Your home away from home lends itself to a relaxing, fun vacation in the Valle Crucis/Boone area. The dining table seats six alongside a fully equipped modern kitchen with rustic industrial accents. A cozy, relaxed living room has rustic decorations adding to the cabin atmosphere. There is a modern gas log fireplace to keep you cozy in the winter or those crisp fall nights. The front porch offers private, breathtaking views of the pastureland, river and mountains beyond. Other amenities include hiking trails on the property, internet, and TV.

Couples Getaway

House was modern yet rustic, extremely clean, and very warm and cozy. It is very private, and a great getaway for couples. We had an absolute wonderful weekend here. We would definitely go back!

Glorious Peace and Quiet

My sister-in-law and I needed to get away for a quick weekend and this place was perfect. Beautifully decorated, clearly well cared for and planned, and all the amenities and touches you would hope to have at a home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, fireplace, and the spacious kitchen . We would absolutely stay here again! spacious kitchen.

Perfect Mountain getaway

We loved this property and everything about it. We have two children 3.5 and 17 months who loved exploring the land. Love the area with the park and creek close by for fun during the day and close enough to Boone for a quick meal.

As good as ever!

This was our 4th stay at Maybell - and, as always, we were welcomed into a perfectly clean, comfortable, and well-outfitted cabin, on what may be the finest property that VRBO has to offer. It simply feels like home. Never a shortage of things to see and do. Baker and Kate are great hosts!

Heaven in Valle Crucis

Our kids loved rolling down the hill while we took in the spectacular views. We picked up some local produce down the road and cooked the best summer meals in the well stocked kitchen. Felt like kings and queens here! Thanks for providing such a lovely space for us to spend time together as a family.

One of my favorite mountain houses

My family has rented several mountain properties over the years, and this one ranks among our favorites. The house was the perfect size for our family of 4, and it couldn't have been any clearner. The property itself is beautiful and my kids liked that there was plenty of room to explore outdoors. Although this was our first time renting this house, it definitely won' t be our last.

No complaints here!

The place is awesome, it has everything you need and more. Kate and Baker do a great job of communicating and making you feel right at home. No expense was spared with the renovation to the property. If you want to relax in the country but not give up your modern conveniences this is the perfect rental.

Fantastic!

Our family had a great time staying at this cabin! It was so peaceful and quaint! We loved the barn and we hiked around the property. The house was so clean! It had an old farmhouse feel with fantastic modern decor! It was close to a waterfall that we hiked to and also we went tubing in the river at the park nearby. We loved the town of Valle Crusis. We will be back!

We had a fantastic time! My boys loved sledding and we all loved hiking on the property. The kitchen was perfectly set up and had everything we needed to feel just like we were at home while cooking. We loved the closeness to lots of attractions and especially enjoyed the alpine rollercoaster and mystery hill. If going you have got to try Over Yonder for lunch or dinner and grab some jerky at the Jerky Outpost. I loved the digital door lock and not having to keep up with a key!

What a gift!

We had the opportunity to spend New Year's in this quiet, gorgeous mountain house, and are already looking at PTO/school schedules to figure out how quickly we can get back to it! The house and property are beautiful. We mucked around the barn, cooked and cuddled and absolutely unplugged... and also went to Sugar Mountain to tear it up in the snow. So grateful to have visited, and we hope to make it (at least!) an annual trip.

Cozy stay

Our family enjoyed our stay at Maybell. The cabin was clean and included everything we needed for a mountain getaway. The 2 bedrooms was well suited for us and our two children (2 & 4). The cabin was in close proximity to Boone, Banner Elk, and Grandfather Mountain. We will be back!

Kate and Baker Henson are both excited to share their new rental home with you. Baker grew up right around the corner; Kate grew up in the mountains of Virginia. They are both physicians in NC, return to the area often to enjoy the Maybell house

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

On the Watauga River, the cabin is situated near a rural farming neighborhood. Fishing, canoeing or swimming in the Watauga River is very convenient. Bring your mountain bike and enjoy the gentle grade of the Watauga River Road ... or for a little more adventure, let us recommend a nearby trail that fits your abilities ... And if road biking is your passion, find out why Lance Armstrong said of our area '...I'd say it's the best area for training in the whole of the United States.' (Cycle Sport June 1998).

Shopping at the historic Mast General Store is only 2 miles away.

Restaurants of all types are in nearby Banner Elk, Boone and Blowing Rock as well as a few in the village of Valle Crucis itself. Hiking trails are available onsite or within a short drive.

And during the winter months ... Three ski resorts are within a 30 min. drive. Cross country skiing onsite is available if snow conditions are right. Snow tubing is an option for the non-skier at some ski resorts nearby.
