"Hale Maluhia" - Cottage with expansive ocean views in central Kailua Kona.

Enjoy our hosted private 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom accommodations. Beautifully detailed with a king size bed, tv, wireless internet, laundry, closet, and large covered lanai. Everything my mom needs for her month long stays with our family!

The large lanai (covered deck) has 2 outdoor seating areas including a BBQ, dining table and chairs. Cool breezes in the evening make it the perfect place to enjoy an ocean view sunset.

This bedroom was built next to our house for my mother to stay several times a year. The details are exquisite; from granite or Koa countertops and shelves, to antique Indonesian doors and artwork by local artists. You will experience Hawaii in its beauty!

The location on our property has gorgeous views of the sweeping valley below all the way to the ocean. It is surrounded by lush greenery and is only minutes to Kailua Kona town or historic Holualoa.

We welcome you to this peaceful place to enjoy Hawaii.

Fantastic stay!

What a beautiful and relaxing place to stay! The view was spectacular and the back deck was perfect for meals, working or just relaxing. It was great to stay in a neighborhood a little bit away from the main resorts and hotels. Owner was very kind to let us check in early due to a flight change too. We would definitely return!

Kona Mountain side retreat

Great "home base" for couples visiting the Big Island. Awesome views & accommodations. Minutes to town. Quiet and in a great neighborhood. Beautiful property!

Great place to stay on the Big Island

My wife and I loved this place. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location is easily accessible in the hills just above Kona with a beautiful view from the lanai. Very homey and just the right size for two people. If we someday return to the Big Island this is where we would stay.

Could not wish for more...

Beautifully appointed and designed cottage with breathtaking views, meticulously clean, and a great and convenient location in the hills above Kailua-Kona. Equipped with everything one may need for cooking and grilling and all other amenities, including equipment for beach visits. Super comfortable bed in which you wake up looking at luscious greenery and the Ocean. And a very welcoming and proactively communicating and responsive host who greeted us with delicious coffee and chocolate covered macademia nuts. Thank you, Esther, for this all around wonderful vacation in your great home!

Beautiful home, amazing views!

This home beautiful, spotlessly clean, and has an amazing ocean view. It is fully equipped with everything needed for a stay on the big island. Great central location. Hosts Daniel and Esther were welcoming and responsive. We would love to rent again and highly recommend!

Perfect location

This house is perfect for one or two people. Great views from the lanai. We love being a little up on the mountain where it is a little cooler and you get such beautiful views. It does not take long to be at the beach, stores or restaurants. The house was really clean and Esther was the perfect host. Great place for a Kona get away.

Cozy / up on hill

Everything was perfect. The property is quaint and for 1-2 people unit has everything, including beautiful sunsets. This is for nature types — birds and frogs chirping in morning and evenings, but really peaceful, but if that’s not your thing (ie sleeping in late), then you may want a hotel room. Hosts were awesome.

A sanctuary to retreat to after a day exploring

Fabulous location so peaceful with elevated views and all the comforts of home. We felt so relaxed coming back after each day of exploring the big island to pour a drink and relax on the lanai cook on the bbq and sleep so soundly with the doors open. All the extras provided such as beach chairs snorkelling gear beach towels sunblock were so very much appreciated, we would highly recommend this wee gem as your stay on the big island..Mahalo

Great place for two

The property was clean and had high quality finishes. We stayed for 6 nights and it worked out great. It’s away from the main drag so you get the quiet and privacy but close enough that you can be in Kona in a few minutes drive. Esther was great, good communication and very helpful with questions.

A little disappointed

While the location was great and views of ocean great, overall place could have been a bit cleaner. The back deck where the dining table was located was visibly dirty. While I realize this is a covered outdoor space, a thorough sweeping of the deck was greatly needed

Paradise

This was our second time visiting and we loved it just as much as our first. The property is clean and well appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Communicating with Esther was easy and she was quick to respond. Our absolute favorite part is the beautiful view from lanai. We highly recommend Esther’s cottage and hope to return again!

Perfect place to enjoy the Big Island!!

We loved our 10 days at Hale Maluhi. The cottage is very well kept , clean and perfect for 2 people. Daniel and Esther are attentive and gracious hosts. The rural setting is peaceful but town is readily accessible. Bring binoculars to enjoy the view of the ocean below and the many birds. We had a great time... Mahalo Lehman’s.

Perfect for us!

Just right for two, Hale Maluhia is beautifully designed and appointed, with some great art pieces (ask the Lehmans about their artist friends Terry and Mike Field!), and a wonderful lanai with a to-die-for view. Access from the car was easy for my husband, who uses a walker. The place is compact and very comfortable, and the Lehmans were very welcoming and available. We would definitely stay again!

This property is unique in that it feels like you are tucked away in the country, but it is right in Kailua Kona. You will probably see horse, cows, chickens, and turkeys on most days and whales from the lanai in the winter months. We love living here!
