We’ve always stayed with Boutique Retreats when traveling in the UK, and this cottage is on par with them at a fraction of the price. Although there were only three of us and a small dog, we found it useful to close off the entrance sitting room and the bedroom with the nook.
Despite being on a busy junction, we hardly noticed any traffic noise. Unfortunately, we couldn’t fit our Range Rover in the driveway—it’s quite tight—but we were able to park out front to unload and then found a space on the little green opposite the road, where there was always availability.
Once inside, the cottage did not disappoint. Just like the photos, it was beautifully presented, warm, and thoughtfully designed. The beds were really comfy, and we mainly used the little sitting room to watch TV. The barn-style door in the utility room lets in a draft, so we’d recommend keeping it shut.
The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need for cooking and plenty of options to choose from. The microwave doesn’t work properly, but hey, we made popcorn on the hob instead!
The location is perfect, with a lovely walk just up the road—a 10-minute stroll to Wychwood Wild Park. We initially missed it, but to find it, head past Shipton Court (an incredible sight on your left), continue along the road, and you’ll see the gates on the right.
