I had no need to communicate while there since everything was already in order. 3. The food was pretty impressive. I assume the eggs we were served were provided by the free range chickens on the property because they tasted better than what I usually cook at home. And the fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. I think I'm going to start squeezing my own orange juice. 4. Overall, my wife and I were very happy with our stay. Thank you so much for such a pleasant visit.

Excellent stay in the country

If you like delicious breakfast, cozybcountry cabin with all the amenities then this is your place. Outside of Main St in Fredericksburg (5-10 min) but for us, a total perk. Quiet country road, free range chickens, longhorn cattle across the street and saw a ton of deer. Jason was a great host and we sure hope to stay again!

Wonderful Weekend!

The Nest was much more than the description! The home-cooked breakfast delivered to our door by the host was excellent. Every amenity you could ever need was on-site; even some we didn't know we needed. The property was peaceful & serene; the relaxing weekend we wanted! We enjoyed porch-sitting in the rockers watching the deer and the chickens but it was close enough to town for shopping, dinner,... Perfect location, excellent host, wonderdul accommodations,...we will definitely be back!

The Nest is the Best!

Loved our stay at The Nest! Jason was a super host...breakfast was wonderful...the chickens and wildlife were fun to watch...convenient to town but away from the traffic and crowds. Will stay here again on our next trip to Fredricksburg!

Couples Getaway

Fantastic weekend at Jason’s cabins! Our good friends stayed in the other cabin on property while we stayed with our 6mo old baby. It was wonderful only having the intimate nature of the property, making it feel even more like our private getaway. Our cabin had every amenity we could ask for, expect and more! I was pleasantly surprised at how cool the cabin was amidst the 100 degree Texas heat during the day and at night. Being 4 miles out of town was not even noticed as we were so accessible to everything in Fredericksburg and for our day hike at Enchanted Rock. Jason kindly delivered the most scrumptious breakfast each morning of our stay, complete with eggs fresh from their chickens. Recommendations were aplenty for restaurants and each panned out delightfully ( Hill Country Herb Garden, Hill and Vine, etc). We were easily able to fit our baby’s pack n play in our space and still have room to walk about. Each night we enjoyed drinks outside and star-gazing at the quiet, peaceful property. And even our request for an extension chord to charge our Tesla overnight was met with gracious assistance. Cannot wait to return for another stay in the future! Do not hesitate to book here ASAP.

Great weekend getaway!

This cabin is a fantastic getaway just a short drive from downtown Fredericksburg! The cabin was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was delicious, and Jason was a wonderful host.

I was born and raised in West Texas. After 15 years in corporate retail in the DFW area, I’m leaving the big city for Fredericksburg. I’m excited to take over the Cabins Out Back from my parents, Steve & Glenda, and continue their tradition of hosting delightful stays and delicious breakfasts!
