Dixie Airstream - Holiday in style in an iconic Americal Airstream

Relax in this iconic 1957 American Airstream, situated in the grounds of an 18th Century residence, which is conveniently situated between the villages of Ings and Staveley and only 2.5 miles from Windermere.

The Airstream has been permanently placed and with such benefits from fresh running water, electricity and a plumbed-in loo. Wooden decking to the front makes an ideal space to have a BBQ or read a book.

The Airstream offers a comfortable double bed with fresh bedding, a WC, a separate shower and a cosy seating area.
The wooden work surfaces and abundance of storage space makes for an uncluttered space.
A fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities are provided but there are no cooking facilities, but this is easily remedied by taking a short stroll to one of the local pubs - The Watermill Inn & Brewery at Ings, The Eagle and Child in Staveley or Hawkshead Brewery & Beer Hall in Staveley all of which offer superb food. Alternatively, head into Windermere for a choice of fantastic restaurants.

The area is popular with mountain bikers too, riding the many routes in the Kentdale Valley, secure undercover storage is available for bikes if required.

A beautiful property to stay in. We really enjoyed the Airstream- it was nice and cosy but still spacious enough to have nights in when the weather wasn’t the best. Gillian was on hand whenever we had a question. We are planning on returning

Birthday treat

I chose this property stay as a birthday gift for my partner. It matched and exceeded expectations. Everything is compact, yet there is a spacious feel such that we didn't mind being holed up for a morning because of the rain! We are Airstream converts!

Just spent an amazing weekend in the stunning accommodation. Airstream van was something very different and it did not disappoint. Extremely cleaned and everything provided that we needed for our stay, superb host. Fantastic location, 20 minute walk into village and easy access by train into Windermere. Cannot rate this accommodation high enough. 5*

Short Lakes Stay

A big ✅️ to staying in an airstream. Thats another off the list 😁 Decorated lovely and a great welcome. My only negative being the noise from the main road - didnt realise it was so close. Such a busy road - note to self- I should do my homework more before going. Lovely place but wouldn't return purely because of the road noise

The Dixie airstream is a beautiful place to stay. Very quirky and Gillian, the host was welcoming and helpful. Careful planning required around meals . It’s clear on the website that cooking facilities are limited to microwave/ toaster/sandwich maker in Dixie. So we had already planned to eat out . The local pub in Staveley didn’t serve food on a Tuesday evening, and chip shop shuts at 7.30pm . On Wednesday, cafe finished serving at 4, and then no evening service at pub until 5.30 . Not a problem, if you plan. Also nearby road obviously produces noise . Again, didn’t affect us , as we are used to city living . But it was quite noisy , all the time .

Amazing little caravan with loads of charm

Amazing, kind host with a lovely property. Felt at home right away in a charming, cosy caravan. Especially easy to get to Windermere or Kendal by car (or bus), or to Staveley, the next town across, by foot (with a local brewery and many cafes which are absolutely worth a visit). Would love to go back.
