Beachside Cottage surrounded by coffee trees but minutes from the beaches

It’s unfortunate when someone books a property without reading the listing and then leaves a review criticizing things that were clearly disclosed before booking. Our Ohana is exactly where the listing says it is, at approximately 1,400 feet elevation. We have never claimed that you can walk out the front door onto the sand. The listing also clearly states there is no air conditioning, that the home uses louvered windows and fans, and that the pool is shared and located on the property where we live. The claim that the photos are “AI enhanced” and that this is somehow a different house is simply false. The photos are of the actual property. As for the accusations of “black mold,” that is a very serious claim to make without any testing or professional determination. Hawaii’s humid tropical climate can certainly create moisture and mildew concerns, but labeling something “black mold” after being inside for five minutes is not a factual diagnosis. We take cleanliness seriously and would have gladly addressed any legitimate concern had we been given the opportunity. Unfortunately, this review seems to be based largely on expectations that did not match what was plainly described in the listing. Future guests are always encouraged to read the full description before booking so there are no surprises upon arrival.

Aloha when you stay at most vacation rentals they DO NOT supply any paper goods. We are going beyond by giving. 2 rolls of towel paper and 2 toilet paper. We also have a few coffee pods so you can have coffee in the morning . If you felt the Ohana was as dirty I wish you would have bought this to Ruth’s attention so she could have addressed it and made it feel like home!

Thank you for your feedback. I do want to clarify a few important points for accuracy. This is Hawaii—not the mainland—and homes here are often designed very differently. At our higher elevation in the Kona coffee region, temperatures are typically cooler, and air conditioning is not commonly needed. Instead, homes are built to take advantage of natural airflow with louvered windows, which is exactly how this cottage is designed. Our listing does clearly state: * There is no A/C * The proximity of the other ohana on the property * And the presence of the coqui frogs, which are a natural and well-known part of evenings here The layout, including the shared access path, is also shown in the listing photos so guests can understand the setting before booking. Hawaii offers a unique, open-air, tropical experience that is very different from mainland expectations. While many guests love the natural breezes, sounds, and setting, we understand it may not be the right fit for everyone. We do our best to represent the property as accurately as possible and encourage all guests to review the full description to ensure it matches what they’re looking for. Wishing you the best!
